Something that was considered myth and legend is very real and if falls into the wrong hands can be devastating to the world. This book is dedicated to all the dreamers, to all those that believe in magic big or small.  It’s dedicated to those who live in a fantasy world.  It’s dedicated to those who dare to live and think outside the box.  It’s dedicated to those who are bold enough to swim against the current instead of going with the flow.  This book is dedicated to those who reach for the stars.  This book is dedicated to each and every one of you who have taken a chance and followed your dreams, no matter what the road before you looked like.  You took the road less traveled and came out still alive or even better on the other side.  Without any of you people this world would be a pretty boring place.  Without the thinkers, the dreamers, the doers and the risk takers we would never achieve greatness.  I dedicate this book to all of you, without my fans, my followers, my family and friends I would have never been able to get to where I am.

First off I want to thank my mom Debbie Nelson, she has always supported me in all my creative journeys.  She has always pushed me to be better and to never let me anyone bring me down, even my haters.  They can keep on hating because this shining star isn’t fading anytime soon.

Second I want to thank my dear friend Jessie Ward for being the creative talent behind my book cover, this girl has more talent in her pinky than most people do in their big toe.  She is one fantastic artist and friend.  Look this girl up, sit back and prepare yourself to be amazed with her talent.

Third I want to thank all of my friends who have pushed me to be greater than I think I am.  I want them to know that I hold a special place in my heart for each and every one of them who genuinely supported me and still treated me like one of the little people, because that is exactly who I am.  One of the little people who is trying to follow her dream.

Lastly I want to thank my hubby for picking up the slack when I had my nose buried in my laptop, whether it was writing, researching, editing, ect.  For making the kids lunches, for cleaning the house, for making dinners, for putting off date nights so I could get this book done.  And for putting up with my attitude when I was stressed.

But most of all I want to thank all my readers, my fans, and my followers.  I can’t be a writer without my readers.  I enjoy creating worlds for you escape to, I enjoy creating characters that you envy, love and even love to hate.  I want you to be a part of my stories.  I want you to think about my stories when you aren’t reading them.  I want you wonder how one of my characters would handle one of your everyday situations.  If I can create a world for you to dream about, think about and want to be a part of, then I feel accomplished.  I hope you all enjoy the sequel to Diamonds in the Sea.  Amelia and Max have quite the adventure keep following them for a third installment to this story.  I am truly blessed to have an opportunity to follow my dreams and I hope all of you come along for the ride.  I think it will be filled with twist, turns, dips and the unexpected.  And that’s just the way I like it. 

    CHAPTER ONE

I never want to leave.  Amelia sighed.  She took a sip of her fresh, hot latte.  She tilted her head back basking in the glory of the sun that shined down on her face.  She allowed the sun to warm her face and neck, while the latte warmed her insides.  She took a deep, slow breath letting the fresh air revive her senses.  She was in a blissful moment of peace, when her moment was broken by the sound of Max chuckling.  She cracked her eyes, to glare at him for disturbing her moment.

What?  Got something you’d like to share Max?  She asked arching an eyebrow at him.

It’s funny, but I do believe you said the same thing this morning...lying in my bed.  He said as his mind wondered back to their morning activities.  He watched her face turn a slight shade of pink, he could see she was also remembering their morning activities.  She tucked a stray blonde hair behind her ear and cleared her throat nervously.

Yeah well, at that moment I didn’t think there was anything that could compare.  That was until I tasted this latte and man it is giving you a run for your money.  She mocked.

Oh really?  He said as he leaned across the table invading her space.  He was inches from her face when he reached up and swiped the frothy foam from the corner of her lip, with the pad of his thumb and growled.

I guess I am going to have to do something to change that, now aren’t I?  He licked the foam from the pad of his thumb and took his place back in his seat.  Amelia sucked in her breath at the suggestion that was oozing off of Max.  Her heartbeat broke into a bit of a sprint as images of tangled bed sheets and limbs tumbled through her mind.  She could feel her core start to simmer.  She rose to Max’s challenge, she straightened her back, squared her shoulders and in a very sultry voice said.

