Introduction
Welcome to the Boss Body System! If you’re anything like me, the thought of adding anything else on top of your mounting to-do list can feel overwhelming and downright unrealistic at times.
Between work, family, friends, and keeping up a home, it can be easy to put ourselves last. Exercising regularly and prepping healthy meals can feel like a last priority or even a luxury of time that we can’t afford!
Or maybe, at the end of a long and exhausting day of meetings, deadlines, and chores, all we want to do is curl up on the couch with a big plate of creamy, gooey comfort food and get lost in our favorite reality tv show series.
But watching our waistlines and stress levels increase while our energy levels constantly come up short is not a fun feeling. It’s this constant tension of not having enough time or energy to make our health a priority, while feeling our bodies spin out of control, that can make us throw up our hands in frustration (or—screw it—sooth our sorrows in a pint of Chunky Monkey.)
Well, I’ve got good news for you.
First, the right fitness plan will actually make you more productive, not less. Research shows that people who exercise actually perform better at work, focus more easily on their priorities, and are more patient partners.
Second, though it may feel like you have no energy to work out, this is actually an illusory effect of not exercising. Once you get over the initial hump and build up a habit of exercising regularly (which this book will teach you how to do), you’ll find you actually have energy to spare.
Finally, it just doesn’t take as much effort as you may think to maintain a tight, lean body and feel your best. Contrary to what we once believed, we don’t need to exercise an hour a day for it to count
. Nor do we need to swear off all carbs forever.
We simply need to develop simple, incremental, consistent habits to help us look and feel our best while working full-time. Boss Body will show you exactly how to develop those habits.
