About this ebook
Love, lust and loss are the themes that bind this double-shot of supernatural suspense into one haunting collection. In Sweet & Sticky Sarah, a self-stylized Jack the Ripper gets more than he bargained for when he tangles with the molasses-soaked victim of his company's industrial negligence. In Rachel at Rest, a cuckolded man seeks vengeance against his wife's vampire seducer to avoid taking responsibility for his own marital shortcomings. Two stories of longing from beyond the grave that equal twice the terror for the price of one!

And let me tell you, that was the last lip I ever took from a whore,
Earley shouted. Didn’t have lips once I was done with her, in fact.
He drained his beer mug of backwash, pudgy fingers smearing the glass with pork grease. Tommy took it and dropped it right into the well of suds. He didn’t like touching Earley’s glasses if he could help it, but that was his job. Earley pushed another coin across the counter.
We’re closing up, Reg,
Tommy said. Why don’t you go on home?
Earley reared back, red-faced. What? My money no good?
Your money’s good. It’s just I’ve been standin’ here all night, listening to your stories and now my feet are achin’ and I want to get on home to Maryann.
Ah, sweet Maryann,
Earley sighed. Tommy did not like the way he did that, the way this pig of a man spoke of his wife. Now there’s a fine piece. You’re a lucky one, Tommy boy. And you with barely a pot to piss in.
Tommy smiled patiently. Earley was trying to get his goat and he just wanted the man out of his pub. Let him go tell his vulgar stories elsewhere, to the whores out on the Common. And who knows what he do to them after that, poor things. We’re happy,
Tommy said. Which is more than can be said for some.
Who…me?
Earley made a big show of taking offense. I’m rich, in case you’d forgotten. A little gold coin can buy a lot of happiness my friend. It can buy a lot of other things as well.
Earley looked around the dingy pub. There was one drunk, a derelict named Fitzy, sleeping in one of the corner tables. Maybe I’ll buy this pub.
Not for sale,
Tommy said. Some things you can’t buy. Now if you don’t mind…
Ah, don’t get all bent out of shape.
Earley pushed off of his stool and stepped away from the bar. I’m just razzing you, you miserable Mick.
He slapped another coin on the bar, just so Tommy didn’t forget who held the real power here. I’ll see you tomorrow.
I hope not, Tommy thought. I hope the Back Bay Butcher meets you out on the common and spares me the sight of your ugly
