About this ebook

Single again and alone on New Year’s Eve, Jerry’s only excitement is a messy DIY project. But when he calls an agency to arrange some help with the clean up, he’s attracted by Sean’s friendly, delightful telephone voice. That’s just what Jerry expects from a conscientious personal services company.

That’s what their advert said, wasn’t it?

It’s a while before he realises exactly what mistake he’s made... but in the meantime, he and Sean have got a lot closer. Jerry’s embarrassment turns swiftly to amusement and hope. Perhaps the New Year will bring him a whole new kind of personal service!

Clare London

Clare took the pen name London from the city where she lives, loves, and writes. A lone, brave female in a frenetic, testosterone-fuelled family home, she juggles her writing with the weekly wash, waiting for the far distant day when she can afford to give up her day job as an accountant. She’s written in many genres and across many settings, with novels and short stories published both online and in print. She says she likes variety in her writing while friends say she’s just fickle, but as long as both theories spawn good fiction, she’s happy. Most of her work features male/male romance and drama with a healthy serving of physical passion, as she enjoys both reading and writing about strong, sympathetic and sexy characters.Clare currently has several novels sulking at that tricky chapter 3 stage and plenty of other projects in mind . . . she just has to find out where she left them in that frenetic, testosterone-fuelled family home. All the details and free fiction are available at her website. I think when they insisted at work I take some of my accrued holiday over Christmas and New Year, they thought I’d go sunning myself in the Caribbean, or travelling the sights in Eastern Europe. I wondered wryly what they’d say if, instead, they saw me up to my arms in water under the kitchen sink, wrestling with filthy, rust-locked pipes while I fixed the ancient plumbing. Or—hold the front page!—celebrating my DIY success, sitting on the sofa with a modest meal for one and the last glass from a good red wine. Which was where I was now, catching up on a detective series on DVD. On New Year’s Eve. And on my own.

I flipped off the TV and sat back with a sigh. The house was still a bit of a mess after the kitchen repairs. I’d moved the contents of a couple of cupboards into the living room while I accessed the pipes, and piles of old crockery were still stacked up beside the bookcase. Some plates broke during the project, and although I’d swept up the remains at the time, I could still see a fine china dust under the armchair. It was mixed in with shreds of tinsel from the tree, and a collection of nut shells. I’d also walked the rust on the bottom of my shoes across the living room carpet more than once, and there were additional stains on
