About this ebook

All is quiet in Olvang Keep, yet the future of a kingdom may rest at the mercy of a vicious wilderness. The cards have long since been dealt, the actors all upon the stage, leaving the royal Huntsman with but a simple message. His beloved Princess has manipulated events from the very beginning to slip away into the wilds, and she fully expects him to hunt her down.

To discover what his Princess has heard whispered on the wind for so long and to finally understand his own bestial affinity to the wild, the Huntsman must leave Castle and Keep to chase a fading trail through the eternal night of the frigid Northlands, but he does not hunt alone. With companions that have seen him through thick and thin, the Huntsman rides to bear witness to the truths of Katalyne Olvang's path. What he makes of his Princess' cunning deception and the mysteries she has come to divine from the dark woods with her own hands in this final volume will be remembered as legends in time.

Let the hunt begin.

Leona D. Reish

From demons to monsters and demi-human monster girls, Leona D. Reish draws from the paranormal, myth and fantasy to create otherworldly stories of sweet corruption, divine machination and the most unlikely romances. It is here, beyond the odd vampire and werewolf, that you’ll touch tales of tails from deeper into the realms of fantasy. From lamiae and arachnes to other powerful undead and divine rulers, behind every face lies familiar desires and vulnerable hearts. Not every story is set in such high fantasy, however, as more grounded contemporary and even historic tales have been written in which more domestic taboos and powers are often revelled in. Throughout them all Leona brings an understanding of the delicacy and romance underlying darker kinks and fetishes to present the most erotic escapes to realms that can – and often should – only exist by the blessing of books and the support of avid readers. To this day Leona fights all the world’s evils within her mind to strive to bring you more great content. If you’ve enjoyed what she does and want to see more, consider following her profile and showing your support on social media where comments are always appreciated and help reinforce that the audience is really there.

Are you sure you’re going to be alright? Feilanne was still with Mikhael in the room, bringing the broad-shouldered Huntsman to glance back at her over his shoulder. Sat in a rickety chair at bedside, leaning forward with her arms folded over crossed legs, Feilanne’s disposition was cloaked in shadow, but he could tell she was displeased.

You’re worried? Well now, I’m not sure it suits you, General. He could feel her eyes on him. Not wandering, but boring into his back like daggers of warning as her teeth grit against his tone. It was all he could do to chuckle softly as he pulled down a simple cloth tunic over his head, ignoring that murderous intent.

"Given our situation, Mikhael, I would rather not bring rank into it. This whole thing yet makes me uneasy, and I would not dare officially condone any such act, there is nothing to command!" Stripped of element and power, the good General of the Olvang Army was, as the Huntsman understood it, pouting. Luck held that he could hide the wolfish grin behind his wardrobe door.

Aye, forgive me, Feilanne. Our dear Princess has never been much for stations either, has she? Truth, she respects them well and has a good head, but... Letting his words trail off into a resigned sigh as he picked out thick, leather leggings to wear over the softer thread he was already dressed in, it was Feilanne’s turn to give a quick laugh.

Hah, yes, I know. She may pay me every respect but you can see the glint of cunning in her eyes, wondering how she can slip around you... The slight growl to enter Feilanne’s words brought the Huntsman’s good spirits back around as he picked out a thick, black bear cloak.

Oh? I don’t know about that; the glint I always see is her wanting t–

"That’s enough, thank you! Gods, if anyone else knew what you’d done with Her Highness, all frozen hell would break lose... besides! She played you for fool worse than any of us!" Snapping in quickly to quiet the Huntsman’s all too personal detail, Feilanne’s voice grew increasingly irritable and loud as she realised just how much they’d been played for puppets, and him most of all.

Hm, you may be right... well, she was good in bed the night through, so I’ll forgive the underhanded intent. Chuckling more to himself, Mikhael fully expected Feilanne to launch across the room and have his head for that one, yet the exasperated General merely sat and stared in a dumbfounded stupor.

How... how in hells can you be so calm about this? Don’t you know w– Feilanne began, cut off before her voice could quite pick up.

"I know very well who she is, and what this means. I’ve spent years seeing to her safety, just as I promised her father. I took up your names and titles because they were required to associate and be seen amongst your kind. Not for some personal gain – because she was alone." Mikhael’s tone was far more serious than it had been since waking, the look in his eyes as he turned to face the General far colder.

Truth be told but I gave all too much to that station, bartering no leniency and forcing her to sneak around me like any other that treats her the fragile monarch before woman of the North. Protect something enough and you place it in a damned cage, I see that now. Giving voice to the concern that had eaten at him since learning even half the truth of the matter was not as therapeutic as the Huntsman may have liked.

It did not change or alleviate the situation, and only served to further his own frustration that she had needed to go to such ends, as he would have stopped her venturing further, if he had caught trace of her plans. Grimacing to himself, Mikhael made a note to apologize to Her Majesty for trying to preach at her restrictive care when he had become just as bad without noticing. None but the escort she had taken would have supported Katalyne in this trial.

Hm... so that really is it. Perhaps she chose to use you to flee her responsibilities so wholly. Leant back with an almost bemused look on her face, Feilanne was so much as smiling up at the Huntsman now, leaving him to raise a brow to her as he clasped the thick cloak around his neck.

We all want to escape from one thing as surely as we wish to hunt another. I would not say her decisions were so simple as that, General, but therein is where I came to fail her, yes. Put across in a tone as stern and hard as the rest, there was yet something decidedly less cold in the Huntsman’s voice that left Feilanne to scoff and rise with a groan.

Ah, how nice it must be to have such a man that will not only come to the defence of a lady, but understand and admit to his own wrongdoings. Were things but different I may have tried to lure you to bed, see what this fuss you have both Her Highness and Her Majesty up in. Slowly stepping closer to the heavy-set Huntsman, there was a glint of something mischievous in Feilanne’s eye that managed to put a chill in him through the thick clothing. Quickly placing his hands on the good General’s shoulders to halt her, the Huntsman looked her square in the eye.

Feilanne, right now... He began, the glint in her eye immediately retreating. Right now, I need you to be the one grounded and sane person left amongst us. I need you in sharp command of the Keep should something go wrong. I don’t mean to understand Her Majesty’s request, but I share a sort of bond with the one that has taken my place now. He can be trusted, but the less things out of place, the better for all our sake. Again, the words were that touch warm and firm with a protective cover rather than overbearingly heavy. He needed Feilanne now, did he? The notion shouldn’t have left her to fluster and back away so. Of course he needed her, his damnable head would probably be on the block or the floor of
