It was probably a bad idea to spend the last ten bucks I had at the bar. I didn't really care at that point though. All I had was the backpack that asshole had packed for me before I got home and the ten bucks I had in my pocket. I don't really know why I trusted him. I guess in the end, the bar turned out to be the best thing that happened to me.

I used to write a lot. Like, a lot. Whenever I'd get bad, I'd go to that bar and start scribbling in my notebooks. Yes, I still use notebooks...errr, used. It just felt more real, somehow.

He'd sat down next to me. I don't know, right from that first moment I could tell something was different about him. I couldn't stop stealing glances. He wasn't even being a creep. Just sitting a few seats down, minding his own business.

He was reading a book, I couldn't see what it was. I tried to just pour everything out on the paper, but it wasn't coming the same way it normally did. There was something about him that was so...

Can I buy you a drink? he asked in that deep rumble. I sighed at first because I wasn't there for that and because that's what I always did when guys asked me that in bars. I was just there because I had nowhere else to go. But when I saw him, I couldn't look away. The salt and pepper hair, those deep blue eyes and the body of a twenty-five year old even though he was probably in his late fifties.

I tried to cover my chest because I knew the two dark circles had probably formed on the front of my shirt again and I didn't want him to see. He pretended not to look.

Ummm, sure, I said, trying to act normal. I couldn't help but stare at his profile while he talked to the bartender. His jacket looked tailored. Who wore a tailored jacket to a bar in this end of town? When he turned back with my drink I looked away, hoping he hadn't caught me staring.

Sorry to intrude, I thought I might have seen you having some writers block. Are you in college? he asked taking a sip of his own drink. Yeah, he definitely wasn't from this end of town.