Yes, I suppose you WILL have to do something about that.  She licked her lips to add just a little extra sexiness to the pot that Max was stirring.  She watched as he reached down and adjusted himself, her eyes traveling down to his crotch and then back to his eyes.  Damn you, women.  If we weren’t here celebrating Basel’s birthday, I would dragged you back to our room and show you just how much I plan on changing that.  Amelia threw her head back and fully laughed at Max, she had achieved the desired effect on him.  ‘Two can play that game Max.’  She thought to herself.

Well too bad Max, today is about Basel and you’re just going to have to deal with it.  She said as she looked across the café spotting Basel making his way back to their table.  He joined the two of them at the table and Amelia noticed Basel had the biggest grin on his face.  She smiled widely back at him and asked.

What’s up Basel?  You’re all smiles this morning.  He shrugged his shoulders and replied.  Well you only get to turn sixteen once and since we are in Athens, I figured what better way to celebrate my birthday than with a guided tour of the city on mopeds.  I just booked us a tour that will start in about an hour.  His smile growing wider as he relayed his plans for that morning.  Max leaned forward stealing a croissant from the basket that occupied the center of their table.

Are you serious?  Max asked with a smile.  Basel nodded his head happily, he slid a sideways glance at Amelia to see if she was as equally as excited as he and Max were.  She had her hands clasped around her mug, lifted half way to her mouth.  Her pearly whites shining against her pink lip gloss stained lips.  If that’s what you want to do.  It’s your birthday Basel, but I do have one question?  How did you pay for it?  She asked as she took another sip of her latte, arching her eyebrow at Basel.  He smirked at Amelia, every time she arched an eyebrow at him, he could see Piper’s face behind it.  The Lockheart ladies could speak volumes with their eyebrows.  Basel reach forward grabbing his orange juice taking a sip he explaining it was a gift from Uncle Tony.

Oh really?  That was awfully nice of him.  But Basel you didn’t have to use your money to do that, we could have done that for you, it is your birthday after all.

But I didn’t, we used Tony’s.  Basel said with a sly grin.  Max laughed at Basel’s complete honesty, he reached over and slapped Basel on the back.  Good point Basel, very good point.  I think the tour is a great idea and if it’s okay with the both of you I have a surprise in store for us later.  You two game?  Max asked as he leaned back crossing his legs at the ankles sliding his hands behind his head to stretch.  Both Amelia and Basel’s eyes light up and before either could answer, their breakfast was delivered to the table by a young girl, who seemed to be in her mid to late teen years.

"Buongiorno!"  She said as she set the massive platter of fruit, cheese, bread, jam, and assorted cold cuts, down before them.  Amelia and Max both replied back with their own Buongiorno’s.  It was Max who realized that Basel hadn’t said a thing.  When he looked to Basel expecting him to rely to the waitress, he saw that Basel was staring at the young girl. Max smirked at the star crossed lover and gave Basel a small kick under the table.  Basel jumped out of his hormone induced coma and stuttered to the young girl.

"B..Buongiorno!"  He said quickly, as he swallowed the words that had been stuck in his throat.  Amelia practically spewed her latte all over the table, as Basel struggled to get a coherent word out of his mouth.  She quickly mopped up her latte, as she stole a glanced at the love struck teen.

"Grazie, che saranno tutti.  Thank You that will be all.  Amelia thanked their waitress she watched as the waitress keep her silent giggles to herself.  The girl nodded and before leaving, gave Basel a sweet smile.  Amelia and Max watched in amusement as Basel followed the waitress journey across the café with his eyes.  Amelia quickly realized Basel had every right to be love struck, the girl was stunning in a natural sort of way.  Her olive sun kissed skin was a perfect blend to her espresso brown hair, her lips were full and plump but not Botox plump.  Her lips were slightly stained the color of strawberries, but her eyes were that of sea foam.  Beautiful green, wide eyes which she noticed as well as Basel.  The girl was a stunner in her own right.  She had curves in all the right places, enough to be noticed but not overly sexy.  She didn’t flaunt it, she didn’t advertise it, she was just a natural beauty and Basel seemed to be captivated by it.  Once she was out of sight Basel returned his gaze back to the table, he was smiling and blushing.  Max cleared his throat and asked Basel if everything was okay.  Amelia kicked him under the table she reached for Basel’s hand.  She’s a pretty girl huh?"  She knew it was an understatement but purposely did so, so she could get Basel’s true feelings on the girl.  Basel’s eyes snapped up to Amelia’s smiling face, his words spilled out of his mouth before he could stop them.

