Introduction

This is not your typical workers comp claim sob story that you always read about. This book's content covers some interesting subjects and facts that would surprise most people. It exposes the real world of the workers comp system and takes those subjects and facts and links the content up to a real workers comp claim matter. You will have a completely different outlook of the system by the time you finish reading this book entitled Rob The Victim.

As everyone knows the workers comp system doesn't have the greatest reputation for taking care of injured workers. Being an injured worker myself, I can testify to that truth of the workers comp system's reputation. But it’s not so much that it's the system itself that doesn't take care of injured workers, the system itself is fine. It’s the people who work within the system who are not fine and the problem with your workers comp claim.

Actually, the workers comp system is the oldest social insurance program in the US. So it has had plenty of time for folks to shall we say, corrupt the system little by little over the years as it has become. From my own personal experience of being an injured worker, I can tell you that your own attorney has a lot to do with your being taken care of in the workers comp system. And in reality, a lot of the time, it’s both attorneys involved in your workers comp case who can be the problem with your claim.

This book exposes the real world of the workers comp system and the corruption within the system. It proves that the people who work in the system are corrupted and that they rob claimants for personal gain. A lot of what you hear about with regard to the workers comp system is misleading and false hype created by insurance companies and others who work in and with the workers comp system. Particularly on the subject of claimant fraud in the workers comp system.

I may repeat myself a few times and repeat some subjects here and there at times, but it's only to drive the point home and just to drive the proof home. This is not a book that is loaded with just pictures for you to look at, its reality information in plain black and white. You will most likely be speechless overall with what you will learn from this book. The real world of the workers comp system and the corrupted people who work in the system. If you just use common sense and stick with reality you will see the reality of the workers comp system. By the time you finish reading this book entitled Rob The Victim that is.

Chapter 1 Just What Is Corruption

When you hear the word corruption most people always think in terms of money, someone is on the take for money. In most cases that is the case but it is not always the case with just the definition of corruption. The word corruption basically means things are broken, things are not correct, things are not how they are supposed to be.

Corruption is the illegitimate use of public power to benefit a private interest and person gain such as political and civil servants within government and other similar. Secretly provide a good or service to a third-party such as kickback money to benefit one's gain such as in the workers compensation system. This book has given an example of the word corruption, the insurance attorney out to personal gain off of the legit claimant and it was for kickback money.

Corruption can occur on different scales.

There is corruption that occurs as small favors between a small number of people (petty corruption), corruption that affects the government on a large-scale (grand corruption), and corruption that is so prevalent that it is part of the everyday structure of society, including corruption as one of the symptoms of organized crime (systemic corruption).

Petty corruption occurs at a smaller scale and within the established social frameworks and governing norms. Some examples include the exchange of small improper gifts or use of personal connections to obtain favors. This form of corruption is particularly common in developing countries and where public servants are significantly underpaid.

Grand corruption is defined as corruption occurring at the highest levels of government in a way that requires the significant subversion of the political, legal and economic systems. Such corruption is commonly found in countries with authoritarian or dictatorial governments but also in those without adequate policing of corruption.

Government system in many countries is divided into legislative, executive and judiciary branches in an attempt to provide services that are less prone to corruption due to their independence.

Systemic corruption (or endemic corruption) is corruption which is primarily due to the weaknesses of an organization or process. It can be contrasted with individual officials or agents that who act corruptly within the system. Factors which encourage systemic corruption include conflicting incentives, discretionary powers; monopolistic powers; lack of transparency; low pay; and a culture of impunity.

As you can see corruption comes in many flavors, not just on the take for money, though usually that it is the case that someone is on the take. Specific acts of corruption include bribery, extortion, and embezzlement in a system where corruption becomes the rule rather than the exception. Scholars distinguish between centralized and decentralized systemic corruption, depends on which level of state or government corruption.

Corruption can occur in different sectors whether they be a public or private industry. The government in which is public sector includes corruption of the political process and of government agencies such as the police as well as corruption in processes of allocating public funds for contracts, grants, and hiring. This can be at the county level, for example, corrupted cops, corrupted judges, corrupted local government who don't go so much by the book if you will.

Political corruption is the abuse of public power, office, or resources by elected government officials for personal gain, such as extortion, soliciting or offering bribes. It can also take the form of office holders maintaining themselves in office by purchasing votes by enacting laws which use taxpayers' money. Evidence suggests that corruption can have political consequences- with citizens being asked for bribes becoming less likely to identify with their country or region.
