About this ebook

A secret agent vacation to Italy gone wrong...
An exhilarating & steamy 4 part shifter romance that will leave you on the edge of your seat and craving to turn the pages...

Prologue:

Blair Eubanks was trying to get away from work, but somehow, work always manages to follow her wherever she goes. And when her job is a secret agent for the CIA, well let's just say there's never a dull moment.

After meeting a sexy and mysterious Russian  during her vacation to Italy, Blair decides to live a little and hookup with him. But when her little rendezvous leads her back to a case she's been working - one involving a secretive and dangerous werebear mafia - she has to decide between running for her life or living in the moment. And that decision may determine whether she lives or dies.

Part One:

After learning that she was literally sleeping with the enemy, Blair Eubanks has a choice to make. Her first instinct is to report Alexei and his activities to her boss at the CIA, but when that falls through, she's forced to try and find proof. Of course, nothing is as easy as that.

Blair will come face-to-face with the monster hiding beneath the sexy exterior of her suitor. And when she's forced to defend herself - and him - against the Italian werebears, things get even more complicated.

Part Two:

Blair's secret is about to be exposed once and for all. If sexy Russian Alexei didn't know he was sleeping with the enemy, he will soon. As the two of them are struggling to escape the Italian werebear mafia, Blair's secret may be exposed right as she needs help from those she's been trying to capture for years - the Russian werebears.

What will happen to the twosome once the truth comes out? Will Alex fight to save his lady love or will he kill her to please his father? Even Blair isn't too sure of what will happen. Problem is... She's too far in to really do anything about it except follow her heart and hope she doesn't end dead.

Part Three:

Blair's secret is about to be exposed once and for all. If sexy Russian Alexei didn't know he was sleeping with the enemy, he will soon. As the two of them are struggling to escape the Italian werebear mafia, Blair's secret may be exposed right as she needs help from those she's been trying to capture for years - the Russian werebears.

    Prologue:

    Sleeping with The Enemy

I was once told by my father that I was too serious, that I was too hard on myself. He warned me that I'd never find any happiness in this life until I truly learned how to live – and that included learning to loosen up and have some fun now and then.. My father was right about many things, including that, but as I stood on one of the many bridges in Venice overlooking the canals, I realized that this was as close to happy as I'd ever been before.

Alone. I was truly alone. Not that it was a bad thing. After dedicating my life to the CIA, I needed to get away. And what better place than the land of beauty and love – Italy.

I stopped over in Venice on what was supposed to be a two night mission, but I soon fell in love with the grand canals and the palaces and homes that seemed to rise from the sea. I could stand there all day and people watch all day – the secret agent in me loved doing just that. That part of me was something I'd never be able to turn off and was something that would never die. I could pinpoint the pickpockets before they even approached their victim by the way they walked. I could tell the prostitutes from the lovers by the way they looked at each other. That's the problem with working for the CIA. You could step away from the job, but the job never truly left you.

Beautiful day, isn't it? a voice spoke up from beside me.

Hearing a voice with a thick, Russian accent surprised me. Considering what I did for a living, could you blame me for being a tad bit suspicious of a Russian? Call me old fashioned, but it's the way I had to be in order to survive.

That it is, I responded, turning to look at the man who had somehow managed to magically sneak up on me.

I was feeling somewhat apprehensive – sneaking up on a secret agent was no easy feat. Perhaps I was losing my touch. Nah. I was just too busy learning how to stop being so suspicious and on guard all the time and appreciate the world around me – something my therapist insisted I needed to do.

The tall, broad-shouldered man was as large and built as one of the palaces on the canal. The fact that he had a face that appeared carved from stone or granite only completed the effect. Beautiful blonde hair brushed his shoulders, all natural – and was prettier than most women's hair at that. His icy blue eyes took me in, looking me up and down approvingly.

The name is Alexei, but please, call me Alex.

Blair, I said, extending my hand to shake his. And you can just call me Blair.

Alex laughed, smiling and showcasing a set of perfectly straight, gleaming white teeth. He was a sight for sore eyes, that was for sure. And I didn't need CIA training to know that he was flirting with me.

It's nice to meet you, Blair, he said. Are you visiting this fine country for work or pleasure?

Pleasure, I said, pushing a strand of my dark hair behind my ear. All pleasure. Thankfully so.

Good. Glad to hear it, Alex said. Unfortunately, I'm here for work, but I am allowed a little free time to explore the city. But alas, such a romantic city when you're by yourself can be rather depressing, don't you think?

Not really. I hadn't thought of it. But I had to admit that spending some time with a sexy foreigner – albeit one I probably shouldn't be spending time with – appealed to me as well.

I'll admit that Venice is probably a city better enjoyed by lovers, yes. But it's not to say there aren't many beautiful sites and views you can enjoy alone.

Beautiful views? Yes, he said, the smile moving from his lips to his eyes.

I turned my head to get a better look at him, and because of the height difference, I had to look up at him. And because I'm a warm-blooded woman with needs, I batted my eyelashes at him, teasing him and smiling while I did it.

So Alex, I said, licking my lips, You said you're here for work? What do you do for a living, if I might ask?

Ahh, boring stuff. Nothing that would interest you, he said, waving his hand as if to dismiss my question. But if you must know, I'm in pharmaceutical sales. See? I told you that it was boring.

Looking at the impeccable suit and tie, designer label, doubt rose within my mind about what I was seeing as his cover story. Don't be silly. Stop questioning the motives and lives of everyone you meet. Just because he's a sexy Russian doesn't mean he's the enemy. Though of course, my bosses would probably see it that way. Some of them were Cold War leftovers who still believed that the only good Russian was a dead Russian.

Not that I cared too much. I wasn't supposed to be thinking about work after all, and besides, it wouldn't be the first time I played with fire.

And likely, it wouldn't be the last.

Would you like to grab some dinner tonight? Alex asked me. Because the life of a salesman can be pretty lonely, having company might be nice for a change. Especially company as attractive as you.

With an offer like that, how could I refuse?

Besides, I was supposed to be having fun and this would be the first date I'd had in years.

    Sure, Alex. That sounds great.

It may not have been the first time I played with fire, but I had to say... this was probably the hottest fire I'd tampered with yet.

    ––––––––

So Blair, what do you do for a living? Alex asked me, sipping from his glass of local red wine.

He looked comfortable and relaxed except for his eyes. They were darting around, almost like he was on guard and watching for something.

I'm in sales, I said. Cosmetics industry though.

Alex raised an eyebrow, looking as if he almost didn't believe me. But I flashed my perfect manicure at him and said, See? Beautiful nail polish isn't it? And it lasts and lasts, no matter what sort of rough activity I might be involved in.

Makeup. The most sure fire way to get any man to stop asking questions. Alex's eyes glazed over for a moment, but then he smiled again, taking another drink and said, Very nice. And what about your other makeup?

Truthfully, I wasn't wearing much. I hadn't seen the point of it while on vacation and my nail polish was just something I'd picked up for the trip from the local Wal-Greens. Not that I expected him to know the difference though.

It should hold up just fine. No matter what sort of activity I might get involved in, I said with a wink.

Alex seemed to take the hint, because he leaned forward, close enough that he could almost