She’s not pretty.  She is flawless.  His face blushed an even deeper shade of red, he reached out and grabbed several grapes and shoved them into his mouth before he had any more word vomiting spells.  Amelia reached across the table, she gently pated his hand and grabbed a few pieces of cheese and tore a piece of bread from the loaf.

Max watched in amusement as he also grabbed various items from their breakfast platter and added them to his own plate.  He thought about the life that Basel had before.  Piper had filled him and Amelia in on the life that Basel had before he became a part of this family.  Basel had to grow up so quickly, living on the streets in Iraq.  Never having a real home, never knowing when his next meal was going to be and then on top of all that, getting mixed up with the mermaid mess that Piper had also been drug into.  His life was by no means easy and it was a miracle that he had lasted this long, but now that he was here and apart of the family, Max couldn’t see it any other way.  Basel was like a second son to him and a great big brother to Jake.  Granted, he was technically Pipers adopted son and he was no longer married to Piper.  But they were all tied together in one way or another.  A band of misfits, as Piper had so delicately put it, and she was right.  They were one of the most miss-matched, dysfunctional, loyal family he had ever know.  He was waiting for Jerry Springer to call him any day now, but he loved every one of the misfits that belonged to this family.  Between his failed marriage with Piper and his new romance with her sister Amelia and his brother Chase’s new romance with his ex-wife, and add Uncle Tony’s Mafia connections to the mix and Jake his precious son, plus Basel being newly adopted.  Yeah they were almost worse than the Gallagher’s from Shameless, almost.  Max was so wrapped up on the twisted antics of his family he completely missed the conversation that was taking place between Amelia and Basel.

So what do you think Max?  He should do it right?  Amelia asked as she tucked a bouncy, blonde cur behind her ear.  Max gave her a crooked smile, he was so glad to see that awful red dye job she had done to her hair gone and replaced with her natural blonde hair.  The red was hideous, but necessary at the time and as much as he loved her long blonde locks he was digging her new bouncy curls even more.  He started to dive into the memories of those curls bouncing along with her breast, from this morning’s activities, but Amelia quickly pulled him back to reality.

    Max?  What do you think?

I’m sorry, I totally missed it.  What do I think about what?  He watched Amelia roll her eyes at him, and repeat the conversation she and Basel had while he was spaced out.  Basel, he should ask the waitress to come with us?  Max looked at Basel who appeared to be nervous and fidgety.  He glanced at Max through his chocolate lashes, seeking some sort of guidance or approval.

Sure why not, she is a looker and it IS your birthday, I say go for it Basel.  He watched as Basel’s eyes lit up, he stopped fidgeting he straightened his back, his confidence had been boosted.  He popped a few more grapes into his mouth, took a quick swig of his O.J. and left his chair making his way across the café, as quickly as he could without looking like a sprinter.  Both Amelia and Max watched as Basel went in search of his crush, both rooting him on in silence.

Amelia and Max nibbled from various pieces of the platter, feeding each other grapes and cheese and small pieces of bread when Basel came back to the table looking a little disappointed.  What’s the matter Basel?  Amelia asked concerned that Basel might have gotten his heart broken, even at sixteen and seeing the girl for just a few short moments.  Max was grimacing on the inside, scolding himself for pushing Basel to pursue the girl, he never thought he would get turned down. Basel was a great kid.

She wasn’t there.  She went on break, and they wouldn’t tell me when she would be back.  He said as he run a frustrated hand through his chocolate hair.  Both Amelia and Max let out a relieved sigh, he hadn’t been turned down just bad timing.  Max reached over and slapped Basel on the back.  That’s okay Basel, at least you know where she works, so you can come back later or another day and try again.  Max gave Basel a reassuring smile.  The corners of Basel’s mouth turned up slightly, he nodded his head in agreement.  Basel decided he was done talking about his love life or lack thereof and decided to change the subject.  He rubbed his hands together with glee.  Ready for that tour?  He asked his chaperones.  Both Amelia and Max finished their drinks quickly following Basel out of the café after paying for their breakfast.  Basel looked back at the two of them and announced.  This is going to be a great day, I can feel it.

