    What others are saying about

In The Eye Of The Sphinx.

The Parallel Universes Bridge sounds very much like what MacGuffin used in the TV show Fringe. I like the yin yang duality scene you describe, perhaps a reptilian look at the current donkey-elephant party system of ours?

Dedication: I dedicate my first novella to the historic island of Tenedos, located near the entrance of the Dardanelles and famous for its grapes and wine. As written in Homer’s Iliad, it is where the Greek fleet led by Agamemnon that set out for Troy had first landed. It was the birthplace of my father Anastasios and my grandparents Heidi and Harold.

    The Great Sound

The great sound measured space, time, and patience.

Energy congealed into particles—positive and negative

    As the universe inflated

    Matter and antimatter separated

Then mineral, vegetable, and animal did live

Until the day all deflated into radiance.

    Biography

Preface: Early in my life I became intrigued on the existence of intelligent life forms beyond. Especially since those life forms seem to be attracted to our very own planet earth.

My first encounter occurred in Queens, New York City in the early 1970’s. From the vantage point of our second floor balcony my family and I were entertained one summer night by multicolored rotating lights circling above the duplex homes across the street and not far from the Consolidated Edison power plant.

My second encounter was seeing US Phantom Jets circle and approach a polished silver flying saucer above our property located ten miles south of Thomas Jefferson’s home Monticello. That episode impressed upon me the advanced technology of the saucer displayed in juxtaposition to three Air Force jets which struggled to overcome gravity. The saucer did not attempt to avoid nor threaten them. It hovered and bobbed for most of an hour until it appeared to become bored and suddenly shoot straight up until it disappeared from sight. One Phantom attempted to follow until it reached its maximum elevation and then all the three peeled away back to home base. That classic saucer--comparable in size to one of those jets--seemed to be playful. It made its presence and intentions known during that one bright sunny day in the spring of 1976.

About two weeks later I encountered a long cylindrical vehicle with a hull of dull multi-metallic veins. It moved very slowly following the nap-of-the-earth approximately ten feet above the electric transmission cables over our small ranch. I cautiously walked underneath and heard a low hum, which may have revealed its anti-gravity propulsion system. The same large enclosed pipe vehicle reappeared the following week as my mother and sister walked to our rural postal box to retrieve the mail. Apparently it traveled below radar detection since no military or police vehicle followed. I conjecture it was a probe or drone surveying for underground water channels or mineral deposits. They both seemed to have a pre-determined direct course over and beyond our property.

My third experience occurred many years later while staring out my kitchen window washing the dishes. I witnessed that well publicized event of a large V-shaped UFO flying above Signal Mountain in Phoenix Arizona in March of 1997.

Are there one or many extraterrestrial civilizations that are aware of our existence? Are one or more responsible for our survival? Have they been influencing humanity from the start? I am convinced that they are not only technologically but also spiritually advanced. The question remains, are we prepared to follow their leadership even though it may subjugate our own? As proved by the continual survival of earth and its inhabitants these advanced beings are not our enemies. Have they sacrificed their own life and limb to keep other more belligerent civilizations at bay? In spite of being terrible caretakers we inhabit the most hospitable planet in the known universe. Why are we so fortunate? Have they revealed themselves to expand the boundaries of human potential?

    WAKEUP CALL

Captain Sterling T. Crane, fresh from sleep, splashed cold water on his face, poured himself a cup of java, and planted himself before his vr-console. After donning the holoviewer and receiving a retinal scan, he gained access into the net.

Dang blang it, I forgot, he murmured under his breath, then rapidly pecked several buttons on the vr-keyboard.

"… it is our destiny to venture into the unknown, to gain a new vantage point in order to find another springboard into the heavens…"

Late for the opening ceremonies of the ninth ExoSentient Exploration Society's TeleConvention, Captain Crane's holoform shuffled to his virtual Cyberholographic Authorized Interactive Reservation (ChAIR) while listening to the
