Dedication
I dedicate this book to someone greater than myself. As free spirit-thinkers we choose our destiny. Thank you, Jesus, for setting the stage so that I may play my part. In accordance to what I have written, Compassionate Dreams
, there comes a time when we will meet someone in the physical form that seems to hold the key to our happiness and replenishes the love we have yearned for. Until that time comes, you will always be the number one key person in my life, second to none!
Acknowledgement
To the higher power Lord Jesus. I do not worship you just because; I worship you in spite of all the trials and tribulations I have gone through. You still showed me unconditional love from the beginning until the end of my existence. The Alpha and Omega you are never judgmental as you stand by my side and even if you were disappointed with me at times, you have never given up on me. You’ve given me a gift with everlasting batteries, and my ambition as a writer has manifested by your hand alone. Thank you. To all my readers: for the purpose of creating a love story, all characters and scenarios are fictional.

Drifting on a Memory
CHAPTER 1
It was the summer of 2015 when Raymond Carter met Gabby lee. She was checking out at the counter of a local convenience store. She stood about five foot and five inches tall, 120 pounds with jet black hair down to her shoulders, and her light brown eyes complemented her caramel skin tone. Oh, she was a sight for sore eyes!
Raymond stood about six foot and three inches tall, 210 pounds with a bald head and wide shoulders. His eyes seemed to have a hazel tint to them, and his skin was that of a darker caramel. As far as Gabby was concerned, later after meeting Raymond, she thought he was somewhat of a chick magnet.
As Gabby turned to walk out the store, there, seven feet in front of her, stood Raymond, the man who would turn out to be the love of her life. Neither one of them was prepared for the looks that would transcend them into pure bliss.
Gabby’s father and her two older brothers named David and Michael were very tall men. As long as Gabby could remember she has been drawn to tall, dark, and older men. One could say that may have been Gabby’s kryptonite and from the look she gave Raymond, she felt as if he knew it. As a courtesy gesture, Gabby said hello to Raymond and excused herself as she attempted to walk around the small space provided between the two.
Nevertheless, before any words were spoken Raymond noticed Gabby looking in his direction and felt compelled to respond as if Gabby had set the stage in order to gain his attention. In a flirtatious manner, Raymond seems to have utilized every available space between them making it so that Gabby had to pause in order to pass him by. At the risk of slightly touching her shoulder Raymond began rambling on about how familiar she looked.
Little did she know the only people Raymond knew since he had moved from Iowa to Indianapolis were a few cousins, his sister, and a niece. The list was very limited, and Raymond knew Gabby wasn’t on that list according to the people he already met through his family members. Yet Raymond was determined to make their encounter last so he decided to ask Gabby for her phone number. He was astonished by Gabby’s response when she told him it would be more convenient if he gave her his number. Gabby watched Raymond as he quickly fumbled around
