The bad luck gods had accents like New Yorkers. Their blessings appeared to have come with a fine print, with handshakes, with speedy departures to hotels off the grid. Idols masked with metallic vision and cruel laughter.

Poor Dan Stone thought about all this as his growling stomach breached protected limits. Dan had not eaten in a very long time for the paranoia of being poisoned had seized the human requirement.

It wasn't just a matter of not eating out and preparing his own food in his swanky apartment, the worry had roots in a deeper suppositional. Dan assumed agents attempting to destroy him were tainting the food at the grocery stores, based off his previous purchases. Even if he attempted to get something new, the cashier still had to put it in the bag... oh, poor Dan.

    Terrified all the time.

    But paranoia was Rock’n’roll.

These times the real world and the pixel world always interwove. Many jobs required a special digital punch-in. Dan kept searching the virtual reality; attempting to find the proper altar to relinquish the blessings the bad luck gods gave him. It appeared though they weren't just 'gods' but 'businessmen' wandering the new virtual reality units inaugurated universally.

Dan's avatar wore an empowering suit so sleek and arrogant though the average journalist would be struggling to find a close friend refer to Dan as arrogant.

Dan's avatar had a facial appearance of triangles on his cheeks and for his nose and for the ears and for the eyes and even across the forehead. He had found a hidden server on the dark net. He was on a large ship of some kind off some island. As Dan's physical hand shoved the air, his virtual hand was slowly pushing a door open deep in the hidden quarters of the yacht.

Before Dan Stone was a massive orgy; all brands of men and women of all weight of all skin tans engaging in the unrestrained sexual sport. Though a pile of naked bodies were in the center of the room, a variety were watching from the sidelines, some completely naked with blurred faces, others cosplaying as Disney characters. A few of the players in the orgy were wearing virtual reality headgear. The same manufacturer as Dan's, his boss's company: Aiken VR.

A virtual reality session within a virtual reality session? Dan was shuddering at the thought of the nausea that'd appear from such an endeavor and all while sailing a nameless sea.
