Chapter One
The Crew
A large starship, almost invisible in the vast emptiness of space, stands lifeless with a few scattered planets amongst the stars, a shattered wing and communications tower pass into view as the ship floats along. Barely a distant bleep emits from the emergency lights can be heard.
The ship ventures into part of space that most fear to go, for the rumours that have been echoed throughout the decades. Some visitors cower in fear, naming this corner of the universe The Devils Back Yard
.
Although lifeless, the ship illuminates with just a mere few red lights flashing from the remains of the backup power. Not even the outlines of this large starship are bright enough to show the battered and bruised remnants of the galaxy cruiser.
Sparks and explosions are the only signs of life in the darkness, the light from the fires
reflect off the glass from the compartment
windows show just a glimmer of floating debris, orbiting the ship.
As the ship floats in the endless space, it descends ever closer to the atmosphere of a light blue and green planet, surrounded by a mist of pure turquoise.
Inside the corridors, dark walls mirror the world outside with a row of small lights running along the floor.
Meanwhile, in the cockpit, Tracey the main Captain and leader of the tourism group awakens bleeding slightly from her forehead, her clothes torn and blood soaked with the stench of burning swooping through the cracks. Wiping her forehead, she looks around the room at the devastation that lays before her, with chairs flung against the console’s in front of her and computer screens hanging from their wires smashed with parks emitting from the wires.
Peering down at the console she sees the oxygen needle dipping lower and lower, with a few checks of the computer and a look out the window, she shouts to the crew...
Hey! Is everyone ok? Oh great! Bloody fantastic engines are off, oxygen low, communication shattered to a billion pieces not to mention we are freaking blind up here, and to top everything off we have no life support. James!!!.... hail someone down NOW!
With all the staff getting to their feet they say one by one I’m ok!
.
Panic starts to overwhelm the captain, with engineers getting frantic in the engine room, echoes of shouting fills the corridors. The communications officer snaps back into action and tries desperately to get someone to answer his pleas.
Mid-panting, he tries to catch his
