Biblical Healing Is Now - Glenn Harrison

    CHAPTER 1

THE FAITH OF A MUSTARD SEED

Faith to Receive Healing or Any of God’s Promises

Many Christians who need to receive something from the Lord including healing struggle with thoughts in their mind that maybe they do not have enough faith to receive. And many Christians struggle with the same thoughts when they are about to pray for someone who is trying to receive from God. I am going to prove to you in this chapter that you do in fact have enough faith beyond a shadow of a doubt and you need to rebuke those thoughts in your mind. You just need the faith of a mustard seed.

If you are a believer, you believe that Jesus is the Son of God that He died on the cross and rose again on the third day and now sits at the right hand of the Father, you have enough faith to receive healing or anything else from God. We should not seek healing but Jesus, the Healer. By His stripes you were healed! Jesus is the person of healing. Healing is an unchanging promise of God from the foundation of the world. The key is to be in position to receive. As believers we received the greatest miracle, Salvation, based on this simple faith: that Jesus was the Son of God that He died on the cross and He rose again on the third day, and His shed blood cleanses us from our sin. Salvation and healing are the expression of God’s grace by the Cross of Christ. But they must be appropriated through faith. You must exercise your faith to receive both. We perform Romans 10:9-10 by faith to be saved. We perform 1 Peter 2:24 by faith to be healed and in both cases we believe that Jesus is the Son of God that He died on the cross, and rose again on the third day. This is mustard seed faith.

I personally believe that after you read this chapter that you will know beyond a shadow of doubt that you have enough faith to receive from God. At the end of this chapter I will give you some examples of how to pray to receive from God. You just need mustard seed faith.

    Matthew 13:31NKJV

Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field,

    Matthew 13:36-39 NKJV

Then Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.

³⁷ He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. ³⁸ The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. ³⁹ The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.

Jesus, the Son of Man, sowed the good seed, the Kingdom of God, at the foundation of the world. Jesus, the Son of God, died on the cross and rose again on the third day and now sits at the right hand of the Father in Heaven. This is the seed. If you believe in this you have the faith of a mustard seed. Enough faith to move mountains. If I plant a watermelon seed and it grows into a mature watermelon; I will get hundreds of seeds. Jesus was the seed sown at the foundation of the world, and believers are the good seeds in the watermelon so to speak, ‘the sons of the kingdom.’ One seed planted, Jesus, many seeds obtained in the fruit that matures. That fruit is the kingdom of God itself. Believers are the good seeds of the fruit of the kingdom of God that was planted at the foundation of the world. The seed of that fruit being Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

    Mark 11:23 NKJV

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

    Matthew 17:20 NKJV

So Jesus said to them, "Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Believing that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross and rose again on the third day is all the faith you need to move mountains, to receive anything from God.

    Consider:

    Luke 17:5-6 NKJV

⁵ And the apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith.

⁶ So the Lord said, "If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

What is this mustard seed faith? Mustard seeds are the small round seeds of various mustard plants. The seeds are usually about 1 to 2 millimeters (0.039 to 0.079 in) in diameter and may be colored from yellowish white to black (from Wikipedia).

Jesus mentions the mustard seed because it is very small. He is trying to tell us that it does not take much faith to release the power of God in our lives. When He talks about the mustard seed in relationship to the kingdom of God, He is talking about Himself.

    13:18-19 NKJV

The Parable of the Mustard Seed

¹⁸ Then He said, "What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? ¹⁹ It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and put in his garden; and it grew and became a large tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches."

The Kingdom of God came to the earth at the foundation of the world when the Cross of Christ was released. Revelation 13:8 NKJV All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. When the Father said: Let there be light In the third verse of Genesis 1 He released Jesus Christ and Him Crucified at the foundation of the earth. This is when the Kingdom of God came to the earth. It has been growing ever since. Jesus came in person about 2000 years ago to bring a continued revelation of what took place at the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:18-25. The disciples preached Jesus Christ Crucified from the foundation of the world). Jesus makes this clear in Matthew 25:34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Jesus says clearly here that the kingdom of God was prepared at the foundation of the world.

So what is the faith of a mustard seed? You simply must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross and rose again on the third day and that His shed blood cleanses you from all your sin. If you believe this then you have enough faith to receive from God.

Sometimes we as believers out think ourselves. Do we, do you, believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Do you believe that he died on the Cross, even at the foundation of the world? Do you believe that He rose again on the third day? Do you believe Revelation 1:18 "I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death." If Jesus has the keys to Hades He can unlock, undo, anything that the devil has done or will do! If this is what you truly believe, then all the promises of God are yours to receive. This is all the faith that you need. But remember, faith is an action word. Faith without works is dead. If I believe this, I will be doing my best to obey and honor God.

