Louis Ferdinand Destouches, known as Céline, was a French author who was born in 1894 and died in 1961. He is considered one of the major novelists of the 20th century for his works, including Journey to the End of the Night (1932) and Death on Credit (1936).
A trained doctor, he drew the main inspiration for his literary works from an unusual life path which saw him visit multiple destinations (England, Cameroon, USA) and try different jobs.
