CHAPTER ONE

The Wedding

A bead of nervous sweat tickled its way slowly down the hollow of my back as it rolled from hair to tiny hair. I tried to resist the urge to squirm, as well as the urge to swat at the annoying gnat that had chosen the last thirty seconds to begin buzzing in my ear. I willed myself to remain still and composed; the video camera was rolling after all.

The final members of the wedding party reached the dais and the bridal march began. I sneaked a quick peek at Craig, my best man; his face was split in a big goofy grin. He reached up and gave my shoulder a squeeze as I raised my eyes to the archway. And then she was there.

My breath caught. I couldn’t believe that this beautiful woman was walking down the aisle to stand with me. Her feet were nestled in white high heeled sandals. Her long sculpted legs, tanned by the Southern California sun, disappeared just below the knees under the flowing skirt of a lacy white dress. The dress stopped at the top of her breasts, her shoulders and arms were bare, her soft skin glowing in the sunshine. Dark brown hair glistened with reflected sunlight and framed the most beautiful face I had ever laid eyes on. Her cupids bow lips were smiling; a frame of pink around snow white teeth. My eyes followed the delicate line of her nose to her eyes. Those eyes I knew so well. Those eyes that I got lost in every day. Those eyes with topaz flecks swimming in liquid hazel. Those eyes that caught mine as she reached for my hand. Those eyes that looked at me with love; and so much more.

The sounds of surf, seagulls, and terns wafted up over the edge of the cliff we stood upon. I gave Lisa’s hand a squeeze and turned my eyes to Patti. A breeze sighed through the boughs of the pine trees that surrounded the grassy park.

Patti’s words seemed to be drifting to my ears from afar as she began the ceremony. I forced myself to swim up from the depths of Lisa’s eyes as Pattie began to lead us through our vows.

Lisa, do you promise to love, honor, and cherish this man until death do you part? Patti asked.

I do, Lisa said with a smile, her eyes locked onto mine.

Tom, do you promise to love, honor, and obey this woman until death do you part?

There were a few chuckles from the assembled guests as they realized that Patti had reversed the traditional vows. Many of the guests were aware that I generally deferred to Lisa in our relationship. A very few guests understood the depth of my deference and that my promise to obey was no joking matter.

I do, I answered, my voice cracking with emotion as I made the promise that bound me to Lisa, not just as her husband but also as her slave, for the rest of my life.

CHAPTER TWO

Second Anniversary

Zip me up, Lisa’s voice chimed from the alcove of our room in the Chateau Dauphine hotel in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

Setting my book on the side table I rose from the chair and stepped around the corner. My eyes caught Lisa’s in the mirror and I smiled. She looked so beautiful. I once again thanked my lucky stars that she had both married and accepted ownership of me two years ago today.

You look gorgeous, I whispered into her ear as my fingers found the tab of the zipper and drew it up her back.

She turned into my arms; her fingers entwined in my hair and pulled my lips to hers. Her soft lips parted and her tongue flicked against my lips, coaxing them to part as well.