    ––––––––

After going through the tutorial about the mopeds and doing some test runs they were ready to take their tour.  Amelia was seated on the back of Max’s moped with her hands wrapped around his hard, muscled torso, she took the same tutorial but she was content to let Max drive, just so she could brush his hard core abs with her fingertips.  Basel being sixteen meant he could drive his own moped, the smile that tore across his face when he realized he would have his own was priceless.  You be careful, but not too fast, okay Basel?  I want you to have fun and enjoy yourself, but I don’t want to make any unnecessary trips to the ER, got?  Amelia said to Basel with a wide smile and concern in her eyes.  Basel almost had the over whelming urge to roll his eyes at her but these people were family and they cared about him, it had been a long time since anyone other than Piper had worried about him or even cared about him.  His memories of his father and his death quickly rose to the fore front of his mind, his eyes became sad his heart becoming heavy.  He missed his father so much and had wished to be spending his birthday with him, but after witnessing his death and watching his body fall to the sea, he knew he was never coming back.  Amelia removed herself from Max’s moped, she walked quickly to Basel, and she wrapped her arms around him, whispering to him.  I know Basel, you don’t have to say a thing.  I know.  And believe me he is so proud of the young man you have turned out to be, we all are.  She pulled back searching his beautiful dark brown eyes, eyes that seem to glitter with unshed tears.  He swallowed and nodded, he couldn’t speak, his throat constricted on the words he wanted to say.  Amelia gave him a soft nudge with her shoulder and told him.  Now buck up!  We got an adventure to start.    Basel opened his mouth to respond when he heard shouting, both he and Amelia turned to see their waitress shouting and pointing at a man that was running in their direction.

HE HAS MY PURSE!  HE STOLE MY PURSE!  SOMEONE STOP HIM!  She screamed taking chase after him.  Amelia back up towards Max looking for assistance, the man with their waitress’s purse barreling towards them.  The waitress was no match for this mans speed, but the man wasn’t expecting anyone to react to him or to come to her rescue.  Max jumped off his moped, trying to intercept the man, but he wasn’t going to make around the moped in time, just as the man dashed between their mopeds, Basel thrust his arm out efficiently close lining the man.  The man hit with such force he actually did a flip landing on his stomach, the air in his lungs coming out with a loud swoosh.  The man made to get up but Max prevented that by pushing his foot down on the man’s back, pushing him back to the ground.   I don’t think so.  He said as he looked back to Amelia asking her to notify the authorities, she quickly fetched her cell phone from her purse, doing as Max had asked.  Basel removed himself from his moped and retrieved their waitress purse just as she reached their mopeds.  She walked right up to the man on the ground and kicked him forcefully in the stomach.  "Stronzo!  Asshole!  Max put a gentle hand on her shoulder to refrain her from doing any more damage, while smiling down at her antics.  The man on the ground yelled obscenities at her, she reared back to kick him again.  Basel quickly rushed in taking her by the shoulders leading her away from the thief.  The authorities are on their way.  I found your purse, you might want to make sure everything is still in there."  He said smiling at the beauty in front of him.  She was still staring daggers at the man on the ground when Basel thrust her purse into her hands.  Her deep sea green eyes came back to Basel’s chocolate eyes.  They stared for a long moment before she smiled sincerely at him.

"Grazie.  Thank You, that was very brave of you to stop that man the way you did.  She said in a soft voice that sounded like music to Basel’s ears.  She pushed her hair back from her face and made sure everything was still in her purse.  She smiled up as Basel.  I don’t think he had a chance to take anything, but thank you again for stopping him."  Basel looked back at the man and then back to his beauty.  He was stunned that he reacted the way he did, he didn’t think, he just acted.  He seemed to be her knight in shining armor and he was content to do it all day long, just as long as she kept looking at him like that.

