About this ebook

This time: her mission is personal

Former casino lounge singer/variety act Evie Parish has moved up in the world, joining Chameleon, an organization that exposes fraud using reformed crooks to catch current ones. Her last assignment landed her in the arms of the delicious bad boy Arch Duvall, who taught her how to spot a grifter and how to get over a lousy ex by having a superheated fling.

Now it's time to take to heart what she's learned. When Evie's mom falls for a sweetheart scam, Evie rushes to the rescue (undercover, of course), accompanied by Milo Beckett, her sexy new boss at Chameleon. Closely pursuing is Arch, who's decided Evie may not be a passing fancy after all. It's hard to concentrate on the case with these two macho males squaring off, but Evie's up to t

It's hard to like the main character as she has low self-esteem and is wishy-washy. It's disconcerting that a woman over 40 (as Evie is) is so unsure of herself and tolerates so much crap from her "boyfriend". Has she not had ANY life experiences? The book could be 100 pages shorter (and therefore more interesting) if the author did not feel to repeat salient points as if the reader is as easily distracted as a three year old. Are authors now being paid per word instead of for a well-written story?

Whoa!! Picked up this book almost as an afterthought since I didn't read the first one "All About Evie". I couldn't put it down. There is a mystery (but not a murder mystery), but the book is really about Evie and her relationships with Arch and Milo. Evie's a 40-something stage performer. In a short span of time she is 1-dumped by her hubby for a younger woman, 2-the younger woman is pregnant when her hubby always wanted her to put off children, 3-said hubby was her manager who has decided to 'drop' her contract, and 4-she's being passed over for shows because she is 'too old'. In other words, her life has gone to hell. In the first book (which I ordered immediately upon finishing this one), she gets involved in a 'sting' with Arch and Milo. In this book, we learn that they are both interested in her romantically. Evie is drawn to them both, and has to grow in her confidence and self-awareness to make some hard decisions about what she wants and where she is headed. Milo is the 'good boy', safe, solid morals, stable. Arch is the 'bad boy', dangerous, skewed morals, unpredictable. Who will she choose? Who should she choose? I really, truly enjoyed this book. I became involved in Evie's, Arch's and Milo's thoughts and feelings. I didn't want the book to end...can't wait for the next one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
