Don't Bring Ayn Rand to a Gunfight - Guns, Freedoms, Defense, and the State (A Libertarian Dream!)

About this ebook
Do you value freedom? Do you read freedom writers such as Rothbard, Bastiat, von Mises, Hayek, and of course, Ayn Rand? If so, you know the arguments for freedom, the dangers of a socialistic agenda, the evils of a closed society. Now for the $64,000 question: Do you have skills to back up your arguments?
If not, you're a philosopher without teeth. You don't know how to put into action words you spout.
• Do you know the best way to get trained?
• Are you certain why might you want to get a concealed carry permit... and why you might not!
• Want to know a far better way to celebrate Independence Day than fireworks? (This really makes the left reel with anger!)
Even among conservatives, Libertarians, and Christians so many love the 1st Amendment’s right to free speech but don’t understand that the 2nd Amendment gives the 1st Amendment its teeth! Taking this further, you had the right to defend yourself and your family long before the Constitution’s framers penned the 2nd Amendment. What rights man gives you, man can take away... What right God gives you, no man can take away! You have the inalienable right to protect yourself, your family, and those around you whom you want to protect. Can you do so? Quoting Ayn Rand when someone pulls a gun on you will not save your life!
Oh, this book is so good if you love freedom! But the focus is not the typical gun or defense book. Oh not at all!
Here you learn not only how to hone your arguments to protect your gun rights, more important you learn:
• How to get trained correctly, even if you’re a public school graduate and can’t even spell GUN! This book focuses not on the gun expert (although they will love what it says!), this book focuses on newcomers to the shooting arena who aren’t sure why they might want a weapon themselves but understand the importance of maintaining a legal right to defense as individual citizens.
• What guns you should never get for self-defense (the list probably does not contain guns you think it might!)
• How to use a rifle to celebrate every national holiday and memorial and why you should do just that! And if you don’t have a rifle, you are even better off because you’re now going to get one, only you’ll do it the right way!
• Why Americans have lost their ability to shoot which means our military and law enforcement have too! Consider the America of 75 years ago when every boy and many girls grew up hunting and shooting. Upon entering the military or law enforcement they were taught how to take their skills up a notch, giving America a major boost in enemy battles. Today, recruits enter without ever having held a gun. The time spent on training is still the same. The result is a military and law enforcement, in general, who have virtually no true firearm experience, often less than the bad guys! Gun control laws kill more people than guns do!
Now only will this book give you major advice and insight into the individual’s gun armory and defense preparation, you get a Bonus Appendix that you can use to better your own community! If you live in a state that allows concealed carry (and if you do not, why don’t you?) but you see stores with No Guns signs, you get a step-by-step blueprint on how to get that store owner to change his policy faster than Mayor Bloomberg can veto a gun right bill!

About the Author
Pistol-packing Greg Perry is known as the earth’s most prolific writer in his field about computers. He has published more than 85 computer books, all by major publishers, translated into all major languages, and sold in bookstores around the world. In this book, you get Perry’s writings in a far more accessible format (and less costly too!) than a traditionally-published volume. The advantages of the eBook format extend far beyond its low price, however. The instant access this format gives you, as well as offering live clickable links when websites are mentioned, provides a unique forum of ideas that was never dreamed possible when many of the original freedom writers such as von Mises, Rothbard, and Hayek wrote.
Although Perry’s Windows, Microsoft Office, Digital Video, OpenOffice.org, and programming books have become bestsellers in the computer book world, his current excitement revolves around his two favorite subject: guns and freedom!
Herein he awaits you with multiple essays, arranged in chronological chapters, discussing, teaching, explaining, and analyzing today’s current environment of freedom and how that freedom applies to the everyday citizen who wants to own a firearm. You will not get fluff here! This material is written to the average Joe and average Jane who have decided to back up their freedom arguments by owning firearms. If you fall into that category you’ve come to the right place. If you know firearms are vital so a free nation stays free but you know little about guns or how they fit into your own life, you’ve truly arrived at a place that will lead you out of the wilderness!
Perry’s well-rounded writing career (having written not only computer books but also countless computer-based articles as well as a bestselling book about managing rental properties and even a book about evil government intrusion called Disabling America) takes a major right-turn with this eBook, another in his line of non-traditional publications.
