About this ebook
The Dutiful Daughter ...
Young and lovely Tracy Bodmin was as spirited and independent as the America she came from – but love for her father made her yield to his heart’s desire. Though William Bodmin had made his fortune in the New World, he dreamed of a title for his daughter in his native England – and his wealth won a marriage proposal to Tracy from the proud Duke of Hastings.
This it was that Tracy voyaged full-sail into the world of the aristocracy as wife to one of its most splendid lords. Behind she left Adam Lancaster, the handsome, rugged New Englander who adored her. Ahead lay fear and danger in the arms of a powerful, magnetic man whose mode of life and love she did not know ...

Reviews for The American Duchess

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The story is about an English aristocrat who decide to marry a rich the story is about an English who marries an American heiress to save his lands from bakruptcy. The author’s approach is positive, the hero is intelligent, politically involved and with high morals. She is at first ambivalent, willing to satisfy her father’s obsession with English titled gentilmen, but not happy to be chosen for her money, she is afraid to be socially inept. The story was short, scarce in description of the society of that time. It’s a nice book for young adults.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The American Duchess is quite simply, a love story. American Tracy Bodmin and her father William visit London. William Bodwin born in England to an impoverished family is now one of the richest men in the world. Unknown to Tracy, her father is dying and his dream is for her to make a good English Marriage. William solicits the help of Lady Georgiana Bridgewater in his efforts to secure what he considers “the best” husband for his daughter. Since money is no object, Lady Bridgewater is happy to introduce the Bodmins to her nephew, Adrian Deincourt, the nearly bankrupt, Duke of Hastings.Joan Wolf presents two young people, each marrying for reasons other than love, who come to deeply love each other. In the process neither can believe in the possibility that love is returned. The characters of Tracy and Adrian are portrayed as completely different people from different backgrounds attempting to accept the possibility that love can survive despite these differences.Romance readers who enjoy a love story will find The American Duchess a true delight!
