Logs crackled in the fireplace and Adam crouched in front of it, jabbing the fiery embers. Orange flames crackled and licked around the iron poker. It was just another day at the cabin and Adam was procrastinating as hard as he could.

He snatched a guilty glance at his work desk, his laptop barely visible between the stacks of books and papers. It had been a while since he’d even turned it on.

Adam turned back to the fire, trying to ignore the pressing guilt of not working on his novel. It was the entire reason he was at the cabin, and he was stuck with writer’s block that he just couldn’t shake. Nothing could get the words flowing.

The fire continued to burn bright and Adam stood up. He stretched out, running a hand down his soft torso. All this sitting around and he was getting even more of a paunch. He knew he should work out to try and encourage himself.

Instead, Adam sat in the plush armchair in front of the fire. Like a cat, he bathed in the heat. Out of the window, snow was falling. It came down slowly, like little feathers falling from the sky. This was the ideal place to be on a cold winter’s day.

The fire was a warm a pleasant sensation against Adam’s naked flesh. It danced across him and he languished in the hedonism of his nudity. The fellowship probably didn’t imagine this is how he would spend his writing retreat.

The whole point of being up here was to get away from the hustle and bustle and work on his first novel. He had won the grant out of a pool of over a thousand applicants. In the beginning, Adam had been thrilled, but now he couldn't write a word to save himself.

The cabin was nice, though. He didn’t know how old it was, but it had a rustic charm. With well-worn log walls decorated with mounted animal heads. They were trophies from another time when men roamed the woods hunting for food and leisure. Adam wasn’t much of a hunter, but he couldn’t deny the perfect sensation of the vintage bear skin rug on his skin.

The entire thing was almost a cliché, but that’s what Adam liked about it. He felt like he was in the olden days, on the frontier. Although he had a freezer stocked full of food and regular deliveries. The whole time here he had barely even gone out in the snow.

You’re here to write, Adam reminded himself. He flinched at the sound of his own voice. Talking aloud while he was alone was a habit he was trying to shake. It was hard, though, he craved a good conversation.

He could always go down into town, but in this weather that was a dreary prospect. The last person he talked to was the delivery guy a few days earlier. Dale was a grumpy sort, and Adam knew that he loathed his laziness.

But what Adam really craved was the kind of human contact that wasn’t steeped in polite banality. He was single, of course. No boyfriend would let him go on a winter-long retreat, or so he thought. Even before coming up here he had been feeling lonely.

Maybe that was part of the problem. He couldn’t write because he was so caught up in his own failings. Nearly twenty-five without even a long-term boyfriend on his record. A little overweight, hairy and not exactly winning any beauty awards.

Adam didn’t like hook-up culture much either. All his friends were on Grindr or Scruff or whatever the latest way to get your dick sucked was. Adam wasn’t about that life. He craved a connection, a stimulating conversation followed by stimulating his prostate.

Call me old-fashioned, he said, his voice doing nothing to assuage the creep of loneliness.

With a yawn, Adam leaned back in the recliner. His cock started to stiffening while he relaxed. He eyed his manhood while it bounced slowly to life. Like a snake uncoiling in the sun his dick sensed his gaze. It was that time again.

He sighed as he wrapped his hand around his slowly-throbbing meat. His mind began to wander to fantasy. A big strong man
