The Vortex Theory

About this ebook
Thousands of years ago in ancient India, Yogis probed the atom with supernormal powers called siddhis. What they saw was subatomic particles as vortices of energy. That insight gave rise to maya the illusion of forms. Anticipating Einstein, Yogis realised everything is energy. There is no material substance underlying our world. They knew the bedrock of reality is mind and consciousness. That is endorsed today at the cutting edge of quantum physics. Applied to modern physics, the vortex shows how we are deluded by materialism. The particles and forces of nature are explained by the vortex of energy and physics becomes easy to understand for everybody. Predicting the most important scientific discovery of the late 20th century, The Vortex Theory could be the complete theory predicted by Stephen Hawking at the end of A Brief History of Time. The Vortex Theory provides a bridge between science and spirituality. At last we have a sound scientific theory to back belief in non material worlds. A new understanding of Life and Spirit could take us to fresh frontiers of discovery because it may be space is full of Life.

FOREWORD
No doubt historians existing in the late 21st Century and beyond will look back to these years spanning the second millennium as a major turning point in the history of science and in human knowledge. We are currently living through this revolution and, without the benefit of hindsight, the picture can seem muddy as there are still many detractors alive today. But the wheels are in motion and the revolution is upon us; our descendants will thank us for the efforts we have made in moving from the Newtonian, reductionist worldview of science, to one that incorporates consciousness at its core.
I strongly believe that one of the key protagonists who will stand out when this rear view mirror is used by future generations is David Ash. In the face of sometimes hostile ridicule from those who wish to perpetuate Newtonian dogma, he has had the courage to repeatedly point out where, in the current paradigm, the emperor has no clothes. He has the insight to ask the questions that no one else dares or even articulates that maybe our current scientific models are based on flimsy non-fundamental principles, supported more by historic precedent and academic funding than Nature.
So amongst the crumbling of the old, there are some like Ash who are bringing in the new. His vortex theory has the insight to solve many of the issues in current science and he does this with rigorous logic and humour, making his ideas accessible to the scientist and non-scientist alike. Indeed the theory has had the track record of predicting future scientific observations – a strong sign of its validity.
Ash disregards the prejudice of our current Western culture that sees ancient Eastern wisdom as somehow irrelevant and primitive and in doing so revives the true nature of wisdom: beyond the laboratory of modern science the universe is available for direct experience. In fact he knows that although our experiments using the scientific method have indeed led us to great knowledge, the wisdom of ancient cultures can be deeper, as it is obtained from within.
You have an incredible adventure in front of you during which you can leave behind preconceived divisions between aspects of knowledge. Ash will take you far and wide on this epic journey – from deep into the atom, to meditating in India, to joining Alice in Wonderland.
Crucially, he is one of the guides of this new revolution, shaking us up to look deeper and realise that the universe is as it is: it is we who have compartmentalised knowledge and created dogmatic rules. So let him take you back to the truth – that all knowledge exists in unity from East, West, macro to micro – there is no division. Let the revolution begin!

INTRODUCTION
I am hopeful we will find a consistent model that describes everything in the Universe. If we do that, it will be a real triumph for the human race.
Stephen Hawking
A book I read in my youth influenced the course of my life. The Advanced Course in Yogic Philosophy by William W. Atkinson writing as Yogi Ramacharaka led me to the vortex theory. I came across the book in 1964 when I was still at school. As I read it I realised it contained a clue to understanding the way energy forms matter which could revolutionise physics and make it understandable to everyone.
My father, Michael Ash (1916-1991) introduced me to physics when I was seven so I knew a bit about Einstein. When I read the book on Yogic philosophy published in 1904, I was galvanised. It contended matter to be a form of energy a year before Einstein published E=mc2. Einstein anticipated by Yogis! The thought I had was, Yogis said energy forms matter through vortex motion. If they could anticipate Einstein maybe they were right about the vortex!
That thought launched me on a voyage of discovery that has gone on for half a century. As I worked on the vortex theory no door in physics was barred to me; no mystery seemed impossible to solve. An account for the forces and particles of nature emerged until a complete panorama of the Universe lay before me. Most incredible was the conclusion in line with the consensus of many quantum theorists and the philosophy of Yogic mystics that there is a universal mind, a universal consciousness underlying everything.
My father was an experimenter and emphasised the need for a prediction that would enable my vortex theory to be tested by experiment. Sadly he died before the accelerating expansion of the Universe, predicted implicitly in my vortex theory, was confirmed by a discovery in astronomy.
In 1990 Saul Perlmutter, professor of Physics at Berkley University, pulled together teams in the USA and the UK to look for supernova explosions in distant galaxies. They published their results in December 1997. Prior to then it was assumed from the big bang theory that the Universe was expanding at a uniform rate. Perlmutter’s observations of exploding supernovas suggested this assumption was wrong and in fact the expansion of the Universe appeared to be accelerating.
To quote Martin Rees: An acceleration in the cosmic expansion implies something remarkable and unexpected about space itself: there must be an extra force that causes a ‘cosmic repulsion’ even in a vacuum. This force would be indiscernible in the Solar System; nor would it have any effect within our galaxy; but it would overwhelm gravity in the still more rarefied environment of intergalactic space. Despite the gravitational pull of the dark matter (which acting alone would cause a gradual deceleration), the expansion could then actually be speeding up.
I didn’t know about Perlmutter or his study when I was working on the cosmological implications of my vortex theory that predicted a polar opposite to gravity. I could see that on a cosmic scale vortex energy could cause galaxies further from us to accelerate away from us faster than those that are closer. My account suggesting this effect was not due to an expansion of the Universe but to the movement of galaxies in a universe of finite size. My account was published in 1995 two years before Perlmutter published his discovery of the apparent accelerating expansion of the Universe caused by his presumed dark energy, in 1997.
According to the rules of science if a theory can predict the outcome of a future observation or experiment it should be taken seriously, no matter how unknown the author or obscure the publication. There was little hope of people taking me or my work seriously unless I could establish the validity of the vortex theory according to the scientific method. Despite the fact that I had neither PhD nor peer support, the vortex gleaned from Yoga enabled me to explain things that baffled professional physicists. For example, I was able to account for potential and nuclear energy; how energy is locked in matter. In 1905 Einstein, without a degree in physics, published his equation E=mc2, predicting that vast amounts of energy could be released from small amounts of mass. That was proved in the atomic bombs of 1945 but as the physicist Richard Feynman pointed out: Nuclear energy... we have the formulas for that, but we do not have the fundamental laws…we do not know what it is.
The mystery of how subatomic particles release the explosive force of the nuclear bomb can be explained without difficulty by the vortex of energy. This book, an update of my 1995 publication, retraces how the vortex idea from Yogic philosophy can explain not only nuclear energy but many other enigmas in physics. If a theory can explain things that are unexplained, as well as predict the outcome of future experiments, by the rules of science it is a good theory.
A sound scientific theory coming from the mystic tradition of yoga may be anathema to secular materialists, especially when developed by an amateur, but prejudice does not figure in science. If a theory complies by the rules of the scientific method, regardless of where it comes from or how inconvenient it may be it cannot be dismissed unless it is disproved. It can be ignored but that leads to ignorance!
Rules are rules. Motorists may object to the rules about parking and speeding but they have to follow
