Chapter One
Brad Morrison took the elegant gold pen from his inside pocket and slowly twisted the top to expose the tip. He sifted through the dissolution of marriage document on the polished wooden desk and pressed the pen to paper. He lifted his head at the lawyer’s voice.
This is so final, Brad, are you sure? Jane has suggested a marriage counselor.
Bradley dropped his shoulders and glared across the table at his wife. Her sickly sweet perfume burned his nostrils, and her small, frequent sobs were getting on his nerves. Yes, I’m sure. I am afraid no amount of counseling will fix our marriage. I’ve offered her a very generous settlement, and it’s over.
"Brad, please, I don’t want this, can’t we talk some more?" Jane grabbed another pile of tissues from the box in front of her and dabbed at her perfectly made-up eyes.
Bradley lifted his chin and shook his head. What was with the water works? The woman had no interest in him whatsoever. They had been friends once and they’d both entered into a marriage of convenience with their eyes wide open. She knew he was gay, and he’d been foolish to spend his entire life acting the part of a straight man for the sake of his father. For his old man’s sake, he’d become very good in his role of her doting husband, but he could not live the lie another moment.
Yeah, he could have tried harder to make the marriage work. He understood heaps of women lived happily with gay men. He could have been the support she needed and the cover for her wild sexcapades—if she had accepted the fact, he needed a man in his life and wanted to explore his own sexuality but the moment he brought up the subject, she’d turn on the tears. He had never been the type to sneak out to meet men in bars and, at first, living with her had withheld his true self from his father, but now he didn’t give a damn who knew he was gay.
The cracks in their marriage started the day Jane had the crazy idea she could change him. She refused to accept the fact he didn’t want more than friendship with her. Hell, he didn’t care if she took lovers, in fact, he welcomed them into his home. The day she’d tried to force him into a ménage with her and her boyfriend had changed his life forever. At first, her constant sexual innuendos just got on his nerves, but when he came home from work to find Jane and her boyfriend naked in his bed, it was the last straw. The idea of making love to Jane or watching her with her lover made his stomach retch, and he told her so.
Looking back on that day, he should thank her for the opportunity to start his life afresh. Without Jane in his life, he could find someone to love.
Ignoring her pathetic attempts to sway him, he flattened one hand on the divorce paper and signed with a flourish then tossed the document across the table to his now ex-wife.
You turned my heart to ice, but now I am free at last. He lifted his chin and glared at her. You’ve seven days to remove your belongings from my house. Good-bye, Jane, it was ... an experience.
* * *
The moment Brad walked from the lawyer’s office, a great burden lifted from his shoulders. He had lived a lie, played a part to please his father and denied his sexuality. He wanted more, a true relationship with a man and someone to explore the kinkier side of his nature. Deep inside, he craved domination and a man of his own. Living under his father’s thumb was over. He’d come out, recognized his true self, and wanted to wallow in the joy of personal freedom. Hell yeah, he’d had a tasty experiment
but now craved a Dom, a man, he could trust with his total submission.
He turned into the hall and grinned at the sight of Jett Silver waiting by the elevator. He’d developed a close friendship with Jett over the past year. His friend had a brooding quality, a take charge, in your face, don’t fuck with me, persona and he craved to be under a flogger wielded by him, or licking a wet path up his tight leather pants. Oh, man, if only you were a Dom.
Jett sure resembled a Dom, especially with the black leather armbands he wore exercising. He worked in a building across the road, as some high-flying agent for rock bands. He’d met him at the local sports club, and the sexual God had approached him seeking someone to spot him on the weights. Since then they’d worked out together, hitting the weights four times a week. Oh boy, he loved how this man ordered him around in the gym. He’d wondered about Jett’s sexuality, but his friend had made no sexual moves in his direction. Surely Jett couldn’t have failed to notice his attraction toward him? Fuck, the moment, Jett bent over him to support the bar, Brad’s shorts had done nothing to hide his arousal.
He bit back a chuckle. Spotting Jett on the weights had become an enjoyable pastime. Man, he had to stop himself drooling over the delicious slide of taut muscles under his damp, tanned skin. He wanted to sink his fingers into the sheet of ebony liquid silk brushing the man’s broad shoulders. The handsome man had become an obsession—too bad if the guy was straight.
He wet his lips and his gaze feasted on his friend’s hard muscular body. His attention went to Jett’s amazing green eyes, shaded by long ebony lashes. His friend’s soulful expression sent heat straight to his balls. So yeah, saying he lusted after the hunk was an understatement.
He dropped his gaze, relieved when the metallic doors slid open.
"You
