- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The nightmares return for Stacey just when she thinks her life is pretty darn close to perfect. The perfect boyfriend, great school, and pretty darn awsome friends or so she thinks. Drea and her seem off (I'm not a Drea fan, and this book doesn't help...), Chad and her seem to be missing something, and her nightmares she can't quite piece together. Stacey is in a whirlpool of confusion through the whole book to get the answers before it is too late...
Stolarz is one of my favorite authors, I love her language and the way to build up the thrill for the readers. I just had issues with Chad and Drea through the book. I think I just kept comparing this book to the touch series which isn't fair to it... Though this book has it's fair share of amusing characters. Though it got a little repeative to read 'm is for murder.' Though there was a string of creepy characters! Sorry I'm doing like 5 things at once while writing this review... - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5White is for Magic by Laurie Faria Stolarz is about a high school girl named Stacy and a year later it's happening again. She is having terrible and disturbing nightmares. However this time they are about her past. There are also other problems. Stacey can't ignore the strange letters that she's been receiving. There is No return address, no signature - and the same messages she's been hearing in her nightmares. What's worse is that Stacey's not the only one having nightmares. There's a new boy named Jacob and he claims that he's been having nightly premonitions of Stacey's death for months. He says his dreams so realistic that he transferred schools to find her and stop the killer. Stacy now has to trust Jacob or else there will be consequences.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Stacey is a Wiccan teenager who has premonitions of death. When she starts having nightmares, she must put together the clues that come to her in her dreams to figure out who is trying to kill her.I absolutely love this series! Stolarz once again sucks the reader in from page one and keeps you reading all night long. If you like magic and fantasy, this is a book for you!Series order: Blue, White, Silver, Red, Black
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5White is for Magic is the second in the Stolarz series. It continues to follow the life of Stacey Brown in her senior year of boarding school. She has been getting nightmares about Maura and Veronica who have already died. She qustions why she is dreaming about people she saw murdered and Drea who she saved last year from Donnovan. Then she meets a Jacob a transfer student from colorado who comes to her aid as she starts to think she may be next. I over all really enjoyed the book.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is the second book in the Blue is for Nightmares series by Stolarz. I thought that this book was a bit better than the first book. This book does follow in the same vein as the first book in that is weaves creepy story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and keeps you guessing. It is the start of the new school year and Stacey is having nightmares again. Only for reason these nightmares are about people who have died in her past. Stacey figures out that this time it is her life on the line and a creepy stalker is out to get her. This is once again a skillfully woven story. It is full of suspense and is very creepy. There is some magic woven in in the form of Stacey's visions and her practicing magic. There were some things that I thought were improved over the first book. While the Wiccan rituals are still very much a part of the book, I didn't think they distracted from the story this time. I also thought the inclusion of Jacob was wonderful; he is a great character and keeps the story interesting. The story was still kind of over-creepy for me; very teen horror movie without all of the gore. This book could be read as a stand alone book; although I think it would make more sense to you if you read the first book in the series (Blue is for Nightmares).Good book; I look forward to reading the next book Silver is for Secrets.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Blue is for Nightmares series by Laurie Faria Stolarz has been one of my favorites for a while now. These stories are about witchcraft. I love the darkness and suspense of these books. Certain aspects will really stick with you (the Miss Marry Mack rhyme in White is for Magic comes to mind. *shivers*)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Seventeen-year-old Stacey Brown is having nightmares again. She is haunted by the ghost of dead people. She shouldn't pay attention to the dreams but when she starts getting strange letters she can't help but to remember the dreams. She needs help or someone could die. This book enhances mind. That is why I liked it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I most definitely loved this series. It was creative, interesting, and well written.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Summary: Stacey is back and this time someone's after HER. Can a mysterious stranger, who also practice magic and is having some strange nightmares about her, really help her. Or is it too much of a coincidence?Review: All I'm saying is it's a match made in heaven.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Summary: It's senior year and Stacey's nightmares are back. Not only is Maura haunting her still, but Veronica is doing her share as well. Is Jacob, a transfer student, really trying to help her?The Take-Away: I have to admit, that I thought this was the first book in the series, but it's the second. I'm confused as to why Stacey is at a boarding school, but I did get a tiny hint. Bonus points to anyone that does some research or asks the author and reports back to me.Stacey's nightmares aren't as clear cut this time. She has to rely on and trust others, something that doesn't come easy for her. At the high point in the novel, Stacey continues not trusting people. Without giving too much away, by staying in character, Stacey doesn't make the best decision. But it's true to herself. I imagine that this was agony to the author, but necessary.Recommendation: You won't be ruin too much, if you start with this one, but the first title, Blue is for Nightmares, is great also.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I picked up White is for Magic on a whim. I saw it, read the back, thought it would be an easy read for a summer's afternoon, and purchased it. This might be a good book for a preteen; possibly someone even younger. I was bored within the first 20 pages. I knew how it was going to end almost immediately. I think the book is also part of a series, which in that case, I wouldn't bother with the other ones.
