I still can’t believe a serial killer lived in our town.
said Frank, with a bright smile on his face.
His best friend, Bret was currently drinking from a bottle inside of a brown bag, shaking his head.
Christ, you’re worse than those fucking moms that sit around and watch Forensic Files all day.
What? You don’t think this is fucking interesting?
I never said it wasn’t interesting, but at the same time I’m not as excited about it as you are.
But don’t you find it crazy that our little town will be as infamous in serial killer lore as Milwaukee, Chicago and Tallahassee?
Yeah, just great. Now we’ll probably get a bunch of god damn tourists who want to see where Gary sliced and diced.
The serial killer that had reigned terror on their little town and surrounding counties was Gary Mills. What made the story all the more horrific and interesting was the fact that Frank and Bret spent almost every day with Gary from kindergarten all the way to their graduation ceremony.
Did you ever have your suspicions about Gary?
asked Frank.
Well, I mean he was always sort of a weird guy but I just naturally assumed he was the innocent type of weird. You know, obsessed with David Lynch films and someone who knew the plot to every Deadpool comic. He never seemed like a guy who would hide in the woods and wait for a jogger to come by so he could beat the guy’s head in.
What Bret had just described was essentially Gary’s first victim. Judging by the timeline, Gary was just beginning puberty when this took place.
Crazy, while we were watching softcore porn on Showtime, Gary was going around killing joggers.
That’s the thing about small towns, you think you know everybody but eventually you just learn that the normal people are just the ones who hide behind a mask better than anybody else.
