McKay's out of control. After being possessed by the lightning wielding spirit of the dead Fae in Roots & Fangs, the Scottish-American is accidently blowing holes in the Fae Castle when he gets angry--or aroused.

McKay and his Fae lover reach out to their past--McKay to Mahihkan, the Canadian Werewolf of McKay's Werewolf Ways, and to the Irish Pooka--the ultimate Shape-Shifter, from Roots & Fangs. All gather in Seattle where they discover the rogue Alpha Werewolf who was the villain in McKay's Werewolf Ways--is on a killing spree, with a hit list of all those who were involved in his being turned over to be executed by an Enforcer--the "police force" of the Supernatural Community. But this Werewolf has done something never known before in history--he's killed an Enforcer. Bodies are stacking up--but the primary targets are Mahihkan--and McKay.

I am a Native American. I am also a Storyteller. Some stories are best told during the day. Some stories are best told during the night. I tell many different types of Stories. One of the favorite characters for many Native American Storytellers is Coyote. Coyote stories are also the ones most often censored by non-Natives.Did you know, for example, where I'm from it is said Coyote had two penises? You can visit my blog: www.SkyeEagleday.blogspot.com

McKay's Serial Killer Shifter - Skye Eagleday

    McKay’s Serial Killer Shifter

    Skye Eagleday

    Introduction

As a reader, I always loved it when my favorite characters from one book series cross-over into another. It always felt as if they all had lives of their own that continued outside of a particular book. As an author, I enjoy this even more because there are characters I care for so much, it’s great to have them back in my head again. Just so, McKay’s Serial Killer Shifter (MSKS) is part of my Seattle Supernatural Community, which began with Ash: Before Dawn, that features the beautiful Native American gay vampire after he had had an affair with the Irish Pooka, and as he faces the deadly and ancient Kree, referenced by the vampire of MSKS.

The first of the McKay series, McKay’s Werewolf Ways, introduces McKay to the paranormal when he meets the Metis Loup-Garou (Canadian Werewolf) Mahihkan, and has to deal with the rogue Alpha Werewolf who is the primary villain of MSKS. This then leads to Root & Fangs, documenting McKay’s retracing the steps his beloved Grandfather took from his native Scotland to Seattle. In doing so he discovers how complex Logan McKay’s life had really been and falls in love with the Scottish Fae, Niall. Roots & Fangs also introduces Rory/Maeve—the Irish Pooka who is the ultimate Shape-Shifter. I’m certain Maeve will be showing up in some of my future work as well. If you want to find out even more about what happens during a full moon in Seattle, check out Eye of Wolf: Alpha Gay Werewolf Romance. This one features Dallas, a very ambitious Werewolf who has moved to Seattle, leaving behind his former lover, the Werebear, back in Phoenix. It’s in Seattle where he’ll encounter his future partner Jax and one of the most dysfunctional Pack families he’s ever dealt with. I’ll go ahead and put the links to these titles in the back of this book.

    Chapter One

This is coming out of your account, Niall’s mother said as she stepped over the rubble. Niall’s one comfort was the fact Kenna wasn’t pissy over the fact his current lover was human—well, sort of human. She was more upset about the fact McKay seemed to randomly destroy parts of the castle.

Not that it was really McKay’s fault—which was connected to him not precisely being a run of the mill human. The Fae hadn’t seen what his mother called a draoidh for hundreds of years—Niall hadn’t even known the word. There were no longer actual Druids or Wizards wandering around the Highlands. His mother had also explained in front of McKay he technically wasn’t a draoidh anyway, since one studied and trained for years to be one. McKay had gained his new abilities as an unexpected consequence of being possessed by the spirit of one of Niall’s ancestors—Bonnie Laird Jamie, who had been called Master of Storms and Lightning. Part of their history involved him calling up a gale that destroyed an invading armada.

The Irish Pooka had sneered that he and the other Fae had forgotten their magic, and he hated to admit it, but Rory (or Maeve—depending on which gender he was at the moment) was right. For the most part, magic was hard. It would be possible to use magic to replace the new hole in the wall, but the amount of energy it would require would be roughly equivalent to simply repairing it physically. He’d just call in a human repairman. Again.