My name is Basel by the way.  He said sticking his hand out.  She smiled again at him, her face lighting up every time.

Isabella, but my friends call me Bella or B.  You can call me Bella.  After all considering you just stopped that thief and retrieved my purse, I think it safe to say we could be friends.  She licked her lips nervously, glancing at the crowd that was growing around them.

Basel could have died and went to heaven when he saw her tongue slip between her delicate lips, in a nervous gesture.  Oh, how he wished he could have been those lips in that one sweet swipe of her tongue.  Basel could feel heat start to pool low in his belly, he needed to reign in his hormones before other things below the belt started to react.  Max and Amelia joined Basel and Bella engaging in chit chat while the authorities toted the criminal off to jail and took Bella’s statement.  Bella’s boss from the restaurant had made his way out side during this process to check on her and make sure she was okay.  She insisted she was fine and able to get back to work.  However, her boss thought it was a bit too much excitement for one day and gave her the rest of the day off.  She turned around beaming at Basel.

Who knew getting your purse snatched would get you out work?  She said to the trio.  Maybe I should just hire someone to snatch my purse regularly.  She giggled, running a hand through her dark hair, looking at the crowd that was now dispersing away from them.  Well thanks again guys I appreciate everything you did.  She turned to leave, when Basel called for her.

Bella if you don’t have any plans for the day, maybe.....maybe you’d like to join us?  He said with a hopeful smile.  She turned back to them, light gleaming in her eyes.  What have you got planned?  Basel’s smile grew bigger, he hitched a thumb over his shoulder to the mopeds.  It’s my birthday and we are going on a tour of the city and Max has some sort of a surprise in store for later.  I would love it if you joined us.  Basel was a tangled ball of nerves as he waited for Bella’s response.  Bella looked around Basel at Amelia and Max.  Max nodded his approval and Amelia waved her on.  She peered back at Basel.  Okay I will go, but only on one condition.  She said with a mischievous smile.  Basel raised an eye brow at her.  Oh yeah what’s that?  Curiosity blooming with in him.

After your tour, I will take you on a REAL tour.  Show you the amazing things they don’t show you on the tour.  The things only locals know about.  It can be my gift to you, birthday boy.  She said with a playful wink.  Inside Basel was jumping up and down with joy, outside he had to play it cool.  That sounds awesome Bella, Thank You!  He beamed at her.  She quickly followed Basel to his moped, as Amelia settled herself behind Max once again.

Give me just a sec Basel.  She said fetching her phone from her purse, effectively calling her mother to let her know what had happened and where she would be throughout the day.  She promised to check in, ending the call with and an, I love you too.  She tucked her phone away and slipped her purse over her head letting it rest against her side before taking her place behind Basel on his moped.  She wrapped her arms around his torso.  Basel could feel the heat rise to his face.  He swallowed his nervousness, as he leaned back to speak with her.

    ––––––––

Ready?   He asked as he revved the moped engine.  Her smile was infectious, it ran across her face.  She nodded with enthusiasm, giving his torso a slight squeeze.  Basel looked over to see Amelia and Max watching his exchange with Bella.  They smiled knowingly.  The guide pulled their attention to him, he gave a few instructions and then they were off to tour one the most beautiful places on earth.

Amelia was in completely shock and awe as she stared up at the Parthenon.  It was stunningly beautiful and timeless.  She felt like time had stood still as she slowly looked over every detail she could, committing it to memory.  She tried to speak, but words just couldn’t describe the beauty of the place.  The lines, the columns, she could only imagine what it looked like in its hay day.  She imagine the great Goddess Athena sitting atop her massive throne, looking down at her loyal subjects with such joy and the smile of a proud mother.  The amount of work, time, and effort that went in building this colossus monument.  Amelia was happy to just stand there all day taking in this timeless piece of history but she knew that there was so much more to see and explore. She was caught up in her imagination of what it would have been like back in ancient times, when Max came up behind her, sliding his hands around her waist, pulling her close.  He rested his head on the crook of her shoulder, whispering into her ear.

