    Murderess - James moylan

    MORDERESS

    JAMES MOYLAN

Jason Swift was sitting at the end of the bar having his second drink when a young woman came past him, he watched her go to the far corner of the room. And into the toilet she had red hair and wore a white top and a black skirt. Which finished just above the knee?

A few moments later she came back. And Jason’s heart skipped a beat as she smiled at him and he smiled back. So he said would you like a drink. She sat down to the right of Jason, and said yes pleas and placed her Black Hand bag on the bar.

What drink can I order you? Jason said.

She took her time before saying whisky and dry.

She watched very closely as Jason pulled his wallet out of his back pocket and pulled out a twenty pound note from a bunch of them.

Jason looked at his watch and it was only nine o’clock. He was thinking this could be a dear night if he did not watch it without some reward, if the drinking went on all night. Jason at that moment was admiring her good looks when she lifted her glass of whisky and dry, and said thank you for the drink and good luck.

After her first drink she said where do you live?

Jason was now thinking could this be my chance, so he said about ten minutes walk from her. Do you fancy coming for a drink, while we get to know each other?

She was now thinking. How easy can this be?

Of course I will, but you have got to tell me your name and what you do for a living and whether you’re married or not?

    Jason smiled at this request.

My name is Jason Swift. I am not married. I was divorced two years ago. And if you must know I am a professional gambler and I am not telling you what I gamble on. Now tell me what your name is and what you do for a living?

She knew she would have to tell him an assumed name, not because of him knowing it that would not matter. It was just in case somebody in the pub over heard her say it.

Betty Grey was the first name that came into her brain. And I have only just moved to this area, and I am looking for work.

And I am also divorced. She thought Jason would like that. Then she thought of what he had said, about how he got his money. And he could have stacks of money hidden around his house as he would have been paid by the bookies in cash only. Then she let her hand go on the top of his and smiling at him making him Think she was only interested in one thing. And she could see the lust in his eyes as she squeezed his large hand.

Finish your drink Betty and let’s get of to my house and make you happy.

Betty was not one for walking in high heeled shoes and was surprised at the size of Jason’s house and garden and the beauty of all the flowers in it.

Did you plant all these flowers Jason? Said Betty hoping she sounded interested.

I have a son who lives with me and we did it together.

Betty was now wondering if his son would be home and how old he was, but did not like asking.

She was expecting to see how well furnished the house was, and was not disappointed at seeing a dark green three piece suite, and a glass table with six chairs. Her hart leapt at the thought of how much money this man must have. Her only problem now was if his son was home, or coming home soon Or was he that young he was in bed. But surly Jason didn’t seem the type to leave... what the hell is up with me the lad old enough to do the garden. She decided to leave it and hope for the best.

The time was eight forty five and Jason thought a drink was overdue. So he poured Betty a whisky and dry making sure there was more whisky than dry. The trouble was he didn’t know whisky did not make Betty drunk, if that was what he was after.

He made himself a pint beer shandy not wanting to have too much to drink.

They sat together on the couch.

Tell me Betty where did you live before you came to live in Cricklwood? Said Jason he had wondered at the time weather Betty Grey was her real name. But that did not matter, he thought; this was a one night only date and he would never see her again. He did not know how true that was going to be.

Before I came to this beautiful place I lived in Hampstead born and bred there. And I got married there and had my kids there. She of course was still married and still had kids. And funnily she still loved him. But things had to change when Walter her husband had been made redundant from his job as a motor mechanic. And she had supposedly got a job working in the evening.

Now Jason tells me what happened to your marriage? She said not really wanting to know, but felt she must ask.

My wife was the best thing that ever happened to me Betty. And the best day of my life was when we got married. Even though it rained all day

Then why the divorce? Betty asked.

We had been married just over ten years. And I had been having an affair for two years and she found out. It was my fault and I have regretted it ever sins. But life as to go on, so drink up and we shall go on the bed.

Jason led the way and put the light on which was red. The bed clothes were pure white. As were the pillows

Betty had made sure her hand bag was open before she went on the bedroom.

As Jason reached the bed he turned and saw Betty taking her top of and he saw her pink bra. He moved towards her and took that bra of and let it drop to the floor and placed his hands on her firm breasts. Then she started undoing slowly every button on his blue shirt as she kissed him. After she had finished she went for his belt and undid the buckle on that belt. His pants fell to the floor.  His underpants were black and white stripes. And she could see how big and hard he was.

Jason made the next move by making her black skirt fall to the floor. She wore pink knickers, but not for long as he also took them off. Betty never took her eyes of his cock as he dropped his stripes to the floor. They were now completely naked

She said I like being on top, and he was not complaining the only thing he wanted at that moment was to get inside her.

As he lied down on his back he wondered why she had put her handbag on the bed. But that went from his mind as she threw her left leg over the other side of him and took hold of him and shoved it inside her and started moving up and down on it.

