Author

Justine Davis

Justine Davis lives on Puget Sound in Washington State, watching big ships and the occasional submarine go by, and sharing the neighborhood with assorted wildlife, including a pair of bald eagles, deer, a bear or two, and a tailless raccoon. In the few hours when she's not planning, plotting, or writing her next book, her favorite things are photography, knitting her way through a huge yarn stash, and driving her restored 1967 Corvette roadster—top down, of course.

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first Redstone book I read, Deadly Temptation. I didn't like the main characters as much. I liked Tony in that and I didn't mind him in this. But I wasn't really a fan of Lilith. I'm not even sure why, she didn't do anything in particular to annoy me but I just didn't like her. The romance between the two was fine but it also irritated me - they were so swept up with their own issues and it just annoyed me. It certainly wasn't bad though - it was a good read and I enjoyed the book overall.

I like the Redstone stories - I wish it really existed, I'd love to work there. This one's excellent - the threat that brings them together is plausible, and the end of it is excellent, the easy answer isn't all of it. Then their relationship, and the obstacles each one sees - she sees herself as too old, he sees himself as too crude, and no one else sees either problem. The way they finally get through it, with a bit of meddling from Josh - me gusta. I don't know if this is my favorite Redstone story, but it's right up there.
