Zera Walthrup rolled her eyes. She knew her boss didn’t have a real emergency, but she put aside the work she was hunched over and stood from her desk immediately. Graeme Therrien wasn’t the least bit patient. As one of the largest book publishers in California, he didn’t suffer dawdling – or not being the center of undivided attention. Zera hated herself a little for jumping when he snapped his fingers, but it was all part of the game.
