Lillian I Wolfe

Born in a different century, Lillian Wolfe migrated from the western part of Texas to Los Angeles where she lived for a few years before moving to Nevada ̶̶  first Las Vegas, then Reno.  She now makes her home in the Washoe Valley area and loves the life in Northern Nevada. She worked with computers and as a technical writer and trainer for several years for a major gaming manufacturer before her retirement.  For the past few years, she's turned her attention back to her first, and on-going love, of creative writing. She published her first book, "Funeral Singer", in 2015.  A paranormal suspense novel, it explores the possibility of another life after death as a musician's accidental head injury allows her to see and interact with ghosts in an ethereal cemetery. Is she really talking to them or is it just a hallucination? The second book in the series, "A Song for Menafee" is available at Amazon now, but both of these will be moving to other platforms soon. "O'Ceagan's Legacy" is the first book in a science fiction adventure series, following a family-owned merchant ship from an Irish colony in the Dragon Star system. It's a rollicking ride through space with a little romance thrown in. For more information, visit my blog site at www.LillianWolfe.me/loft

    About the Author

    The Wizard’s Gift

The candle flames cast an eerie glow swirling mist that rose from the floor. In the cavern-like room it grew thicker, rising and swirling until it coalesced into a great luminous ball in the center of the room.

Ho sar tilth, kreshna num, Jobid intoned, his voice soft yet clear in the silent room, and the ball began to pulse and vibrate with iridescent color.

Forming a slowly appearing image at first, it increased in speed, a scene forming in the hollow of the orb. A young man clung to the back of a black horse, his equally dark cloak flying out behind him as the animal plunged through the woods. Its nimble feet dodged broken branches as it darted around the trees. Lumbering after the horse and rider, an enormous beast with great jaws like a lion and a head shaped and horned like a giant bull pursued them.  The animal, a kailhoth, bore an extra set of bear-like arms that it used to knock branches aside as its long stride made up for what it lacked in speed.

As they reached a clearing where they was room enough to move, the youth yanked  back on the horse’s reins,  bringing it to a near halt, then around toward the approaching danger.  He swung down from the saddle, slipping his hand to pull his sword from its scabbard.

Just at the edge of the clearing, the kailhoth slowed and began to circle its adversary. No dumb animal this, but an intelligent, cunning creature born of blood and magic. Likewise was the lad who turned as the creature moved toward him. Keeping his sword leveled toward the beast, his gray eyes locked, unflinching in courage and focus, with the animal’s
