    Chapter 1: Mary-Ann’s modern, boring life

    My name is Mary-Ann. I’ve always strived to be the best that I can be in this life. My father told me back then when I was just a little girl: Don’t ever let your lack of money turn into a lack of passion for your dream.

    I’ve always held that saying to heart and have always tried to remain true to my father’s wishes. I have to admit though, it’s been tough, but just like what my father said, I’ve never really let my lack of money turn into a lack of passion.

    It’s always been my life-long dream to become a world famous chef. I’ve always been fascinated with how the human race has evolved from merely just eating their food raw to cooking it over a fire to inventing different machines such as ovens, microwaves and grills just to cook, heat and enjoy our food differently. 

    I’ve been fascinated at how people have even went through the trouble of inventing and discovering so many different ingredients and spices just to enhance the flavor of our food. Don’t get the wrong idea though! Just because I’m fascinated with food doesn’t mean I have a big waistline. My shape is one of the few things I can say I’m proud of in this life.
