“I’m being considered as a partner of my advertising company. My boss Jackie who you met has a two-day yacht trip planned for the three candidates. She wants to see how we interact, and she wants us to pitch our ideas for building the company in a nice relaxed, atmosphere. When she met you last night, she got the wrong impression. She thinks we are dating, and that I’m keeping you a secret. She wants you to accompany me on the trip. I tried to explain that you couldn’t make it, but she won’t take no for an answer,” explained Taryn who was feeling out of breath as she talked so fast.

“So, did you just explain that we’re not dating?” asked Chad with a twinkle of merriment in his eyes.

“I tried, but she thinks I’m keeping you a secret. She wouldn’t believe me if I told her that,” sighed Taryn.

“Let me see if I understand. You basically need me. Well, this is a funny situation. Here’s the deal. If you want me to take off two days from work to help you get a promotion, then I’m not going to pretend to be your boyfriend, I’m going to BE your boyfriend for those two days. That means that I can hold your hand, give you a hug, rub your back, and kiss you whenever I want. This will be fun,” grinned Chad.

Taryn gasped. You could see the wheels turning in her mind. Chad was just standing there with a smirk.

    Chapter 1

Taryn Meyer was in her Monday morning staff meeting.  She was excited because she had been asked to present to the group. She was in charge of the companies’ biggest advertising account, Delbri Food Solutions.  They were a health food company. They also had many break off brands of household items.  Taryn had brought several big accounts into the company, which made her valuable.  Her background in graphic arts and marketing had really helped the client’s see her vision for their products.  The clients could also see how fresh and creative her concepts were.  Taryn had presented the information well and with confidence.  When the meeting was over several people stopped to ask her questions.  She made sure not to leave until everyone’s questions was answered.  After visiting with people she went back to her desk and plopped in her chair to recover from the stress of being in front of everyone.

How did the presentation go? asked Jenna her co-worker.

I think it went well.  I’m so glad it’s over, smiled Taryn as she scrolled through the emails on her phone.

"I’m sure you did a good job because you always do well.

Thanks.  I’m always surprised at how stressed out I get, said Taryn as she took a drink from her water bottle.

I have an email from Reno High School class of 2005, Taryn held up her phone towards Jenna.

Well, open it up, encouraged Jenna.

I’ve been invited to the class reunion to be held June 26 and 27.  It says on Friday we will have a dance at the high school.  Saturday will be a dinner at the Peppermill Casino in downtown Reno.  I can’t believe it’s been ten years since I’ve graduated from high school explained Taryn.

Are you going to go? asked Jenna.

I’m not sure.  It would be fun to see my friends again.  I guess I’m going to have to think about it, Taryn said.

Taryn couldn’t stop thinking about the reunion.  The more she thought about it the more excited she was getting.  It would be fun to show her classmates what she had made of herself.   She hadn’t been the most popular girl in school.  She was a flag twirler, which she enjoyed.  She loved the school colors of red and blue.  It felt so patriotic.  She was also on
