VINNY (V.O.)
FADE IN:
I never really cared about sports.
I mean I played sports.Little league that is.But shit, I would always
bet on fucking sports. And won. So I decided, if I wasn't going to be a sports star. Well, damn it! I'll
be a bookie...
INT. BASKETBALL GYM—NIGHT
VINNY, 21, is pacing back and forth in gymnasium bleacher. He has an angry, look of frustration on his face. The GAME BELL RINGS. He pouts. MATTY, 22, stands up in excitement. MATTY's hand is extended outward, with his palm faced up and open, towards VINNY.
VINNY
Fuck man!...I've been losing money
on this team since fucking pre-season.
MATTY
Pay up, bitch.I need my-
VINNY
Yo, relax. You know I'm good for it.Plus, you still owe me a yard from that Sixer's game.
Matty stands up.
MATTY
Damn! That's right! We bet so fucking much.I can't even keep track of who owes who what.
VINNY reaches into his pocket and pulls out a large sum of money wrapped in a rubberband
VINNY
Here man. Here's your money. You know I love you Bro. Plus, I need the credit.
Matty grabs money. Has a great big phoney smile on his face. Matty and Vinny make their way down the bleachers.
INT. SMALL COLLEGE DORM—DAY
CUT TO:
Vinny and Matty are talking in their college dorm room. Their college dorm room doubles as their sportsbook making
office. The college dorm room is equipped with 2 computers,
2 fax machines and 4 small color televisions.Vinny sits at a small messy glass top desk with office supplies scattered over the desk, staplers, rubberbands, etc. Expensive leather furniture and audio equipment is also seen in the room.
VINNY
Did you pick up that dough from Vic?
MATTY
Vic?
––––––––
VINNY
Yeah, Vic.That bitch owes us four hundred beans.
MATTY
I'll run down there in a few hours. If not today, tomorrow. First, I got to go see Jimmy. He called me earlier. He told me that we picked up $1500 on the Laker's game last night.
VINNY
Shit! And I thought we were gonna get the shit beaten out of us on that fucking game. You know, them mother fuckers hardly ever lose by more than four points.
MATTY
I was shiting too. (sighs relief)
Vinny is busy rubberbanding money together.Vinny is also writing in what appears to be money journal or ledger.
VINNY
Anyway, we made forty-eight hundred this week. Here's your twenty-four hundred.
Matty gets his portion of the money.Take the money apart from the rubberband and peels off a hundred dollar bill and hands it over to VINNY.
MATTY
Here's your hundred from that Sixer's game.I guess that makes us even.
(pauses)
Yo, Me and Miami Johnny gonna hit a few bars tonight. Wanna come?
Vinny gets up in a rush and exits the room.
VINNY (yelling as he's
exiting dorm room)
Nah! I'm cool.Yo! Don't forget Vic.That fat fuck will eat up our fucking money before tonight.

A grey late model SUV pulls up in front of bar. Matty is with Miami Johnny. Matty parks directly in front of bar. Matty and Miami Johnny exit the SUV and enter bar.

6 great looking girls. They are drinking expensive wine, champaine and liqours. The place is extremely crowded and is very loud. Rap music is playing. Vic notices Matty and Miami Johnny entering bar. Vic hands signals Matty to his table.
VIC (screaming)
Hey papi, what's up? Kiddo...I'm ova here!
Matty does hear Vic, but can't get over fast enough. Vic yells again, much louder.
VIC (CONT'D) Yo! Jew boy! I'm ova here!
Matty arrives at Vic's table with his visiting friend from Miami. Both are standing over Vic's table. Vic's friends are studying the men from head to toe. Vic signals his friends with a look of approval.
MATTY
Yo, what's up Vic?This is my boy Johnny from Miami. He drops and picks down there for some oldtimers.
VIC
What's up Johnny? My pleasure. How long you been hanging with this fucking jew fuck? Anyway, don't answer that. May be too long. Just kidding papi. Matty is cool. In

Vic signals waitress over to his table.
VIC (CONT'D) What you guys drinking?
MIAMI JOHNNY

(smiles)
MATTY
I'll have a glass of red wine.I'm still healing from last night.
VIC
(signals to a male in his party)
Yo, pour these gentlemen some liquor. They look thirsty.
Matty signals Vic for a private conversation.
VIC (CONT'D) (looking at his party)
Yo, fellas excuse me a minute.Got to talk some biz for a sec with my main man, Matty the Jew.

VIC

MATTY
We don't really know if that action on the streets will fly. Vinny that fuck is always trying something crazy. You know.
Vic pulls out a piece of paper from his jacket pocket along with bundle of cash. Vic hands Matty cash and paperwork.
VIC
Yo, here's the $400. (pauses
