About this ebook
One of the greatest business philosophers of all time, Mr Jim Rohn, had this to say about the law: “Everyone needs to know a little law; you don’t have to be a lawyer, but you do need to know the basics.” After many years of legal practice, both as a solicitor and a barrister, I came to realize that about 80% of the legal trouble that seems to somehow find the individual, is caused by a lack of legal awareness of a handful of common sense legal principles. There are just a couple of legal basics that every person needs to know in order to avoid or limit disaster. Will it prevent you from ever getting into trouble with the law? Probably not. Will it assist you in avoiding legal trouble as best you can? Absolutely.
The purpose of this book is to assist the average Joe Bloke, the man in the street, to become savvy enough to avoid most of the legal pitfalls that leads to drama in the courtrooms around the world. This book is written at a layman’s level. You don’t need a degree in linguistics or a legal dictionary when you read it. It is written so that parents can teach these principles to their kids.

Chapter 1: Introduction
One of the greatest business philosophers of all time, Mr Jim Rohn, had this to say about the law:
"Everyone needs to know a little law; you don’t have to be a lawyer, but you do need to know the basics."
After many years of legal practice, both as a solicitor and a barrister, I came to realize that about 80% of the legal trouble that seems to somehow find the individual, is caused by a lack of legal awareness of a handful of common sense legal principles.
This is not a legal text book or a definitive work on the topic; the purpose is to inform the uninformed; to educate the lay person about some basic legal principles that can and may have a dramatic impact on your life, if kept in mind and applied.
It’s meant to be some sort of a legal road map, showing you where the potholes are and how to avoid them. If you pay close attention to life, you will be able to see these potential legal problems ahead of time. If you apply the principles I am about to share with you in this book, you will have the ability to avoid those legal pitfalls, or most of them anyway and be in a position to better negotiate them.
If however you were not paying attention to life, or for whatever reason did not
