About this ebook
The aim of this book is to provide a basic and unbiased overview for anyone who is thinking about starting to invest in property in Australia. Most of the information on property investing out there is put out by developers and other businesses want to sell their product, I want to give individuals and families the basic guidelines when starting out. Many people like the idea of owning a property portfolio, but don't know how to start or what it actually involves, as a result they either make some basic mistakes or they simply never start simply from the fear of not wanting to make those mistakes. I want to show you the middle road here, starting with what to consider before you start, how to start and then what to do next.

Introduction
Over the years, so many people have asked me where they can read up on everyday financial topics, in order to obtain a deeper understanding of their own situation and make more informed decisions.
Unfortunately, up until now, I have only ever found highly technical reading matter suitable for tax accountants or lawyers. This book aims to provide the reader with a broad overview. The aim of this series of mini-books is to give those everyday users seeking more practical information, the necessary knowledge to understand the basics and understand how this applies to their own situation.
So in summary, the aim of this book is to assist the everyday user to understand the property investment concept and to decide whether or not it is suitable for them.
When I started penning my book on negative gearing, An Everyday Aussie’s Guide to Negative Gearing, it rapidly became apparent to me that some of the information I was writing, was more suitable for a separate, more detailed book on property investment. My aim was to keep each topic clear and concise. Rather than create a large book covering numerous aspects, the aim of these mini e-books is to present information in a concise way. There are a few concepts that I have included in both books to ensure continuity and completeness; this has made both these books a little longer than intended, but I felt it was important to cover each topic as much as possible in their entirety.
Property investment, like any other investment portfolio, must be planned and managed properly
