My name is John Modica. Something that most people do not know about is me is that storytelling runs deep in my veins. My passion for storytelling was discovered by an unexpected source - my grandma. She was my biggest fan. After showing her the home movies I edited and transferred to DVD, my grandma encouraged me to go to film school to develop my storytelling and editing skills. While my grandma is no longer with us, I now have a sense of pride in my work by not hiding it away. To this day, her encouragement continues to fuel my desire to improve my work. Every story I develop is a challenge. I am not afraid of a challenge. Each challenge pushes my abilities further.

    Chapter 1

A black Ford Explorer, with Government issued license plates, comes to a stop in front of a plain unmarked white warehouse across the river from Downtown, Brooklyn. Behind a large pile of wooden shipping pallets, a shadowy figure watches the building. Over the last several hours, the figure has moved several times to keep from being detected. Toni Edwardo, a five foot six-inch-tall man of Mexican/Italian American descent with thick black hair and emerald green eyes in his late thirties, gets out of the vehicle. He flings opens the passenger side door. Adam Aurora, an Italian American in his mid-twenties with brown hair, slides out of the vehicle and looks around trying to figure out where they are. Toni grabs Adam’s shoulder and pushes him toward the entrance to the building.

Hey, not so rough, Adam pleads. Toni just grunts under his breath. The men enter the building. The sound of the door slamming shut echoes into the night air.

The shadowy figure ducks down behind the pallets. A soft feminine hand reaches into a pocket and pulls out a smart phone. The figure sends a text message that says: Been on site for several hours…location of experimental Jets confirmed…boss’ husband is already inside. The figure gets an immediate text in response: understood.

The interior is dimly lit by a single light bulb hanging in the middle of the room. Adam and Toni stop directly under the light. Reaching into his pocket, Toni pulls out the handcuff key.

Time to get those handcuffs off of you. Adam lifts his hands up behind his back while Toni unlocks and removes the handcuffs.

What the frack is going on here? Thank you, but what is going on? Where are we? Adam vigorously massages his wrists while looking around to get his bearings. Toni reaches into his pocket and pulls out a leather wallet. He hands the wallet to Adam. Adam opens it and inside he sees a badge and identification card. On the card is a picture of Adam. He quickly looks up with a puzzled look on his face.

Welcome to the FBI, Agent Adam Aurora.

Two sets of footsteps echo from the far side of the building. Seconds later, the sounds stop and two faces materialize out of the darkness.

Hello Cousin. A deep voice cuts through the darkness like a hot knife through butter.

Jeff? Jeff, is that really you? Adam squints attempting to make out the person standing before him in the dim light.

Yes, cousin. It's me. Jeff Aurora, an intelligent man with a skinny nose that resembles a ski slope, steps into the light and smiles. Adam gives Jeff a bear hug.

Man it’s so good to see you again cousin. Adam pulls back slightly while still keeping his hands planted on his cousin’s shoulders. I am so sorry to hear about your father. Adam lets go of his cousin. Jeff shrugs his shoulders.

Life happens. Jeff quickly changes the subject. Anyway, I hope Toni here didn't rough you up too much. Jeff chuckles. Toni flashes Jeff a dirty look.

Well, maybe just a little. Adam massages his wrists in a joking fashion.

Cousin, this is my best friend and partner, Special Agent Joe Freedom. Jeff points toward Joe. Adam reaches out his hand.

Nice to finely meet you Adam. Your cousin speaks highly of you. Joe, a German American with dark blonde hair wearing a silver and black Citizen watch, reaches out and clasps Adam’s outstretched hand.

Yeah? Adam lets go of Joe’s hand. Don't believe a word of it. Jeff, Joe, Adam, and Toni laugh. Adam turns his head to look at Toni.

So Toni, why on earth have you brought me here?

Joe here will bring you up to speed. Toni nods toward Joe. Adam turns his attention to Joe.

That’s my cue. We brought you here because an evil organization called the Computer Retail Associate Productions, or C.R.A.P. for short, has stolen plans for an experimental aircraft.

Wow. Adam whistles. Are they attempting to sell them on the Black Market?

We are not sure of C.R.A.P.’s intentions. Jeff fidgets and looks down at the light gray concrete floor. Adam looks quizzically at Jeff.

You know more than you’re telling me. Adam says to Joe. I can tell by my cousin’s behavior.

What we know for sure is that they’re holding Jeff's wife captive. For what purpose we don’t know yet. They already tried to assassinate Jeff. Joe lightly grabs Jeff’s left shoulder.

The assassin was my own frigging supervisor.

So, you’re saying that you worked there?

I hate to admit it, but yes cousin I did work there.

Damn. That’s messed up. Adam crosses his arms across his chest.

This is one sneaky organization. Every move they make is done in the shadows. Every attempt to flush them out has failed. Joe scowls.

Sounds like you guys have a mole.

My thoughts exactly, chirps Toni. Jeff attempts to hold back the tears in his eyes.

Jeff, I am so sorry to hear about your wife. Adam has a somber look on his face. He steps over to his cousin and gives Jeff a bear hug.

    Thanks, cousin. We’ll find her.

If you gentlemen can follow me, I will show you to your quarters for the night. In the morning, I will take you to the main hanger. Joe thrusts his arm out. The three men exit the room following behind Joe.

The next morning Toni, Jeff, and Adam are in the break room drinking coffee. Adam has a puzzled look on his face. Adam looks over at Toni.

Toni, I have a question for you. This has been bugging me ever since you flashed your badge at me when you arrested me at the precinct.

Oh yeah. What’s that Adam? Toni sits his coffee cup down on the table. Joe takes a sip of his coffee.

I couldn’t read much of the badge since you flashed it so fast. But, I did manage to see that your first name ends in an i and not a y. Why is that? Adam takes a gulp of his warm coffee.

My father is from Mexico, but my mom is from the Bronx. When I was born my mom insisted on naming me. She wanted a girl so she spelled my name with an i instead of a y. Some argue that I’m a momma’s boy. Toni takes a swig of his coffee. Jeff spits out coffee from laughing. Toni throws a menacing glace at Jeff. Joe appears without warning in the break room.

Good morning gentlemen. Glad to see you’re all having a good time. Ready to get the day started?

Yes. Toni, Jeff, and Adam respond in unison.

"Good. If you’ll all follow me to the main
