    Chapter 1

    Dayna Stone, tall, statuesque burlesque entertainer, known as ‘Cherry Pie’, put on the finishing touches to her makeup as she readied herself for her time in the limelight. She loved performing in her various dazzling dresses she had acquired over the years and even though she was getting a little long in the tooth, 28 years old, she could put the younger performers to shame when it came putting on a show. Her dark brown, long curly hair was pinned back from her face with red and black ribbons tied into bows with large glittery silver barrettes holding them in place. She stroked on the dark eyeliner that highlighted her sparkling green eyes along with the lighter pastel eye shadow she loved. Her BB cream tonight was a darker tone and she had combined it with a darker blush that made her cheekbones pop. She critically examined herself further using her 3-way mirror and decided on the dark red lip liner and cherry red lipstick. She then dabbed on some Chance Perfume in each of her ‘hot’ zones just because she loved the smell and it made her feel better about herself.

    Gorgeous honey, she complemented herself as she dabbed her lips with a Kleenex.

    Her clothing was custom made by one of the most well-known and oldest seamstresses in Las Vegas who provided glamorous dresses for the transgender community as well as the straight performers. She loved to shop for vintage clothing with all the sequins, beads and ruffles, and then she’d take them to Rosie for custom fitting with new material and add the adorable touches back to the look such as her lingerie, it had to match the style she’d picked and since she loved the older styles she used garter belts exclusively in her dance routines. She was tall enough to wear an antique whalebone corset that really pulled her waist into a wasp-like shape. As she danced around the stage she’d purposely kick her legs up to reveal her hidden treasure zone, smiling as her fishnet stockings and high heels captured their attention, noticing they were usually too late to fully examine the dark ‘V’ between her legs. Not that she exposed anything; she always wore dark colored thongs that excited her clientele since they just weren’t positive what they were seeing, but she was strictly above board regarding nudity. She depended on her abilities, looks and dancing, and it had served her well while making her the most renowned Las Vegas burlesque dancer in the country with no nudity necessary. Her legs and ass were extremely well-toned from years of dancing and she was exceedingly confident in herself and abilities.

    Her one problem she suffered from was extreme jealousy. She had seen too many men over the years two-time their wives and girlfriends while lusting after her and her co-workers, trying to set up one on one dates with them. She would disgustingly remind them this wasn’t a massage parlor or strip show and remind them she was a professional performer, not a slut for hire. After observing them and watching endless hours of the TV show Snapped on Sunday afternoons she didn’t have much use for men since it seemed they were always betraying the ones they allegedly loved. She was lonely at times, keeping people at a safe distance from her heart, but she had her cat, owned her own place and made a decent living so she really didn’t have a lot to complain about, but still, it would be nice to have a fellow that loved her exclusively.

    Her parents were disappointed in her since she had blown off a Vanderbilt education to pursue burlesque dancing after catching the bug from her roommate on a dare. They’d gone to a bar on open burlesque night and wearing what was then their cutest dresses had drunkenly danced to some pop tunes to the applause of the equally inebriated audience. But, she had caught the performing bug and it became an all-encompassing quest for advice, make-up and outfits to match her view of who she was. After several confrontations with her parents regarding her failing grades they had an all-out argument during Thanksgiving when her father had slapped her across her face and ordered her out of the house. She was told not to return until she came to her senses and she had kept her side of the bargain, but in the meantime she’d risen to the top of the burlesque world.

    The last guy she had agreed to date, Frank Strickland had seemed so promising at first. He hadn’t known she was a dancer when he met her and so their relationship had developed slowly, with dates to some of the more famous Las Vegas shows whenever she had the evening off. She had finally revealed she was a burlesque dancer and suddenly his attitude towards her had changed. She hadn’t even had sex with him until the 10th date and they had seemed to have so much in common. They both loved eating out at the fancy restaurants, going to new release movies together and at times just staying at home with each other and cooking delicious meals together trying out recipes they learned about on the Cooking channel. Then she revealed what she did for a living and she couldn’t forget the shocked and hurt look in his eyes. The very next night he had shown up with a woman on his arm to watch her perform and she felt her jealousy and anger rising up to an explosive level. How dare he show up with another woman? Had he been dating her while dating her also? God, that made her furious to even consider the thought of him seeing another woman while he had appeared faithful and committed to her.

    Men! She fumed to herself.

    That had occurred almost seven months ago and she was extremely lonely and feeling sorry for herself at this point in her life. She couldn’t stand the thought of a man that would look or talk with other women and thus, she felt doomed to spend her life talking to her cat, eating and sleeping alone. How depressing. Why does every man she become interested in always end up looking at other women and/or dating (fucking) them? It was just like that show she enjoyed that revealed men to be the scumbags they truly were and she put more emphasis on these shows as being close to reality. Her coworker, Letti Osborne, age 22 was still naïve enough to believe these deceptive stories at face value or she just didn’t care. Letti constantly bugged her to spread her wings and fly, fly away into another man’s arms. Letti hated to see her friend unhappy and believed there were a lot of fish in the sea, so why should she tie herself down with one loser when the whole world was her oyster. Letti thought that Dayna needed to forget about long term relationships and just enjoy all the different selections that were available. A hopeless romantic is what Dayna was and Letti didn’t