Amazing isn’t it?  Max could see the goose bumps race up her neck as his warm breath caressed her neck.  He smiled to himself, it gave him satisfaction just to see the effect that he had on Amelia.  She sighed, leaning against his body.  It’s one of the most....most.  I can’t even describe it, Max.  She said gazing at the ruins before her.  You know what is more amazing?  He said, watching the goose bumps race back up her neck.  She shivered slightly in his arms.  He turned her with his arms, so she could look up at him.  What’s that?  She asked curiously.  You.  You are one of the most amazing women I have ever met, and I don’t care what the circumstances are as to how we got here.  I am just glad we got to this place.  Not THIS actual place, but this place, between us.  He said as he motioned between the two of them.  He slipped his finger beneath her chin, push her face up to face his.  She caught her breath as she stared up at Max, the sun shining down from behind him making him look more God like by the minute,  ‘How fitting.’  She thought to herself.  They stared into each other’s eyes, their lips jut a breath away.  Neither one wanting to break the spell that they were caught up in.  She gripped his shirt in her hands and drew him close ever so slightly.  Max needed no other encouragement he greedily consumed her lips in one hot, simmering, heart stopping kiss.  She was consumed by his heat, his touch, and his kisses.  Everything that he was willing to offer, she gobbled up like it was the Last Supper, her last breath of air.  When he finally pulled back they were both breathless, she leaned her forehead against his chin and whispered softly.

I love it when you do that.

    Do what?  Kiss you?

No I love it when you make everything disappear and there is nothing but me and you.  You make me feel like there is no where you would rather be, than with me, in those few precious moments where I forget about everything and anything.  Everything except you.  Max pulled her closer, wrapping his strong, tan arms around her delicate frame.  He nuzzled his face into her hair, inhaling the scent of honeysuckle.  He closed his eyes letting her scent seep deep down into his pores.

Amelia, there is nowhere I would rather be then with you in this exact moment, in this exact place, doing exactly this.  He whispered into her hair.  She nuzzled even closer, sliding her hands up his chest and around his neck.  She ran her hands through his honey blonde hair, scraping her finger nails over his scalp.  He gave a low growl of pleasure.  Keep that up woman and I won’t be held responsible for what I do next.  She pulled back and slapped at his chest in a playful manner.  How dare you Max, the Gods would strike us dead for doing such a thing in Athena’s temple.  He grabbed her wrist and brought it to his lips, mumbling against her skin.  Oh but what a way to go.  He said as he place a soft kiss to the inside of her wrist.  He watched her eyes flutter shut, she moaned slightly, her lips quivered.  Oh yes, if they weren’t in Athena’s temple he would do exactly what she was thinking about.  He intertwined his fingers with hers and tugged her toward the mopeds.  Come on princess, we better go.  They might strike us dead just because of the thoughts that are running through your head.  She bit her lip with embarrassment, pink rising in her cheeks.  She trudged along reluctantly behind him, all the while watching his jeans hug that firm ass of his.  Amelia looked back one last time before leaving Athena’s temple, she knew she would never get this chance again, when she turned back to Max she spotted Basel and Bella getting a little up close and personal, as they chatted intimately with in each other’s space.  When they spied Max and Amelia’s approach they took a few steps back from each other, trying to seem oh so casual.