Betty could see he had his eyes closed so she reached in her hand bag and pulled out her knife. She raised it with both hands above her head and plunged it in the middle of his hairy chest. His eyes shot open as he felt the pain. The blood spurted out and covered her legs and stomach. Jason’s eyes went wider as he watched her take the knife out and plunge it into his stomach. She waited until he was dead before getting of him. Then she went and had a shower to wash the blood of. Then she got dressed. Then picked his pants up of the floor and took his wallet out of the back pocket, and counted one hundred and sixty pounds in twenty pound notes. There was also two ten pound notes she put the money back in the wallet, and put the wallet in her handbag then went to his wardrobe and went through his close she found nothing. There were two sets of draws so she went through them and found a large brown envelope. She was pleased when she counted out in crisp new notes. Two thousand five hundred pounds in twenty pound notes if she had only looked under the bed Betty was just about to leave when she remembered she had not cleaned the knife of her finger prints.

The next problem she would have would be if somebody saw her leaving the house. But that’s a chance she would have to take. She went back to the pub where she had seen Jason and picked her car up. She would drive out of Cricklwood for another hour before she got home.

How did your night go? Her husband asked as she sat down beside him on the settee.

She took Jason’s wallet out of her handbag and took the money out of it and held it up.

    ––––––––

Inspector Brendan Mayall and Sergeant Nick Stone arrived at number twenty five Milbank road at five past twelve after getting a call that there had been a body found with a knife stuck in his stomach.

A tall police officer was standing outside who they knew as Martin Croft. He opened the door to let them in. another one led them to the bedroom where a man’s body lay naked on a large double bed. Mayall went close to that bed and took a closer look at the bloodless body .Stone stood to his left. Mayall studded the body for a few moments then said. A woman did this I am sure of that.

How do you know that sir? Said Stone

Take a look at where the blood as landed it ends on the top of his legs. So somebody was straggling him when he was stabbed. So she must have been covered in blood. We have to think why this woman would kill a naked man in cold blood Wylie having sex with him? This poor man would not know what had hit him.

Who found the body asked Stone? He was looking at Constable Jeffrey’s.

He went over to another bedroom and shouted in to that bedroom. Inspector Mayall would like to talk to you.

A tall blond young man came out of that bedroom and sat down on the settee, where Mayall was already sitting Stone was sat facing them.

My name is Inspector Mayall sir and I am now in charge of finding out who did this murder. May I ask who you are?

I am Tony Swift and that is my father. He was not looking at the body when he spoke.

And it was you who found the body?

Yes I came home about eleven thirty. I had been out with my girl friend Sharon.

Tell me Tony what made you look in the bedroom? Asked Stone Mayall looked at Stone and thought what a good question that was.

I had been in the house only a few minutes and was just about to go into the kitchen for something to eat. When I noticed the bottom of a pair of pants in the door way at first I thought he must have brought somebody home and was having sex with them. But I could not hear any noises. So I popped my head through the door and saw him on the bed. I did go over to the bed and could see by the amount of blood on the bed he must be dead. That is when I phoned you.

What sort of work did your father do? Tony; said Mayall.

He was a very successful professional gambler, said Tony.

That is very interesting don’t you think Sergeant Stone. i think bookies pay their clients out in cash, am I right Sergeant?

You are right sir. Said Stone

Mayall turned and looked at Tony. That being the case Tony did he have money hidden in the house?

Tony went over to the bed and knelt on the floor and pulled out a big case which was locked. He carried that case well away from where is father lay. Then he went back near the bed and opened the bottom draw of three and took out a wallet. In that wallet was a key that opened that case. Everybody in that room was stood over that case, when Tony opened it. And it was packed solid with money. Tony did sigh with relief as he saw that money.

Well we can safely say it wasn’t for money said Stone.

Hang on said Tony; he did have some more money hidden away. And went over to another set of draws and went through them and found no money.

He spun round at speed and said there was some money in a brown envelope. And he would always carry money with him in a wallet in his back pocket of his pants. He was just about to get his father’s pants. When Mayall stopped him Don’t pick those up Tony; our Mr Stone will do that very carefully, not to smudge any finger prints, that maybe on the belt when our murderess took his pants down.

Stone did exactly as instructed and found the back pocket of the pants empty.

That is very interesting said Mayall, I think we have a woman who kills for money.

The finger print expert had arrived and was checking the handle of the knife. Surprise, surprise the knife was clean. He checked the belt and found some finger prints. That was a good start. The pathologist Nick Clark was looking over the dead body of Jason Swift.

Mayall went over to stand by his side.

We think he was having sex at the time he was killed.

Yes I think your right inspector, but they didn’t finish it otherwise there would have been sperm on his cock

Mayall took a long look at the limp lifeless cock.

And said I see what you mean.

Clark then looked at Jason’s hands for any damage and found none.

This man was unaware this was going to happen to him. She killed him when he was enjoying sex. And would have his eyes closed at least for the first blow.

I think said Mayall, we are looking for a young woman who is killing for money and is using sex as a reason to get the men into their own homes. Where she hopes like this house to find more money.

Why said Stone would she leave the knife embedded in his chest?

It was Clark who answered. So she would not have to clean the knife. I have seen this many times and it just saves time. And
