    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This book is a result of reinventing myself from the traumas of my life, challenges and the desire to speak out. The things in this book relate to my life, love and trials. After thinking of how I can write my story without exposing too much. I thought of this book as my shield, as my armor. I couldn’t have done this without my family. I want to take the opportunity to thank God for allowing me the chance to write this book while body and soul are still together. My parents for bringing me into this world. My family for the support, both financially, emotionally and physically. Like I said, a man is not an island, together as a family we were able to overcome the trials. Sometimes I was low, I was down, I couldn’t Write but the thought of my son and responsibilities gave me the strength to carry on. All the hard work and effort put to this book are only to make this into a success.

    CHAPTER 1

Buxton! Lee-Anne rushed in the dining room to give her husband a hug. For a long time they had lived together Bux had never seen his wife this happy , yes they were so much in love and like any young couple they had so much of happy moments and romances . Instead of the usual kiss Lee-Anne jumped at Bux grabbing him by the shoulders and forcing his arms to open wider so he wouldn’t let Lee-Anne slip away. "Baby what’s this about, I haven’t seen you this giggly in a while. Care to share the excitement so we can celebrate together? Buxton and Lee-Anne had known each other since high school in their junior level. Had the same course, same teachers but were in different classes. Buxton had been the most handsome guy in the 2007 O’ Level stream, tall well-built structure. Masculine and broad shoulders would be his description with fair skin that was flawless and radiant. The most beautiful part of it is he graduated from the single stripped blazer to a three stripped when he was appointed junior major or like some would call it the head boy. He was every girl’s dream and made many hearts melt. For Lee-Anne all she saw in him was a rich brat, pompous and overzealous. Was it that Lee-Anne didn’t also see the prince charming in him? I guess not , to her school was the only thing that mattered having grown up little of everything .At the age of five all she could understand was that dear mummy had left without a word and had never come back . Grandma had been the source of her backbone since then and had little to offer talk less of giving her the best education. Lee -Anne had devoted her whole life to her studies and promised to be the best for grandma. She looked strong but was fragile and broken, so many years of heart ache and tears for being rejected. She still by now thought her mother had left because of her. All she remembered was how they were a happy family, with daddy around enjoying a ride to the lake. There was little she could remember from the car accident, she had been screaming throwing tantrums for mummy to stop by the road to buy her ice cream but Carla had refused. Lewis tried bending to check for loose money to buy the ice cream for dearly spoiled daughter but can you run away from fate? An oncoming vehicle cruising at 180km/h hit them sending the convertible compressor flying and hitting the bridge way straight into the river. The airbag couldn’t do much and what Lee-Anne could only remember was the hospital room, plain curtains and white barged ladies. That was what she saw when she woke up from the comma. Mummy, she cried but still Carla didn’t show up. Mrs. Williams, Lee-Anne’s grandma came to see her at the hospital and cover her medical bills. Mrs. Williams was Lewis’ mother and had come after the police had informed her of her son’s death. She was hurt and yet there was nothing she could have done to save him. Carla’s body hadn’t been found and there was no evidence of where she could have been. She had been thrown off the car and drowned down the river. Days passed, months and years were swallowed since the accident occurred and no one knew anything about what had happened to Carla. Lee-Anne was still too young to understand what it meant to die or to be buried but grandma had tried the best to make her grand-daughter understand that daddy or mummy won’t be coming back and that they were in a better place watching over her in heaven. She had kept a picture of her parents wedding as a reminder and held onto it as a treasure. Many nights would pass; cold dark days and Lee-Anne would curl up in bed frightened. She sometimes had nightmares of the accident and every time she did it always made her accept to take the blame of the death of her parents. Soon after Lewis’ death his properties and cars had been taken by the bank to cover for the loan he had taken with their bank. Lee-Anne moved to their rural home to live with grandma and everything changed from riches to poverty, mansion to mud house. Things got worse and Lee-Anne had to transfer from little princess kindergarten school to a nearby school where she started her preschool. She had the brains, beauty and benevolence. In her sixth grade she had won a national quiz competition for all primary schools and got a scholarship up to university, the best of her choice and a sum of five million dollars was put aside in her trust fund. Now that she was in high school she intended to stay focused and concentrate on her studies. Though being a dietitian wasn’t the ideal career she had wanted she had taken it. Buxton a basketball champion at the school and best national player had an eye for the pretty Lee-Anne, the school beau and scorpion cheerleader. The school national basketball competition were being played the day before homecoming party and still Buxton hadn’t gotten a date for the dance. All the girls were looking forward keeping fingers crossed hoping to be the lucky one Buxton would choose but none of that happened. As the game drew to an end with the school team taking lead 40:24. Lee-Anne busy as usual didn’t have time to watch the game but as cheerleaders they would stay behind after the game for a toast to the winning school team. She had bent down to tie her shoe laces and managed to get a glimpse of her back in between her legs , to her surprise Buxton was standing about two inches from her back starring at her GOD knows what he was thinking . She hesitated to stand for a moment as her knees began to shake; something she never thought could happen to her of all things and her heart was pounding racing and for moment skipped a beat. Hi! At the sound of the smooth voice, a bit hoarse from the hard game she was left dump founded. She couldn’t respond but only looked. He didn’t wait a second for her to chase him away or refuse but instead took her hand, my name is Buxton and I assume you know me right? She just managed to shake her head this time and he went on with his intentions