They all hopped on their mopeds without a word and made their way to their next destination.  They spent the next hour or so visiting places like The Panathenaic Stadium, where the first Olympics were held and The National Gardens of Athens.  They were all enjoying their time immensely, before Amelia’s stomach started to rumble, regardless of the time they spent traveling this morning, she knew it had to be close to lunch time.  She suggested stopping for lunch and asked Bella if she knew of any good placed to eat.  Her face lit up, she exclaimed that she knew exactly where to take them and it would be her treat.  Basel insisted that she didn’t need to, they had money to spend, but she pushed at Basel insisting that this was part of his birthday gift.  She told the tour guide to bring them back to where they started and they could walk the rest of the way.  She saw Amelia’s face and giggled.  I promise Amelia it’s only about a block from where you ate breakfast.  She watched relief wash across Amelia’s face.  They drove their mopeds back to where they started, Bella told them about this restaurant that was just around the corner.  You’ll love it, I promise!  She squealed reaching for Basel’s hand pulling him with her.  Amelia and Max watched the sparks fly in Basel’s eyes when Bella reached for his hand, pulling him with her as they walked to their destination.  They looked at each other with a knowing smile, watching Basel be a normal, young sixteen year old boy engaging in what was turning out to be a possible new relationship with Bella.  Amelia reached for Max’s own hand but he quickly slid his arm around her waist, pulling her close to him.  She let herself be drawn to him as she slipped her one arm around his waist.  He leaned down and kissed the top of her head.  Having fun?  He asked.  She sighed nodding her head with enthusiasm.  The most, but I don’t think it compares to the fun Basel is having with Bella.  She pointed to the newly developing relationship that walked just a few feet in front of them.  Watching their clasped hands swing back and forth.  Max watched the two of them, happy that Basel could actually be a normal teenager for once.  It wasn’t long before they reached the restaurant that Bella was so excited about.  As they rounded the corner Bella pointed to a small brick restaurant that was nothing more than a brick building with seating outside.  She turned to Max and Amelia.

I know it doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the food is out of this world.  You guys like seafood?  She asked pulling the door to the front open, little bells hanging from the door signaling their arrival.  She waved at the man behind the counter.  Before getting nods from everyone that seafood was okay.  She turned to Basel, asking him to find a table for their group while she took care of the food.  Make sure it’s a big table Basel, we are going to need it.  She said with a wink.  Basel smiled at her before turning back to Amelia and Max.  She says we need a big table, she says we are going to need it.  Basel said with a shrug.  They spotted a booth in the corner that seemed to accommodate their party and whatever Bella was ordering.  It was moments later Bella slid into the booth next to Basel, she rubbed her hands together gleefully.  I hope you guys are hungry.  Before anyone could answer a young boy approached the table taking their drink order.   Max got a domestic beer, Amelia ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio, both Basel and Bella followed up with Pepsi.  Their waiter left them, to retrieve their drinks.  While he was gone Bella proceeded to clear everything from the table, getting suspicious looks from her lunch dates.  Trust me it will be necessary.  She said playfully.  Max leaned back stretching an arm behind Amelia, curling one of her bouncy curls around his finger.  Amelia laid her hand on his thigh giving it a small squeeze.  Are you enjoying yourself Basel?  Amelia asked.  All eyes on Basel he looked to Bella and replied.  So far...this has been the best birthday ever.  It’s also the only birthday I have ever celebrated.  So to answer your question Amelia.  Yes I am enjoying myself.  They all watched as Bella’s face turned various shades of pink.  She opened her mouth to reply but was interrupted by their waiter.  He passed their drinks around telling them their meal will arrive shortly.  They thanked him as he hurried off back to the kitchen.  They each took sips of their drinks when Bella chimed in.  Basel why is this the only birthday you have ever celebrated?  Is it against your religion or are you just one of those people who don’t make a big deal about it?  Basel stopped sipping his Pepsi he looked at Amelia and Max over the rim of his glass, who also stopped mid sip.  Bella looked at each of them and quickly realized she had said something she shouldn’t have.  She swallowed nervously as the silence at their table grew louder.  She tucked her hair behind her ears and apologized to Basel.  I’m sorry Basel.  I shouldn’t have pried into your personal life like that.  You don’t have to answer that.  It was rude of me.  She said as she glanced out the window hoping the stares from her lunch date would disappear.  Basel looked to Amelia and Max he was hesitant on how much too really tell Bella about his old life.  Amelia gave him a small smile and mouthed the words. Just be honest.  Max nodded in agreement.  Basel reached over taking Bella’s hand in his own.  It’s okay Bella really.  You weren’t rude, just curious.  There’s nothing wrong with that.  He gave her a reassuring smile and went on to explain why he never celebrated his birthday.  I didn’t have the life I have now Bella, before things were really hard and I was left on my own to fend for myself a lot of the time.  Birthdays were the least of my worries, living day to day and surviving that’s what was important.  Don’t feel sorry for me that was the hand that I was dealt and I played it the best I could.  I don’t know about you but I think I turned out okay.  He said turning to smile at Amelia and Max.  Well said Basel, well said indeed.  Max said.  Bella looked back and forth between Amelia and Max and then Basel.  Her face was a mass of confusion.  Finally, hesitantly she asked Amelia and Max the question that was on her mind.  Why?  Why would you do that to him?  Max cocked his head to the side.  Do what?  OH!  OHHHH NO!  WE didn’t do that to him.  We aren’t his parent’s honey.  Max explained quickly.  Amelia spit her wine across the table sending her into a coughing fit.  She wiped her wine from her chin, frantically cleaning up her mess.  She giggled slightly at Amelia.  Oh I just naturally assumed you were his....ah....his parents.  Sorry.  My mouth seems to be getting me into all sorts of trouble today.  It’s quite all right Bella, it happens to the best of us.  Amelia said while she patted her shirt where wine had landed.  Basel helped Amelia clean up the rest of the wine and reassured Bella that everything was fine.  Bella trust me I have a much better life now, more than I could have ever thought of having.  A year ago I never would have imagine being where I am now.  If it wasn’t for Piper and Chase and these two, who knows where I would be.  So I am very grateful to be where I am, no complaints."  He said as he clasped Bella’s hand give it a small squeeze.  She sagged with a bit of relief at Basel’s statement.  She smiled softly at him and then spied something over his shoulder that made her grin grow, her face lighting up.  Amelia and Max along with Basel turned to see what made Bella smile so brightly.  Walking out of the kitchen was the chef she spoke with earlier, he was carrying what looked like a basin, their waiter following closely behind.  The chef placed the basin in the middle of the table and the waiter followed with a giant plate of pita bread.  Bella leaned in towards the basin, inhaling deeply.  Her eyes fluttered shut and without opening her eyes she thanked the chef and waiter.  When she opened her eyes she saw three sets of wide eyes staring back at her.

