About this ebook
Willow, however, has been in love with Sam Brooks for as long as she can remember. But she wants her sister to have a happy ending. Besides, Willow has other things to focus on--namely, nabbing the job as youth pastor for her small-town church. Best thing for her to do is to purge Sam from her heart.
Neither can predict the events that will bring them together in a fight for their lives in the forbidding wilderness of Glacier National Park. Stranded, injured, and with the winter weather closing in, Sam and Willow will have to work together to save a crew of terrified teenagers. As they fight to survive, they might just discover a new hope for love.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked this better than the first book in the series but it still didn't quite live up to the standards of later books in the series. In fact, if you read these first two books, you'd think PEAK did nothing but rescue teens lost in the park and deal with bears. Unfortunately, all the potential couples in this series seem to have the same issues with romance. For various reasons, they don't want to admit what they feel. So instead of talking to one another to find out if there's any interest in seeing where the relationship will go, they either try to pretend they're only friends, or push the other person away, or any number of other actions that provide obstacles to romance. Unfortunately, after a while, it gets overly repetitive and boring. Sam thinks he wants Sierra (and keeps trying to figure out ways to get her to respond to his kisses etc.) Sierra is in love with Ian so I haven't figured out why she'd agree to date Sam--but I guess she has figured out that she doesn't love Sam, she just hasn't figured out how to tell him that. Instead, she tries to set him up with Willow because she knows Willow loves him--without bothering to tell Willow whom she should know will be loyal to her. Theirs is the big romance in this book though Pete/Jess are touched on as are Ian/Sierra. I guess since Sam doesn't show up as much in the later books, it hadn't dawned on me that he and Pete are brothers. I also hadn't realized that they'd had such a rift between them in the later novels in the series that I've read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Deputy Sam Brooks is responsible, structured and committed, if not a bit jaded. He surrounds himself with those like him and is avoidant of those who don't share his love of a predictable life – especially, his brother. His girlfriend, Sierra Rose, is the perfect girl for him as she's practical, organized, and can function under pressure. He sees her younger, impulsive sister, Willow, only as a friend until a church youth group outing to Glacier National Park goes wrong. As Sam and Willow brave the elements with a group of teenagers, Willow's admiration of Sam grows and Sam's interest in Willow heightens. Will Sam give up his safe relationship with Sierra for an unpredictable life with Willow? Read more in Rescue Me by Susan May Warren.Rescue Me is the second novel in Susan May Warren's Montana Rescue series. It could function as a stand-alone novel, but I wouldn't recommend reading it as such. Many of the characters from If Ever I Would Leave You (Montana Rescue prequel) and Wild Montana Skies (Montana Rescue #1) return. While sufficient background information is supplied, knowing the characters' histories adds depth, plus the lingering mystery of Esme Shaw continues in the background.Like many of Warren's books, Rescue Me, has one focal love story (Willow and Sam), while concurrently spinning another love story to be followed up on in a later publication. Normally, I'm not a big fan of that technique, but it totally works in Warren's novels.Rescue Me commences by dropping the reader straight into the mind of Deputy Sam Brooks facing a dangerous rescue mission. It gripped my attention and by the end of chapter two, I wanted to stay up late to devour the rest of the story. (Alas, I made the responsible choice and went to sleep instead of staying up until morning...) The plot never dragged. The characters developed as their relationships became more complicated. Sparks of romance combined with the ever-present danger created suspense. In short, Susan May Warren knows how her craft and is quickly rising up my list of favorite authors. Readers who enjoyed Wild Montana Skies by Susan May Warren will want to follow it up with Rescue Me. I recommend them both as gripping, romantic tales threaded with the grace and love of Christ.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed this adventure packed story set in the Glacier National Park. Susan May Warren’s skill at creating mental images that engage all of one’s senses places her readers squarely in the thick of things as grizzlies attack, people and vehicles hang precariously on narrow mountain ledges, and swimmers and non-swimmers are swept along a freezing, rushing, boulder filled river. Rescue Me has no shortage of heroes who are ready and prepared to come to the rescue, members of the PEAK Search and Rescue Team. Of course, there are times when they themselves are the ones in need of being rescued by One much greater than they. Love misunderstood would perhaps be the best description of this tale, the love between parent and child, and the love between a man and a woman. We each see life and love through different lenses, lenses that sometimes cloud our understanding of another’s view. It is the love of God that brings clarity. Rescue Me is the second book in the Montana Rescue series; unfortunately, I had not read the first, but this posed no problem with my understanding and enjoying this book. I am looking forward to reading both the previous and subsequent books in this series. I recommend this book to those who like high adventure and/or romantic fiction. It’s a good read for a cold day indoors or a warm day on the beach. I thank Revell Publishing and the Christian Blog Alliance for providing this book for my honest opinion. I received no monetary compensation for providing this review.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Title: Rescue Me (Montana Rescue #2)Author: Susan May WarrenPages: 336Year: 2017Publisher: RevellMy rating 5+ out of 5 stars.FYI the third book in the series titled, A Matter of Trust is slated to be published July of 2017!Rescue Me is the sequel to Wild Montana Skies where we meet a slew of characters from all sorts of life experiences, education and dreams. What touched me most about the title and book was the author’s note about her life during the writing of the novel, which I am sure will touch the heart of many people as we tend to forget that authors are people too.In the story, we get to meet Willow who is a very caring, loving young woman who also wears her heart on her sleeve. Deputy Sam Brooks though is the polar opposite of Willow in that he doesn’t allow himself to try new experiences. In fact, he has built a wall around his heart, thinking it will keep him from experiencing pain again. However, he is also missing out on experiencing love, mercy, compassion and a deeper walk with God.Willow volunteers to work with the youth group at her church and sometimes her spur of the moment decisions get her into deep trouble or hard places. Her sister, Sierra Rose, is the only family Willow feels who loves her for who she is and will not leave Willow no matter what happens. On what was to be a day hike with the youth group where Sam also goes along to keep them safe and help with the youth suddenly turns into trying to stay alive in a remote part of the forest. Now PEAK is involved to help locate the group, but the weather isn’t cooperating and Sam might not make it out alive!Susan May Warren is a gifted author who tells compelling tales in a setting fraught with danger, adventure, family and faith. I enjoy books that pull me in and make the people real as they make bad choices or wrestle out issues they may have with God due to a life experience. Each book set in Montana is so well described it makes me want to go and see the mountains and forests, but not the bears in this book!If you have never read any of Susan’s novels you are in for a real treat! I do find it helpful to read her series in order as each story builds upon the previous book. So, before book three comes out, catch up and like me look forward to the next novel with expectation for more adventures in Montana!