Lee-Anne I won’t waste much time but can you be my date this homecoming dance? She hadn’t agreed and neither did he give her a chance to decide instead he said I will pick you up at your hostel at seven if not I will have to come in and drag you. Obviously she didn’t want him dragging her and embarrassing her. The night turned out from just a dance to a romance. After the party they chatted the night away and that grew even more to a serious relationship. They all came back to the same school for advanced level taking the same science subjects (math, physics) though lee took biology and Bux took chemistry. They were the love birds of the school, combined their love name to BuxLee (how sweet). They had gone to separate universities to study. Lee-Anne took up honors in food science at Rhodes University while Buxton travelled to Australia at the University of Brisbane to study business management. Now that grandma had passed on Lee-Anne had decided to live the country to further her studies. In no time they had finished and Buxton had come back home to take over the family business after his father had died of cancer, prostate cancer. Mrs. Spensor was managing the business when Buxton was away but now that he was home he would relieve her mother of the duties of the chief executive officer. Lee-Anne also came back home after she had been employed by the avenues clinic in Harare. Buxton didn’t waste time to propose marriage to Lee-Anne and had immediately began preparations for the wedding. They had gotten married on the lake and had delightedly said their vows from the deepest of their hearts. This is every girls dream come true , everything was perfect and she looked elegant , sophisticated in the emerald beaded white chiffon sweetheart neckline ball gown with gold sparkles and her hair done into a bun with lovely matching hair pins . She was happy and had looked forward to the loving future they had. Buxton in his brown and cream tuxedo, he looked like a million dollar man and a gold matching waist coat .Years went by and their love continued to grow stronger but not a day passed without Lee-Anne missing her mother, wishing she was here to see the daughter she had brought to the world. Till now she hadn’t been able to find out where her mother was since her body was never found but they had created a tombstone in her memory and from time to time Lee-Anne would go there to talk to her and cry. Little did she know, she wasn’t in there? They had waited for so long to have kids but it wasn’t yet just Gods time and Buxton understood that even when his uncles had so they can extend his lineage but he refused and stood by Lee.

Baby, I saw the doctor and guess what? she said making circles around Buxton her hand caressing his chest."

Honey just tell me, you know I am not good at guessing, he complained.

She moved from him to look at him from a close angle and said, my love, you have made me the happiest woman on this planet and further more wadzora kunyadzwa kwangu pakati perudzi rwangu (you have relieved me of my shape before my tribe and among my fellow women). We are having a baby," she jumped with joy. He didn’t know what to do or say for he was overwhelmed.

    "Come
