About this ebook

The Black Watchman Sleepeth is an encouragement to the Black church that God has not forgotten nor forsaken us as a people. It is a clarion call to awaken and arise, putting on strength and garments of splendor. We are to shake off the dust of the past, rise up, sit enthroned in heavenly places, freeing ourselves from the chains off of our neck. It is a freedom call, and labor of love that requires vision, burden and voice. We advance in synergy of unity, and the mobilization of strategic intercession under the leadership of the apostles and prophets. Collectively, we decree and declare with a priestly and prophetic voice under the banner of Jesus Christ and in the powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit, “Let My People Go.”

First and foremost I give praise, thanks and honor The Triune God My Superhero

I would like to pay tribute to my daughter Jazzy who crossed life’s finishing line with all of her strength, endurance and God’s grace. She fought the good fight of faith, finished her race and left a legacy behind that continues to challenge and inspire those who loved her. My soul looks back and wonder, How she got over".

To my family, whom I love.

I give honor to Apostle F. Robinson, who encouraged me to write the vision and run with it. I give honor and thanks to Rev V. Amos who helped me get back up again, and fine-tuned the vision. By their example, I am learning what it means to be a soldier in the army of the Lord. ’

Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time….Habakkuk 2:2b

The Broken Hopes of Social Activism

But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood

    (Ezekiel 33:6 NIV).

"And do this understanding the present time: The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed"

    (Romans 13:11 NIV).

Every black movement that ever existed in this country, from integrationism to the various mixtures of nationalism, has failed to yield the enduring fruits for which it was intended. The solutions to our problems as a race have, for the most part, been relegated to the political, socio-economic arenas. One of the exceptions was the Civil Rights Movement, a non-violent freedom movement, which began in the South. The movement emerged out of the black church, but subsequently shifted its focus and momentum with the inclusion of other groups. Had the Civil Rights Movement maintained its focus and continued seeking God in corporate sustained intercession, the history of black people would have been different.

The Civil Rights Movement was bound for failure with all its sacrificial good works, Harold Cruse said in Crisis of the Negro Intellectual. Thus, it was absolutely predictable that the Negro movement would encounter innumerable barriers, blocks and dead-ends and finally the grand impasse. One cannot have a movement in America rooted in the protest tradition, but also rife with integrationisim, separatism, interracialism, nationalism, Marxist and anti-Marxist radicalism, Communist and anti-Communist radicalism, liberalism, (Jewish and Christian) anarchism, nihilism, and religionism (the Muslim gambit) and expect such a movement not to be a failure. 1

Conflicting and clashing theories led to the collapse of the Northern-based Civil Rights Movement, according to Cruse. So the question asked in Amos 3:3 remains relevant concerning the Civil Rights Movement: Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction? (NLT). Likewise, "Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them: Any kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and a house divided against itself will fall’’. (Luke 11:17 NIV).

Since the collapse of the Civil Rights Movement, there has been no corporate voice, only a spiritual vacuum. In the midst of all this brokenness, people are searching for answers. If we, as believers, do not fill the vacuum with the power and glory and the presence of God, then the vacuum will be filled with something else, Mahesh and Bonnie Chavada said in The Watch of the Lord. 2

Why has it been that for the last two decades the church has engaged in bewildering silence, offering no fresh vision? Have we forgotten that, Where there is no vision, the people perish? (Proverbs 29:18a KJV). Social ills and moral depravity are cutting deep with lightning speed into the very heart and soul of our race. America’s urban landscapes have become a fertile spawning ground—yielding a harvest of poverty, hopelessness, violence and despair. Despite the political party in office, gains that were made during the Civil Rights movement have been turned back.

The unequal distribution of wealth continues to widen in the post-civil rights era. There is unequal justice as well as income inequality with low wages and part-time jobs offering no benefits. There has been a systematic effort to dismantle public school systems in the poorest urban areas with the media heralding doomsday budgets. In one of the poorest large cities in America, four thousand employees were laid off, which included teachers, school counselors and other personnel. A caption in a major newspaper read: Welcome to Ground Zero. Will the Cradle of Liberty Be the Graveyard of Public Education?

Federal cutbacks to state and city social service agencies including the private sector impact the most helpless in our society. These services include mental healthcare, disabilities, violence protection, housing, and childcare services. These services were intended to provide a safety net for the poor. World Hunger Education Services released an article, Hunger in America: 2015 United States Hunger and Poverty Facts, stating: Six years after the onset of the financial and economic crisis, hunger remains high in the United States. The financial and economic crisis that erupted in 2008 caused a significant increase in hunger in the United States. This high level of hunger diminished somewhat in 2013, according to the latest government report (with the most recent statistics) released in September 2014. 3 Children were food insecure at times during the year in 9.9 percent of households with children. These 3.8 million households were unable at times during the year to provide adequate, nutritious food for their children. While children are usually shielded by their parents, who go hungry themselves, from the disrupted eating patterns and reduced food intake that characterize very low food security. Both children and adults experienced instances of very low food security in 0.9 percent of households with children "(360,000 households) in 2013. 4

Budget cutbacks and policy changes are just a few of the factors that are contributing to the trend of rising poverty rates and inequality in America. Globalization and technology that replaces jobs, the decline of unions, underemployment and unemployment are also contributing factors.

Working people and the poor have experienced declines in income, while their taxes are increasing. Unions, which have historically championed the cause of the working classes, have had to struggle with those who would seek to diminish their impact.

Additionally, there are proposed cuts on the horizon. House Bill Makes New Round of Damaging Cuts in Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, written by David Reich and Brandon Depot for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities states the following: The 2016 Labor, Health and Human Services (HHS), and Education appropriations bill approved by the House Appropriations Committee provides $3.7 billion less than the year before, with the largest cuts coming in education and health. The bill eliminates or deeply cuts several major programs that aid local schools, ends grants for expanding preschool programs … In several areas the cumulative cut is even larger: K-12 education and job training, for example, are each about one-fifth below 2010 levels. Will buffers or safety nets remain for the poor? Is there a party that one can invest their hope
