- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5didn't really help me find what i wanted, it didn't seem like fanfiction
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Very clearly, the author is passionate about the topic. This book wasn't written without ambition. However, I found the formatting a little unprofessional - perhaps that is because I am reading it online? Or maybe because it is a book about fanfiction? The book could have been refined.

How To Write Mind Blowing FanFiction - Roslyn Thomas
Inspiration
––––––––
Sometimes it so happens, we read a great story and are enamored by it. It sparks our imagination and we dream about writing a Fanfic inspired by it. We start imagining, what could happen in a story or with a character. It evokes a desire to create our own imaginary world. We start thinking about all kinds of scenarios. What would it be like if, this scene had happened this way or how would this celebrity act in that situation. We are filled with excitement about the possibilities we can create for him or her and feel an uncontrollable compulsion to write this story.
––––––––
Where do these ideas come from? Do you remember the first time you felt this desire to write a Fanfic?
––––––––
I remember exactly when I got my first Fanfic idea. It was on September 22, 2015. I had read an awesome kpop fanfic called Anterograde Tomorrow. I was fascinated by the idea that a regular person, a Kpop fan just like me, had written this. I could not stop thinking about it the whole night. And the next day, early in the evening, right after sunset, I had a flash of an inspiration. I thought, what if I could write a story about my favorite kpop star? What would that experience feel like?
––––––––
I've been an avid reader all my life but before this moment I never thought I’d want to write something. I thought the skill to write stories is an inherent talent; some people just know how to write, while others can’t. But once I had this inspiration, it was like a buzzing energy that I could not shake off. It percolated in my mind every hour of the day. So the next day I thought, you know what, I should write this Fanfic, just to get the darn idea out of my head.
––––––––
So I grabbed a pen and book, and started to write. But guess what, I had no idea how to write a Story. I had only a vague idea - what if something happened to, let’s say Exo’s Baekhyun. What if he was struggling with his singing? That’s all I had. But how do to turn that idea into a story? I did not know how to even begin.
––––––––
I have read a lot of books but never paid attention to how stories are written. I only knew a story has three parts - a beginning, a middle and an end. I found out, this isn’t enough when it comes to actually writing a story. So I started searching online for books to teach me how to write Fanfiction. Through a process of learning, I figured out the essential elements to write a great story.
––––––––
Writing is an exciting process, if you know the basics. It’s a journey which takes days when you have to sit alone with the keyboard. It requires a certain mental discipline but most of the time, it feels like you are doing nothing. You have to create something from nothing and during this period, it does feel like a struggle. You feel you are completely on your own and there's no one around to help you with it.
––––––––
So to make this process easy for you, I want to share the tips and techniques that I found useful in my struggle to learn writing. I hope this book will help make your writing journey much more easy and enjoyable.

Fanfiction world

There are two main methods of writing and most writers fall into one or the other category. First there are the Pantsers, meaning they write by the seat of the pants and make up things as you go. It’s only after they finish writing the story, that they will add structure to it. This is also called the organic method of writing.
––––––––
The other type are the Plotters. These writers prefer to write down a clear outline of what their story is going to be about; before they start writing the first draft.
––––––––
You can only find out what type of a writer you are once you start writing. With regular practice, you will discover which method is more suitable for you.
