WHEN BEING A VIRGIN PUTS HER LIFE IN DANGER...
Katerina Bianca Helena Encantara is a Scion, a descendent of a Legacy or the First Family in a Territory; and after three years in other Territories, she has finished her training for her formal initiation as the Queen of the scions in her Territory of Lumina Solare.
But at the age of twenty, when most training Scions have mastered their carnal desires to control their powerful inherent magic, Katerina remains a virgin. Her faithful subjects are gravely concerned that she will not survive the Ceremony of her Scionship if she will not take a lover at once. And he is truly handsome, a powerful warlock, and a protégé of her late father.
Though Jayden looks upon her like a sister; he is the only man Cat wants.
Can Cat survive her first night in Jayden’s bed knowing he is only doing this because duty calls?

His kiss was soft at first, his lips moving like a soft whisper, a sweet caress. It was as if he was gauging how much she was ready for, how much she could accept from him. She was grateful for it, but it was not this that moved her lips to answer his kiss. It was this consideration and the sudden realization that she did trust him that started her heart to beat again and her decision to let go of something it could not control. It was her undoing, the first moment of their lips meeting. And she should have known this, she thought, as her hands lifted from her sides to touch him, to climb and clasp behind his neck.
Her willingness to kiss him back instantly encouraged him, and his arms tightened on her as his kiss took longer, and deeper... even hungrier as his lips enticed her to open her mouth for a more serious exploration. Their tongues met, and she gasped at this new sensation that she once thought abrasive but was, surprisingly, not. She hesitantly played with his tongue before she kissed him back as hungrily, liking this small possession of his. They kissed, and kissed, their arms and hands becoming more assertive in their awakened want to touch each other.
He lifted his head for a moment, and she could feel his eyes even before she opened her eyes to see the wonder on his face.
“How is it so far?” he asked. He was as breathless as her. There was flushness to his handsome face that wasn’t there when this started.
“I... like it,” she replied, a bit dazed.

The author, Muriel Rollins, was born in 1975. She started writing stories when she was nine, and it was about a mermaid who fell in love with a human. The story was a picture story because at the time, she loved to draw. Her second milestone was in Freshman Year, when she started writing about teenage romance with her favorite teen stars as her main players. It was in a Chemistry Class in Junior High, while bored out of her wits, that she started writing romance that had adult players, and her classmates were the first ones who called the dibs on the very first "serious stuff". It went like pancakes. She became a professional writer in 1998, writing romance novellas for a number of publishers, and has penned more than a hundred romantic novellas and a number of series. She's still going. She is equally obsessed with reading romantic fantasy and watching her favorite TV series over and over. She could have been a successful couch potato had she not a number of kids, including twins, who keep her on her toes ALL the time. She is now on a new adventure, self-publishing her stories as eBooks, and is enjoying herself to her very bone.

Chapter 1
THE SUV’s windows were open as the vehicle travelled the isolated stretch of road between rice fields, the stalks swaying gently in the soft sighing of the night wind. But Cat, or Katerina to her scion subjects, had a wistful smile on her face as she looked out of the open window. The wind was gently caressing her face even as its coolness stoked the embers of memory that provided warmth to her heart. The smell of the farm in the night was a welcoming balm to Cat’s aching heart, for she had been away for a very long time.
She was finally in Lumina Solare, one of the four Territories governed by the Legacies of the First Families after what felt like a very long time.
Lumina Solare was Cat’s Territory, and tonight, the future Queen had come home.
JAYDEN raised his eyes from the documents he pretended to be reading as Georgette came inside the doors to his office in the Encantara Group’s building. She was smiling as he was when he raised himself from his chair and rounded the desk to take his cousin into his arms.
Oh, Jayden, I missed you!
Georgette’s stern voice cried, and then stepped back to hold his face between his hands. Jayden had always been the taller of them even when they were small, but George never failed to make him feel like she was taller even though she was not; or she was older even though she wasn’t. She was born to be bossy,
her father used to say – Uncle Tobias to him and to Cat. Sometimes, that indulgent observation was a complaint. Cat could be the Scion, but it was George who would bully them all until important tasks were done as soon as possible.
I missed you, too. How is the flight?
I wondered all the time if Cat will say ‘the hell with it’ and just jump! She was so impatient to get back,
George commented sarcastically. Then she was smiling. Jayden, she’s home. The Scion’s home!
He nodded. He could feel it. Cat’s inside her Territory. There was a different quality to the night air and the way vibrations of power keep spiking around him. He imagined it was like that to all scions who recognized the signs; or at least those whose tune was in affiliation to the future Queen. The mother of Lumina Solare was home.
You remember the feeling, don’t you?
George whispered.
Yes.
A more determined expression came over her face. Her sharp eyes became sharper. And will you do it?
He smiled down at her. You know I will.
George sighed. Thank the sweet night for you!
She kissed both his cheeks before she went looking for her father in the house.
CAT continued to observe the view outside the vehicle even through the dark. Their race, the scions, did not need artificial light to see in the darkness. They were children of the moon. The darkness embraced them as brothers and sisters. Her eyes took what they could and catalogued what changed and what did not as if she was appeasing a hunger. Her eyes tried not to miss anything.
Upon landing, Omar drove Cat straight to the outskirts of the Territory while her lieutenant and companion, Georgette, remained to meet with her father, Uncle Tobias, in the Manor in the center of the City of Ordon. Cat used magic to jump from one place to another inside a territory, but protocol dictated that she boarded a car like a human and be driven to her destination like a VIP. Before she boarded the plane in California, it was arranged that her baggage would be sent to the Ordon Manor while one bag in particular would go with her in the car along with an overnight case and Omar, her designated driver.
She remembered the giant grin on Omar’s face when he saw her in the tarmac. He served in the family from his youth until he grew up into an adult and became efficient enough to head the First Family’s security. After her father passed away, he became her personal driver and protector until she left for her tours abroad. Since then and because she would be queen, the former security was quadrupled while she trained in other continents. This was due to Georgette and Uncle Tobias’s propensity to plan before any kind of disaster could happen. She supposed, with the upcoming Ceremony of Scionship in a few weeks and some of her relatives contesting
