Crafted Food & Drink — Philadelphia & Delaware Valley - Robert LeBrun

    Classes

    Introduction

During the summer of 2014, my family and I visited Asheville, NC and fell in love with the crafted food and drink scene there. Over a dozen brewpubs and breweries call Asheville home, along with one of my favorite artisanal cheesemakers, Looking Glass Creamery. (If you ever find yourself in that part of the country, a visit to their little store on Noble Road is well worth the effort.)

Upon our return to Philadelphia, I began to wonder what the artisanal cheesemakers in this area were like. I searched online and discovered there are many artisanal cheesemakers in this area — so many that I bookmarked them in my web browser by geography, e.g., Chester County Cheesemakers, Lancaster County Cheesemakers, etc. Using this collection of bookmarked websites I began exploring Delaware Valley artisanal cheese. The process was always the same. First I would become enticed by something I saw or read on a website and then I would find their location and plan a visit. I didn’t know it then but what I had been doing was laying the foundation for what would become Crafted Food & Drink — Philadelphia & Delaware Valley.

Fast forward to the summer of 2016 and by then I had bookmarked the websites of virtually every Delaware Valley cheesemaker. It was at that point I thought about making an e-book directory of Delaware Valley artisanal cheese.