What?  It’s called the kitchen sink, because it’s all in there.  She giggled as she plucked a piece of shrimp from the giant basin.  She popped it into her mouth, groaning with pleasure as the juices exploded into her mouth.  Bella quickly passed out plates, explaining what was in the dish.  It’s called the kitchen sink because it literally has everything in it.  Angel hair pasta, shrimp, chicken, sausage, lobster, crab meat, garden veggies and the most amazing tomato sauce you have ever tasted.  I rarely get to order this because it’s SOOOO big, but since there are four of us, I am confident we can make a pretty decent dent in it.  She grabbed her own fork and started dishing out some of the meal into her own plate, while Amelia bravely reached forward pinching a piece of lobster from the dish.  She popped it in her mouth her eyes fluttered shut, she didn’t say a word for a few moments and chewed very slowly.  After swallowing her bite, she opened her eyes to see Max staring at her with hungry eyes, she cleared her throat and declared.  Oh. My. God.  Bella that is heavenly.  Here, Max you got to try this.  She plucked a piece of sausage from the basin and fed it Max.  He happily open is mouth letting Amelia feed him.  He chewed slowly letting the flavors and tomato juices seduce his taste buds.  He didn’t quite have the same reaction that Amelia did, but he was damn impressed.

Damn.....Amelia, you need to learn how to make this, actually you need to learn how to cook first and then you need to learn how to make this.  He gave her a playful wink while he loaded his plate full of the kitchen sink.  Amelia stuck her tongue out at Max, also filling her plate with the kitchen sink.

The foursome spent the last hour stuffing there faces and talking among themselves.  After putting more food in his stomach than Max thought he could, he leaned back rubbing circles around his stomach.  I can’t.....eat another bite.  That is one of the best meals I have ever had.  He finished his beer, reaching behind Amelia he rubbed one of her bouncy, blonde curls between his fingers.  She smiled up at him, popping the last bit of pita bread into her mouth.

I agree.  Kudos to the chef and props to Bella.  Amelia smiled at Bella, who was mopping up tomato sauce from her plate with a piece of pita bread.

Bella thanked Amelia but gave all the praise to her friend the chef.  She eyed the nearly empty basin, along with everyone’s empty plates. It’s the best and not a lot of people know about this little gem.  Bella motioned to the
