The Break (Playing Games #2.5) - Rene Folsom
Chapter One
Liam: Paradise
Holy shit, Liam.
Her jaw dropped as she stepped off the boat, her eyes greedily taking in the miles and miles of water surrounding us. She spun in place, absorbing the scenery. A blanket of glitter covered the rippling surfaces, the sun shining just right to make the endless horizon sparkle.
Turning from her for a moment, I made sure the baggage handlers got all of our stuff while trying to keep my eyes on her, assessing her reaction to the beautiful island. When she said she wanted to go away together, I decided to surprise her, making reservations at a remote resort in the Maldives, a series of small islands out in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
I’d waited several weeks to see her reaction, and I was definitely not disappointed. The look on her face was very telling—wonder shining in her eyes—the brightness of the sun illuminating the green hue of her irises, accentuated even more by the turquoise water on all sides of us. She was already amazed with the scenery when our plane landed on the capital island, Malé, one of the biggest islands in the Maldives, but now she was simply stunned into silence, her gaze raking over every inch of our surroundings.
The sounds of laughter combined with the rev of a Jet Ski motor had a smile quirking the sides of her mouth, her rosy lips in stark contrast to the white of her teeth peeking through. My stomach twisted at the sight of her so happy. I could think of a million ways to make her smile, and yet, it still had my heart speeding up at the thought that I was the one filling her with joy.
Ahh, Mr. and Mrs. Allen. Welcome!
a female voice said from behind us, making us turn toward the person to see who was awkwardly greeting us. A petite local woman, her accent thick, but fluent in English, stood expectantly, waiting for me to acknowledge her. I looked over to Maci, worried she’d get offended with the woman’s blunder, but she just smiled, linking her arm with mine, as if to silently accept the fact that many would think we were on our honeymoon.
Thank you,
Maci said, speaking up when I didn’t.
The woman just bowed her head slightly and turned, gesturing for us to follow. We have your villa all ready and waiting for you,
she added, leading us down a side dock toward a row of buildings peacefully perched over the clear water.
This is so amazing,
Maci whispered as she caught sight of the over-the-water bungalow we were going to be staying in. Her excitement seemed to increase with each step we took, the anticipation thick in the air as we stepped into the small building.
Even I was amazed with the view, endless ocean the only thing in sight from our private deck. Tipping the baggage handlers, I watched her make her way outside, her colorful hair blowing in the light breeze, a golden tint shining through the strands from the sun.
After being stuck in a plane for over a day, stopping in Amsterdam and Dubai just long enough to pee and catch our connecting flights, my muscles felt stiff. I honestly just wanted to tangle myself up with her and lay down for a few.
However, Maci had other plans.
Turning abruptly, she asked, Where’s my bags?
Her eyes were frantic, like she had lost them in the thrill of things.
I pointed to all our bags stacked on the bed, continuing to watch her with amusement as she bounded over to her biggest suitcase like a kid high on candy.
I could totally get used to this, the ease of just being with her, spending time with her like this, especially since she didn’t bother hiding her body from me as she stripped down.
Crossing my arms over my chest, I leaned my shoulder against the door casing, the sun to my back. I couldn’t help the smile that played on my face as I watched her shimmy out of her jeans, her panties shamelessly following suit.
Desire filled every inch of my body when I noticed she was bare, not a single curl between her legs. She usually had a cute little landing strip, but this new absence of hair made my mouth water.
Man, I could really get used to this.
I had to shake my head of the delicious thoughts consuming me, my attention returning to her as she tied