The truth was, the Internet was more helpful most of the time than magic. Why expend so much energy on flying when you could just use your smartphone and book a flight? The only thing that really came easily to the Fae was glamour, but even that wasn’t much of a help in the current century. No Fae would try passing off a hand full of leaves for gold coins to an unsuspecting mortal. Hell, humans didn’t even use gold coins anymore. Like any other Fae, he paid for everything with a credit card. Little by little, the knowledge and use of Fae magic had faded away—so slowly no one really noticed it. They maintained certain ceremonies, but that only emphasized the idea magic was something rarely done and then it was as much an opportunity for feasting and festival as it was to do things like increase the yield of crops or drive off an enemy.

There had been no invasions or enemies to repel in Niall’s lifetime. The only Fae who were rumored to hold more tightly to their old ways were those of the Unseelie Court, and none of Niall’s kind would ever go cap in hand to ask a favor of the Unseelie. Niall unconsciously shuddered at the very idea. He had been raised that as a member of the Seelie Court, he was ‘good and anyone from the Unseelie Court was by definition, evil."

He sighed. Pookas were considered Seelie. With more reluctance than he could imagine he decided he needed to call Rory. Or Maeve. Whatever.

    Chapter Two

Well, this is a great surprise, said Maeve. Miss me much? There was a momentary pause, and did that ginger American toss you off like you tossed me?

We’re still together. And just to be clear, my mother may hate Pookas, but I always loved you. I swear the fact we’re not together is more about you than me.

There was a long silence on the other end and Naill wondered if he had alienated the one person who might solve his problem.

Yeah, fuck you. After you’ve been around for a couple of centuries you know you learn to recognize a lie. You’re really calling me because McKay ended up over the top because he was possessed by Bonnie What’s His Name, right?

Niall kept his own tongue quiet.

Yeah, I thought so, said Maeve. You managed to manufacture the first Wizard in current history. Has he destroyed most of your castle? Jaysus, it’s like giving a four year old a loaded gun.

    Niall sighed.

Anyway, as I can tell from Caller ID, you’re in Scotland. Your mortal boyfriend has tapped into some major magic mojo. And since the Seelie Court has pissed away its claim to real magic, I assume that’s why you’re courting me. Maeve shook her waist length black hair and laughed.  Let me guess—you’ve probably moped around the idea you needed to ask the Unseelie Court for help and you were so terrified you had to call me. And yes, I might not have a membership card to prove it, but Pookas have always been part of the Seelie Court. I might be a jewel thief, but I’m still considered one of the good guys.

Maeve laughed again. If you want my help, and if you want your pitiful castle intact, then drag your sorry ass and his to Seattle because it’s where I am and I’m not flying back to Scotland for your issues. Come to me. And if I introduce you to Fiona, you better kiss my ass in front of her. In fact, you should expect to kiss my ass under any circumstances. Am I clear?

    Chapter Three

    Can we coordinate dates?

Sure, said Mahihkan, You have no idea how happy I am at the thought of seeing you again.

If we’re clear I’m now in a monogamous relationship—sure—no problem. I will always love you, but I’m now in a committed relationship with Niall.

So, given the fact I’m in a committed relationship with Kerrie, I’m not in a position to criticize guy with guy action. I just want to say I’m not currently focused on being with a man.

Yeah, I thought so, laughed McKay. But I’m not ashamed to say I miss being with you.

It was a great summer and you’ll always have a special place in my heart.

So, you think Kerrie can help me?

She’s the most powerful witch I’ve ever encountered. And trust me—in trying to learn Stone and Maze magic, I’ve been in touch with the most impressive people in North America. I’m just confused at why the Fae can’t figure you out.

"Apparently the Fae over here have let their magic slip. As a Scottish-American, I can’t help but wonder if it’s like a lot of immigrant groups. When you move to another country, you sort of freeze the culture at the point you left and that’s what you celebrate. But the home country keeps moving on and evolving. As near as I can tell, other than some ritual stuff, the Fae haven’t exactly been on the cutting edge of magic for generations."

Mahihkan hesitated for a moment. "To be honest, I’ve not had that much contact with the North American Fae. Like their European relatives, they don’t really identify with shifters, and don’t belong to the Supernatural Councils that have been set up.
