Book Abstract
America’s free and unfettered press was supposed to be a cornerstone of the democratic process envisioned by our Founding Fathers. To the great misfortune of Americans, our Founders did not adequately define this process or the terms and conditions under which such moral reckoning should be taking place. They appear to assume that journalists, like doctors or attorneys, were clear on what their job was and how to do it.
Alexandra Kitty believes journalists, Congress, media owners and Americans need to open a dialogue about why the assumptions implicit in the Constitution are no longer relevant.