    Consider the following verses:

Matthew 8:5 (NKJV) ⁵Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him,

Matthew 8:6 (NKJV) ⁶saying, Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.

Matthew 8:7 (NKJV) ⁷And Jesus said to him, I will come and heal him.

Matthew 8:8 (NKJV) ⁸The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.

Matthew 8:9 (NKJV) ⁹For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it."

Matthew 8:10 (NKJV) ¹⁰When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

Matthew 8:11 (NKJV) ¹¹And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 8:12 (NKJV) ¹²But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

Matthew 8:13 (NKJV) ¹³Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." And his servant was healed that same hour.

    Remember the definition of Faith

    G4102 faith

    ðßóôéò

    pistis

    pis’-tis

From G3982; persuasion, that is, credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly constancy in such profession; by extension the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself:—assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity

Faith is a persuasion, a moral conviction of the truthfulness of God’s Word especially the reliance upon Christ for salvation, having an assurance, a belief, a strong or firm belief in the truth of the Gospel.

Look at these verses in the Message Bible:

Matthew 8:5 (TMNT) As Jesus entered the village of Capernaum, a Roman captain came up in a panic and said, Master, my servant is sick. He can’t walk. He’s in terrible pain.

    G2962 Master / Lord

    êýñéïò

    kurios

    koo’-ree-os

From ê™ñïò kuros (supremacy); supreme in authority, that is, (as noun) controller; by implication Mr. (as a respectful title):—God, Lord, master, Sir.

Why did Jesus say in Matthew 8: 11 and 12: ¹¹And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven and in ¹²But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Because the many of the sons of the kingdom would not believe that Jesus was the Son of God. The Hebrews would not believe that He died on the cross and rose again on the third day, even when He did it in person. They did not have mustard seek faith! But the Centurion did believe.

The Centurion believed that Jesus was Lord, the Son of God. He believed that He had total authority over sickness and disease. He didn’t come seeking healing, he came seeking Jesus because he believed that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God, he recognized the authority that Jesus had over sickness and disease. He came seeking these things and received the desire that he had in his heart: the healing for his servant.

Matthew 8:7 (TMNT) Jesus said, I’ll come and heal him.

Matthew 8:8 (TMNT) Oh, no, said the captain. I don’t want to put you to all that trouble. Just give the order and my servant will be fine. I’m a man who takes orders and gives orders. I tell one soldier, ‘Go,’ and he goes; to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.

Matthew 8:10 (TMNT) Taken aback, Jesus said, I’ve yet to come across this kind of simple trust in Israel, the very people who are supposed to know all about God and how he works. This man is the vanguard of many outsiders who will soon be coming from all directions—streaming in from the east, pouring in from the west, sitting down at God’s kingdom banquet alongside Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Then those who grew up ‘in the faith’ but had no faith will find themselves out in the cold, outsiders to grace and wondering what happened.

Why did the Hebrews, the people of God, have no faith? They did not believe that Jesus was the Son of God.

Matthew 8:13 (TMNT) Then Jesus turned to the captain and said, Go. What you believed could happen has happened. At that moment his servant became well.

Jesus is saying here in verse 13: "Go. The fact that you believe that I am the Christ, that I have authority over sickness and disease that if I speak to the sickness using My authority that the body of your servant will be made whole. Therefore that what you have believed has happened.

Some people who want to do the works of God, want to do the things that Jesus did are looking for results. In other words they are looking for a sign. They want to pray for someone and see immediate results. They want to see a sign that something has happened.

Some of us in ministry have a tendency to do the same thing. When we go to pray for someone we are seeking a sign; instead of seeking Jesus, instead of seeking Jehovah God and the truth of His Word. Instead of having a knowing in their heart that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and that he has authority over sickness and disease and if we release the Spirit of Christ that is on the inside of us that that person will be made whole, whether or not there is an immediate sign.

We must simply believe in His authority and believe that the Spirit of Christ on the inside of us has that same authority that it did when Jesus was in the flesh.

    Look at:

Matthew 12:38 (NKJV) ³⁸Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.

Matthew 12:39 (NKJV) ³⁹But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

Matthew 12:40 (NKJV) ⁴⁰For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matthew 12:41 (NKJV) ⁴¹The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.

Jesus is saying here in verse 41 that here I am standing right here in front of you and you do not believe that I am the Christ, the Son of the Living God. You didn’t come seeking Me, you came seeking a sign. All through the Old Testament many scriptures pointed to Jesus including Jonah.

My sisters and brothers if you are praying for someone to receive from God or you are trying to receive from the Lord for yourself and you do it seeking a sign, you are in doubt and unbelief. You simply are trusting in your natural senses, your eyes instead of Trusting Jesus, instead of trusting Jehovah God! Instead
