KuroKoneko Kamen

Author KuroKoneko Kamen (Black Kitten Mask) has always had an interest in Japanese culture from folktales about yokai (ancient demons) to anime and manga. As a result of being an otaku a lot of her stories are set in Japan or have a Japanese theme. Even when in the midst of a pirate novel expect a samurai warrior to be thrown into the mix. Her latest passion is paranormal romance and she’s written stories where ghosts, demons, and angels find love. Keeping her company as she writes are her several dogs and cats, some of which are rescues (now including a pet turtle someone wanted to make a soup out of). Druid Vampire - KuroKoneko Kamen

    Chapter 1: Wedding Night

Cyber socialite, Rebecca ‘Becca’ Thorn had just married the love of her life - Druid Vampire Hunter, Derek Dearg.

Getting to know Derek had completely changed her humdrum life to one that was now filled with adventure and love, but also danger.

Becca had always considered herself ‘normal’. She’d grown up on a farm in Iowa with her stay-at-home mom, farmer father, and nerdy brother Eli.

Becca had wanted nothing to do with her unglamorous and old-fashioned family. She thought they were embarrassing. So as soon as she’d graduated from college she’d gone to New York City to ‘make it big’, and make a name for herself as a dessert blogger.

Becca had always had a love and passion for writing, and so wanted to try and make a career out of it somehow. She’d gotten a huge following, and became a cyber socialite and power blogger with thousands of followers.

Fame was a fickle friend, however, and when out of spite for being rejected she’d written a flaming blog post about a popular chocolate shop in New York City called Dark Heaven and later admitted that she’d lied about the chocolatier’s chocolates being unhygienic - her followers had swiftly turned against her.

It had taken a long time for her to win them back, and she’d started other blogs using different pennames. But her blog Gourmet Dessert Trends still remained her most popular. After that she’d managed to land herself a job as a writer for Epic Taste Magazine.

For work at the magazine, she’d ended up traveling to San Francisco, California, to write an article about a friend’s bakery called Dolly’s Tea Party Bakery. She’d also been asked to write an article about a popular seafood restaurant called Poseidon’s Trident.

Poseidon’s Trident was where she’d seen her husband-to-be for the very first time cooking in the open kitchen there. He’d been the grill chef at the time, and the way he’d handled that giant, gleaming cleaver had been quite impressive.

Derek had had a very bohemian look about him with his shoulder-length chocolate brown hair with scattered braids, goatee, and tanned skin.

Becca had instantly been attracted to him. The black leather pants he’d been wearing had drawn her attention to his firm ass, and he wore some badass biker boots to complete his look. Becca had always had a weak spot for ‘bad boys’, so this had sealed the deal.

His eyes were so blue they’d immediately reminded Becca of the sky. But there had been something else about his eyes that should have alerted Becca earlier to the fact that Derek was no ordinary man.

In fact, Derek wasn’t a man at all. Derek was
