    Dedication

I would like to express my gratitude to the many people who saw me through this book; to all those who freely shared their wisdom and understandings, provided support, talked things over, read, wrote, offered comments, allowed me to quote their remarks and assisted in the editing, proofreading and design. I would especially like to thank my sex-education teacher Professor, Ulla Anderson, for contributing additional material, research, and assistance with the writing of this book.

People were hermaphrodites until God split them in two, and now all the halves wander the world over seeking one another. Love is the longing for the half of ourselves we have lost.

EVERY ONCE IN a while a book comes along that shakes, rattles, and rolls our belief system right to its knees. Filmmaker (Hard Rain and Domestic Violence: the Human Stain) and author (The Mythology of Race Unraveling the Matrix) Eric Gibson is a venerable giant in the field of moral sensitivity and spiritual development. His newest and most controversial book, Men are Really Women with Penises, is drawing mixed reviews.

The American-born writer has delivered a bombshell that is being hailed as one of the most influential books on gender. This book is replete with hard-hitting facts, historical references, and revelations about inequality against women by men. Nuage Productions has already approved a film based upon chapter three of the book titled A Case for Eve. It comes as no great surprise that amid such acclaim, the author has received equally sharp criticism, mostly from men. Some of the assaults have been downright cruel.

Gibson, a 53-year-old former New York City Police officer, laughs at the personal attacks when people assume that he is gay because of his stance on gender equality.

All I can say is I'm attracted to women, so I guess that makes me a lesbian, he laughs out loud. Let’s face it - people are conditioned to respond defensively to anything outside the box of conventional reasoning. We live in a go-with-the-crowd society where it is not okay to be anything that is not popular with the crowd. Old fables die hard; history has proven it takes courage to turn its pages.

The book deals with the persistent insensitivity of the male-dominated society in which men have been taught for thousands of years that women were created from the darling male anatomy, that woman is the byproduct of man. This teaching has given birth to the thinking that God gave men the right to authority. When faced with evidence to the contrary - namely, that man emerged from a woman's body, not a woman from a man (which incidentally always seemed more plausible to me) - the question is no longer about the truth of the matter. The real question becomes: can we handle the truth? The book dwells on Gibson’s acceptance of the fact that the claims, when he first explored them, were shocking and unbelievable. He further elaborates that, given the society we live in, anyone who is prepared to address such a controversial theory should be prepared to be crucified. In fact, he has blatantly stated, After people finish laughing, being offended, or crucifying, at the end of the day, I stand by my investigation.

Like a capsule into another dimension of space and time, this book opens a great portal of information. Through each of the chapters, Gibson asserts that the doors were opened to him, and he decided to enter and investigate what happened before we arrived at today. Further, he mentions that, for many years, he has been questioning the stories we have been told. In order for them to exist, these stories counted on us to believe them: everything from Adam and Eve to gender identification. In fact, Gibson asserts that the whole binary, one or the other, boy/girl, penis/vagina, sexual identification system needs to be called into question. Amidst throngs of people who are claiming membership into alternate sexual statuses, it is time to return to the scene of the crime and find out the truth behind our sexual origins.

Gibson further mentions, Seconds after each of us entered the world, a boy/girl, blue or pink label was slapped on us by people who had the same label slapped upon them. We never questioned the sexual orders; we just followed them. For millions of people claiming everything from transgender to homosexuality, those orders have led to an identity crisis and a life of confusion and profound sadness.

Gibson makes the long and arduous journey down the rabbit hole of history to reveal the shocking truth about our true sexual origins. While the door is open, Gibson has seized the opportunity to shine a spotlight and bring the main issues to the forefront, from rape and violence against women to female genital mutilation and gender inequality. Caution is advised because those who are allergic to extreme truth may wish to reconsider before opening this revelation. Once we have unpacked the lies we have been fed, this book will prepare readers for a transformational journey of gender equality, respect, and compassion.

    Introduction

WHY WOULD A man write a book on women’s rights? That is the question I am so often asked. The answer is simple: it is the right thing to do. Inequality anywhere is inequality everywhere, and, as we shall soon learn, men are not as separate and different from women as some have imagined. Coming back to the original question on why I would write a book on women’s rights, here is my counter question: Why not? Amidst the appalling silence of indifference, a few good men also echo my query. But why so few, in comparison to the growing throng of men, condoning predatory violence against women and children through their actions, indifference, and eerie silence? What if the situation were reversed, and men were the ones being abused by women? However, in the end I believe good people come to each other’s rescue when they understand that there is a problem. Good people are like that.

Friends in high places have made ending discrimination and violence against women a top priority. Vice President Joseph Biden said, Violence against women is a stain on the moral character of American society. It is an obligation of all societies, particularly the men in those societies, to stand up and do all in their power to eradicate that stain, for it is a stain on the conscience of the whole country. I agree with the Vice President. It is our duty to take a stand. To paraphrase Edmund Burke, all that is necessary for evil to prevail is for good people to remain silent. Now is not the time to be silent. Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of humanity. I believe that once men become aware of the growing epidemic, they will get involved. Violence never stays in its own neat little box, it spreads, and therefore, unless it is met with opposition, violence against any one group will propagate and lead to more violence directed against the whole. These are the days that prove quite telling. For it is now that we get to learn who our real friends are. I say this because of the glaring silence I have encountered from various institutions that I personally have turned to for help. They all say the same thing: Yes, it is very sad, but we can’t do anything. Our hands are tied. This has been their response to my pleas for help. Meanwhile, the horrific reports continue to pour in from around the world. Victims like Kara, a 5-year-old girl so brutally gang raped that she was paralyzed for the rest of her life, or Haifa, a girl who witnessed her brother’s execution for his crime of refusing to join the soldiers in gang raping her. Horrendous! But the bottom line is this: if so-called spiritual, religious, and political lobbyists can’t make money, they’re not interested in helping.

That being said, I am very thankful to some of our friends in Washington. Attorney General Eric Holder, for one, gave a speech in September 2014 that outraged some and was a call to action for others. In this controversial speech, he called America a nation of cowards because of our reluctance to deal with discrimination. I found the speech very powerful, and it resonated with me because I believe that cowardice is a very strong word. It is also a word that I have never heard used in connection with females. It is my belief that Mr. Holder was sending out a subliminal message to men across the country and around the world: Cease those cowardly methods of stronghold that give you an unfair advantage. His words were meant to break up the good ole’ boy network that says, I’m the man, right or wrong. This type of backwards logic weakens the integrity of our society.

Gender entitlement dulls the senses, alters perceptions of right and wrong, making it impossible for the status quo to have empathy for those they oppress. Many men are ignorant of how damaging their egos are to our society. Former United States President Jimmy Carter is a man who spoke out and said, The world’s discrimination and violence against women and girls is the most serious, pervasive, and ignored violation of basic human rights. Thank you, Mr. President!

Footnote: Carter, Jimmy, A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence, and Power (2014).

Right now, I want to extend an invitation to men all over the world to join the conversation. It is my most ardent desire that someday it won’t appear strange for men to be speaking out about so-called feminine issues. Women's rights are really human rights, and equality is a spiritual law. Women have been waiting for equal rights longer
