About this ebook

Episode four in Season One of Ileandra Young's mutli-season paranormal thriller 'Dead And Alive'

Injured, alone, rejected by the only woman she has ever loved, Diavian Hatara has reached an all new low.
Her response?
Well . . . humans aren’t the only creatures who turn to food for comfort.

Satiated and healed from a fresh infusion of blood, Diavian considers her options and realises she has none. Kailah is her only hope for a safe, fulfilling life and no choice remains but to make her see that—even if she must do so by force.

But now the past is catching up to her and the trail of devastation left by her search has brought the Assassins right to her doorstep.

Now she must choose between saving her own skin or warning Kailah of the approaching danger. No problem, except bumping into Kailah again may be just as dangerous as tangling with the Assassins.

    How This Works

‘Dead And Alive’ is a multi-season serial following the lives of three characters: Diavian Hatara, Kailah Turner and Michael Garran. Each ‘season’ is of novella length (between 30,000 and 40,000 words), split into 6–8 ‘episodes’.

Episodes will be released every other month with a gap of 3–4 months between seasons.

To receive notifications of each new episode, I recommend that you check out my Smashwords Author Page or sign up for my quarterly newsletter.

Aside from that, it’s pretty simple. Grab a drink, get comfortable and prepare for a fast-paced thriller, charting what happens when the lives of vampires and humans collide.

    The bleeding had stopped.

    Finally.

Diavian peered into the grimy fragment of mirror and teased her hands over the wound on her cheek; not big, just deep.

Groans came from a figure on the ground near her feet. A whimper.

She side-stepped the grasping hands of the dying, mouse-like man lying in a puddle of filthy water. Beside him, the shards of a broken mop shaft littered the floor tiles.

    Too many Kung-Fu movies, human.

She kicked at the twisted mop head. It cracked off the door of the nearest cubicle and fell out of sight on the other side.

Patching up wounds in a public toilet. Disgusting.

A trail of blood oozed from the side of the cleaner’s throat, trickling off his shoulder to mingle with water soaking the floor. It swirled in little pink eddies before flowing down the drain.

At least her leg no longer hurt; no sign of the bullet wound. The only injury left was her cheek, gouged by a shard of glass from the scene in the park. Seconds later that closed too.

Healed and fed, Diavian spared a last glance for the man at her feet. His eyes begged. Groans of pain began to fade.

‘I can’t help you.’ She pulled her jacket tighter around her body. ‘I’ve never been