Introduction
"You don’t have to be a gun expert, or even know how to shoot one, to benefit from this book... As a matter of fact, for you this book is more valuable than anyone else!"
If you decided to acquire this publication then you probably know who Ayn Rand is, you are perhaps a classic liberal (the opposite of a modern liberal), perhaps you label yourself a Libertarian, perhaps you label yourself a Conservative, perhaps you label yourself a Christian, and most likely you are a combination of more than one of those.
(Isn’t it interesting that those who lean to the right of the social and political spectrums never mind labels while those on the left deny and shun labels applied to them? What, are they against adjectives now?)
This book would not be needed 75 or more years ago. Fathers taught their young boys and typically their young girls too (the smart fathers did) about weapons, how to respect them, how to use them accurately and appropriately.
Sadly those skills are not passed down too frequently anymore. Those skills are rarely respected in today’s gun-phobic society. (The more accurate term is hoplophobic.)
I want to thank Lew Rockwell who offered his website as a forum for testing many of the ideas (and ideals) taught herein. This series of somewhat-linked essays, broken down in a chapter format, is a celebration of freedom and the gun. Plus, we celebrate you having the freedom to own and carry and fire your weapons in a responsible manner. If you don’t consider yourself much of a gun person,
if you’ve put off getting one even though you know you should, this is especially for you!
You’re going to learn a lot. Before you finish the first 3 chapters you will probably be looking for legal ways to acquire a gun and probably more than one. (Believe it or not, you can still easily and legally buy guns, knives, and ammunition in eBay-like online auctions! This is probably the best way to acquire them for most people.)
Too often, people who love freedom love to talk about freedom… but they’re not willing to learn how to defend their freedoms! This book will change all that if you have the same affliction!
Chapter 1
This Advice Might Save Your Life: Don’t Bring Ayn Rand to a Gun Fight
Robert Heinlein first said, An armed society is a polite society.
He meant armed as in packing heat. As in loaded and well-trained. As in cocked and locked.
Heinlein did not mean, A society armed with great arguments about freedom and well-read in Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard, and other historical free market writers.
There’s a point where you must stop honing your argument about your rights and learn how to defend your rights. And that point is always far sooner than most Libertarians and conservatives and classic liberals think it is.
It’s Time for Gunpowder Residue
Until you can defend your own self, your rights mean nothing. Sure, I wish our government was a good one. I wish the liberals would stop lying and I wish the conservatives would be conservative and not liberal. But they don’t and they aren’t.
You should not take up arms against the government. That would be the stupidest thing you could do – and it would be the last thing you would do.
I am recommending that you learn to defend yourself and your family. That means defend them from whatever threat is active. By this I mean a physical threat. You will always lose the fight if somebody attacks you physically and you respond by quoting Ayn Rand.
The first rule of a gunfight is: Always bring a gun. (That happens to be a good rule to use in a knife fight too.)
The last line of defense you have is a gun. (In some cases, the last line of defense is a back-up gun worn perhaps on the ankle.) Your wit is your first line of defense. Don’t depend on your wits to save your life because in a real bodily threat it will not.
Concealed Carry
Readers will write me and (properly) disagree with what I’m about to suggest. I understand their logic; I used to argue their side. I’ve changed my mind but if you choose to ignore the following advice I completely trust your judgment as long as you do everything else.
If you live in a concealed-carry state (and if you don’t, why not?) I recommend you get a concealed carry license. Here is my reasoning: I love my family more than I fear the government so I’d carry even if not allowed. If I’m not allowed to have a concealed weapon I’ll still arm myself. But as long as I can carry legally I will do that.
Sure my name’s then on their rolls. But I write books such as this one! I write for WorldNetDaily.com and LewRockwell.com. I speak my mind so my name’s already on their rolls.
The concealed carry license is nothing but a bribe. 60 years ago, when you wanted the Mafia to leave you alone, you’d pay them off with hush money.
The word license
is code for hush money
to the United States Government. Pay them their hush money license fee and they’ll leave you alone. For now at least. Right now, they care more about the vigorish than anything
