About this ebook
Used to being one of the guys, to never relying on anyone, Scotty doesn’t believe in happily ever after—especially with someone like Owen. Her instinct is confirmed when Casper Christiansen arrives to drag his prodigal brother home, bringing with him a truckload of family drama—and even worse, the news that Casper is wanted for questioning in connection to a crime back in Minnesota.
But Owen is more than the sum of his mistakes, a truth both he and Scotty discover when she escorts both brothers to Deep Haven as part of her new job on the Anchorage police force. Thrust into an unfamiliar world of family, faith, and fresh starts, Scotty begins to see potential for a happy ending . . . if she’s brave enough to embrace it.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I always enjoy reading books from this author and couldn't wait to start. This is another big win for the author. She is consistent in her writing technique by giving readers wonderful story lines and characters we come to love or sometimes hate. I must admit I did have a few tears fall as I read this beautiful story that is a bit of the prodigal son returns meets Deadliest Catch. Owen was the star hockey player who had it all. He was famous, nice looking and well recognized in the hockey league as a great player. One day all that changed and he runs from his troubles straight to a crabbing boat located in Alaska. This will not be an easy job as he boards the vessel ready to tackle his new life. The authors description about crabbing was very well written and yes I thought of the shoe THE DEADLIEST CATCH as I read the riveting encounter experienced at sea. The sea is not nice and Owen finds that out quickly. Much to his surprise there is a woman on the boat. Her name is Scotty and just happens to be the captains daughter. What will happen as these two work together on the rough seas doing a dangerous job? When Owen finds out that there is a big crisis at home, he decides to go and try to mend a relationship with his family. I won't say much about what brings Scotty home with Owen except to say this is one funny scene . Owen is so focused on getting her to follow him that he does something that shocks Scotty. When they arrive at his house, the welcome is somewhat cold from some members of the family. This is where the authors excellent writing skills shine. She is able to show a family in crisis yet willing to begin the process of forgiveness to Owen who left them without working things out. I have always heard the saying "You can never go home again." In this case that saying is wrong and as you read the story you see how a family comes together to help one of their own. The family will be tested in their faith and struggle to overcome pain and hurt. Who can they turn to in their darkest hour? The author does a great job of showing the conflict between Owen and his brother. What secret will Owen discover? Will it push the brothers further apart or draw them closer? The book has several relationships that are worth following to see how God works things out . The key is to trust him , have faith and forgive. I highly recommended this moving story about a family in crisis who turn to their faith for help.I received a copy of this book from The Tyndale Blog Network for an honest review
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was my favorite book in the Christiansen series. It really rolls all the books together. I will miss this family. Sometimes it is not good to get to the last brother or sister. This book was about Owen, Scotty, and Casper and Raina. Casper goes out to find Owen to tell him he has a daughter by Raina. Owen is near Alaska working on a crab boat but goes overboard to try and save Scotty. They all end up back home to keep Casper out of jail for killing a man. This had a great amount of romance and some suspense. I loved it. I received this book from Tyndale for a fair and honest opinion.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Susan May Warren’s You're the One that I Want is a heartwarming and gripping tale. After Owen Christiansen’s NHL career ended due to injury, he disappeared and became a crew member on an Alaskan crabbing boat to begin a new life. He is interested in the captain’s daughter, Elise “Scotty” McFlynn; the two face some life-altering challenges along the way. This contemporary romance takes place on the sea, in Alaska, and in Minnesota. You're the One that I Want is a thought-provoking novel that is full of unexpected twists. The story is filled with situations of losing your way, faith, and Christian values. I enjoyed the plot. The characters are faced with many obstacles. I like both Owen and Scotty. I appreciated that Scotty saw Owen for whom his is and not who he was. I like that they relied on each other when faced with death. They have an interesting relationship and great chemistry. They are good for each other and help each other grow. I also enjoyed the situation with Casper and Raina. There are many realistic dynamics that take place that make this novel spellbinding. This is the first book that I have read by Susan May Warren. I had no problem following it even though it was the sixth book in the series. I do want to go back and read some of the earlier books in the series. I enjoyed Susan May Warren’s writing style and content.Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5You’re the One That I Want by Susan May WarrenThe book summary sounded interesting to me, enough to request and ultimately won a free copy. Have read other books recently, Evergreen, by this author and have enjoyed the books.Like how the book starts out with a letter from a mother to her son and what she expects his life will turn out to be.Story starts out on a crabbing boat in Alaska and Scotty's father is the captain and she works alongside the men, also taking over the wheelhouse when the captain needs a break.Loved hearing of how the work on the crab boat is done, each doing their specific job and using their hands...Tragedy strikes and they go overboard in the North Pacific and it's days til they are discovered. We learn of his relatives and their thoughts as they learn of the accident.Circumstances bring them together and they all end up in MN to straighten out the drama the family has. Things escalate to really bad and she knows she has stayed too long, she needs to get back to her life.Even though there are a lot of family characters it's easy to keep them straight, especially if you've read other books in this series. Love the mystery and how they are continually reminded to 'keep the faith'.Really enjoyed this story, can't wait to read the other family members books.Learned new things and found new interesting places to visit. Loved girlie girl intervention as I've never had one, was great to see it in action. So many twists and turns, NOT a dull boring book by any means. Can be read as a standalone.I received this book from Tyndale House Publishers via The Book Club Network *bookfun.org* who have provided me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
