Beth had never considered herself to be an adventurous person, and yet here she was on this trip with a bunch of people she didn’t even know. The craziest part was that she’d never been on a lake in her entire life; everything about this situation was completely new to her. Many of the others who had been chosen for the trip had at least done extreme sports, camping, hiking, and other outdoorsy type things, but not her, not ever. 

At 5’6 her frame was curvy and not built for the outdoor life. She also didn’t much care for the whole living off the land" type of lifestyle. She was a city girl at heart. Sure, she had been a Girl Scout way back when, but that was almost fifteen years ago. The only reason she had even applied for this competition was the money. $100,000 would allow her to open her own salon; a dream she’d treasured since she was a girl. 

Now that everyone had arrived at the starting point, Beth was able to get a good look at the rest of the group. Five men and five women, including herself. She had to admit that the men were good-looking, especially the one who came from Wisconsin, Zander. He was tall and very muscular. There was something about him that drew her to him. Of course, her friends would have a field day, since he was white.  She’d never really been attracted to white guys before. This guy was different somehow. Every time he looked over at her, she found herself blushing and looking away. 

She wasn’t completely used to the type of attention he was giving her. She was a thicker girl, with a big butt and big boobs. She drew attention, sure, but it was usually nasty catcalls when she walked home from work; nothing like what she felt when he looked at her.  She was used to being the cute side kick to her more svelte friends.  As a result, she was used to being alone.
