Foreword

The idea for Mama Knows took shape after I visited Omaha Beach during the seventieth anniversary commemoration of D-Day. Too many lives were lost for the sake of freedom. Seeing masses of graves reminded me how precious life is and how important it is to give back whenever possible, so I was happy to have Mama Knows included in Ylva Publishing’s charity anthology Unwrap These Presents, where all proceeds are donated to the Albert Kennedy Trust in the UK and the Ali Forney Center in New York City, two organizations that provide housing for homeless LGBT youth.

As Christmas approached, we also wanted to release Mama Knows as a single story in which two women share the gift of intimate pleasures and feelings that go beyond sex during the holiday season.

First and foremost, I have my publisher, Astrid Ohletz, to thank for giving my stories a new home. I’m humbled to be included in such an impressive pack and very excited for the release of my first novella, Across the Pond, which will be published by Ylva in May 2015. Thank you, Astrid, for believing in me and for all your encouragement, expertise, and hard work. To our senior editor, Sandra Gerth, I cannot use enough superlatives for how grateful I am to have access to a great mind (even if I can’t have a brain chip) when it comes to writing, editing, and, mostly, trimming words almost painlessly when I get too carried away.
