About this ebook

The menacing woods of Grizzly Falls, Montana, are not for the faint of heart. But for some, they’re the perfect setting for partying and pranks. They don’t know there’s a rapt audience amid the tangled trees, a killer with a different kind of game in mind, for whom the woods are dark and deep—and perfectly deadly…

Some places earn their bad reputation through tall tales or chance. Grizzly Falls is different. Here, killers aren’t just the stuff of legends and campfire lore. Someone is in the nighttime shadows, watching the local teens play around in the moonlit woods. Waiting for the right moment, the right victim. Waiting to take away a life.

Detective Regan Pescoli is counting the days until her maternity leave. Exhausted and emotional, the last thing she needs is another suspected serial killer. Especially when her daughter, Bianca, is swept up in the media storm. When a reality show arrives in town, the chaos only makes it harder for Pescoli and her partner, Selena Alvarez, to distinguish rumor from truth.

Another body is found…and another. And as the nightmare strikes closer to home, Pescoli races to find the terror lingering in the darkness, where there are too many places to hide…and countless places to die…

Another great mystery involving Detective Regan Pescoli & Detective Selma Alvarez! Lisa Jackson has an on going series based on these two detectives. Pescoli is a snarky almost 40 year old pregnant detective that has great instincts & feelings. Alvarez is more by the book & is sometimes frustrated by her partner. You wouldn't think these two would work together but the writer has their strengths & weaknesses complimenting each other. Lisa Jackson is one of my favorite authors. The familiar characteristics of her stories revolve around a strong plot, intriguing twists, well developed characters & a reason for murder. The supporting characters all lend believable to the plot & are the source of some miscommunication. In this case, Pescoli & Alvarez had to deal with a number of teenagers that were lying for one reason or another. Some had to do with the murder & some didn't. You also had parents stepping in to shield their kids from the police for one reason or another. I can always trust Lisa Jackson to deliver a mystery that keeps me involved from beginning to end!

Expecting to Die by Lisa JacksonTo Die #7Grizzly Falls, Montana seems to be a murder magnet. With more than one murder in the past that has been solved by Pescoli & Alvarez they are soon on the job again with a new body to find the murderer of. In this book Regan Pescoli is in her new home with Santana and very very pregnant. Alvarez is in a relationship that may or may not pan out. And, their job is to find the murderer of a female high school student found in the woods during a midnight game of hide and seek that may have included a Sasquatch. With all of the teens at the party potential suspects and obvious lies being told by most the hunt for the murderer is on. Before the end of the book a few more young women and a young man end up dead, a reality TV program begins filming, a kidnapping takes place, liars are thwarted and a baby is born. I love books by this author but this one did not grab me like her previous ones have. I am guessing that since the copy I read was an ARC the final version will be tighter, repetition will be deleted and the read will be better. I found it less believable and harder to follow the threads of than previous books but still a good read. I came away wondering if perhaps Alvarez might end up with Cooper Blackwater in a future book rather than with the man she is currently in a relationship with. I wanted to know more about Kayan Rule and some others on the police force. I felt sorry for the dysfunctional teens and many of their families living in Grizzly Falls. And, I wondered what the future holds in store for the main and supporting characters of this series. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC. This is my honest review. 3.5 Stars

Grizzly Falls, Montana, a quiet town to raise a family...until...it is not! Regan Pescoli is a cop due for maternity leave soon. Then, her older daughter Bianca finds a dead body after being chased by a Sasquatch(yes...that's what I said!). Regan cannot have this baby yet. She is in a race against the clock to solve these murders in her small town. Bianca is a typical teenager, easily manipulated and very quick with the attitude. I was not a huge fan of her character at the start of this read. She redeems herself as the tale weaves along. She has a strong fortitude and intellect which shows itself the more you get to know her. And, her mother Regan is one of the best female characters ever. She chooses her battles (especially with her ex) very carefully and wins quite a few. This is a true action packed read. Lisa Jackson always has the best "run away" scenes. I got out of breath as Bianca makes a run for it, not once, but twice in this story. I have read a couple of books in this series. I have not read them in order nor have I read them all. Does not really matter, you can pick up any of her novels in any series and just start reading. Lisa Jackson is a very consistent writer. I enjoy her books especially on trips. Her novels are fast-paced and suspenseful. I do not think I have ever "not finished" one of her books. Have I read them all? Absolutely not. She has tons of novels, with many different settings and characters. So, pick your favorite setting and take her on! I received this novel from Netgalley for a honest review.

Bodies are turning up in Grizzly Falls and homicide detectives Regan Pescoli and Selena Alvarez find their investigation hampered by the machinations of a reality show host and crew that come to town to hunt for the elusive Bigfoot. Complications ensue when the media frenzy draws Regan’s daughter, Bianca, into the spotlight . . . and Regan is about to give birth.Although this story works as a stand-alone, readers familiar with the series will immediately recognize many of the Grizzly Falls characters who return in this installment of the series. Building tensions ramp up the suspense and keeps those pages turning; the true-to-life emotions of the very pregnant Regan Pescoli add to both the realism and the tension. The pace is relentless, the narrative incorporates the Bigfoot legend in the mystery as the twists and turns of the plot keep readers guessing until the final unexpected reveal.Highly recommended.
